WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden took a swipe against Donald Trump’s supporters on Tuesday as he reacted to the Republican presidential nominee’s weekend rally at Madison Square Garden, which was overshadowed by crude and racist rhetoric.
In a call organized by the Hispanic advocacy group Voto Latino, Biden responded to a comic at Trump’s rally who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.” Biden’s initial comments were garbled.
“Just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage. Well, let me tell you something, I don’t, I don’t know the Puerto Rican that I know, the Puerto Rico where I’m fr -- in my home state of Delaware. They’re good, decent honorable people,” he said.
The president then added: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”
President Donald Trump responded to this statement with class and dignity.
"Trump calls for supporters to 'forgive' Biden in show of unity after president calls supporters 'garbage'
President Biden has received backlash after comparing Trump supporters to garbage
President Trump called on a crowd of supporters to "forgive" President Biden after he compared the former president's supporters to garbage.
"Wow. That's terrible," Trump said, invoking Hillary Clinton’s infamous "deplorable" remarks in the weeks before the 2016 election. "And then she said irredeemable. That didn't work out."
The Republican nominee called on his supporters to forgive him during a packed rally at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
"Garbage, I think, is worse," he said. "But he doesn't know. You have to please forgive him."
"Please forgive him for not knowing what he said," Trump said. "These people are terrible, terrible, terrible to say a thing like that. But he really doesn't know. He really honestly, he doesn't. And I'm convinced that he likes me more than he likes Kamala. But that's a terrible thing."
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump- … rs-garbage
"Supporters". Or. "Supporter's"?
Makes a difference.
One is a plural and the other is possessive...how does it make any difference?
He was very clearly spoken, and his words were surprisingly clear for him. Mike quoted him using Biden's factual words.
Yes, the apostrophe does make a difference. Now there is a serious(?) back-and-forth about whether the "apostrophe" was in the Zoom statement, or added in the 'clarification' text.
Shades of 'sane-washing.' It's like deja vu all over again. Will we never know? Is it possible someone's vote could be changed by an apostrophe? Someone surely has the number for Al Gore's 'chad' investigators. Call them. Votes could depend on it.
GA ;-)
We will never know. If only we were able to detect the apostrophe with the human ear.
To conclude, one must engage in contextual analysis to fully understand a statement. This skill seems to be lacking among some individuals today, who often grasp only a sentence or a single word without considering the entire thought. However, the context of Biden's words is quite clear when one takes the time to listen and read them in full. Understanding the broader context reveals the intent behind his statements and helps clarify their implications.
The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” he uses “supporters” without qualifiers, implying a reference to the base collectively rather than singling out one person. This collective approach is reinforced by his sweeping language that follows, where he calls Trump’s supposed “demonization of Latinos… un-American” and “totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.” Such moral framing typically addresses broader group behaviors or values, not the actions of a single individual. Furthermore, Biden contrasts his view of Trump’s supporters with his positive depiction of Puerto Ricans, whom he describes as “good, decent, honorable people.” Setting up this comparison underscores that he is discussing groups as a whole, rather than any one person. If he had intended to refer to a specific individual, he would likely have added language to make that distinction clear, which he does not do here.
The White House needs a bit of help with contextual analysis, and so do many in our society.
Backing up in the commentary..
So he is clearly talking about the comedian...the commentary continues...
'The only garbage I see floating out there is his [supporters/supporter's] . His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”
What context am I missing here? I have put in bold, "his" who would that be referring to? It would seem that it relates back to the comedian.
The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters.
I think in this sentence supporters is the subject.
Why play grammar games and just admit that biden messed up? It seems so desperate.
Oh yes, when grammar plays games...When he spoke, did you hear if there was an apostrophe or not? Did your ear pick it up?
Changes the whole meaning you know.
"When he spoke, did you hear if there was an apostrophe or not?"
Do you realize this is a bit on the ridiculous side?
What a great skill to to be able to hear punctuation in another person's speech.
"I heard the exclamation point that the end of your sentence."
"That was a question mark."
"I didn't hear a question mark."
"I didn't say an exclamation point."
"I heard an exclamation point."
"It was a question mark."
"I'll give you an exclamation point you %**&^&**&&^!
Sorry, defending him because his punctuation was not able to be heard is kinda silly.
Biden's "garbage" statement warrants a closer look through contextual analysis. He began by addressing a specific individual, a comedian, which set the stage for a more focused critique. However, the transition from targeting one person to discussing broader themes is crucial. After his comments about the comedian, he shifted to discussing a larger group, speaking about Puerto Rican citizens in his own state, which indicated a movement from a personal critique to a collective judgment about a large group of citizens.
By using language that encompasses a whole group, Biden’s words imply that his criticism extends beyond just the comedian to include all those who support Trump. This generalization dilutes the original intent and affects a much larger audience.
When he refers to the group as “garbage,” he dehumanizes and diminishes their value as individuals. Yes, he has the right to free speech, as did the comedian.
His choice of words can be interpreted as a direct insult to Trump supporters, suggesting they lack worth or dignity. Such language carries emotional weight, which can resonate negatively with those in the targeted group. ( as I shared in another comment we all have the right to decipher what others say.) But the party that shared the comment needs to stand behind the view he shared.
Biden's statement doesn't just critique; it also aims to provoke a response from both supporters and opponents. The cumulative effect of Biden's statements reinforces a narrative that alienates and disparages a significant portion of the American populace. Instead of fostering dialogue, it creates division and antagonism. In summary, while Biden may have started with a specific individual, his shift to discussing a broader group, combined with the derogatory language used, clearly indicates an insulting stance toward Trump supporters as a whole.
'The only garbage I see floating out there is his [supporters/supporter's] . His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”
But your analysis doesn't take into account "his". The inclusion of "his" indicates he is continuing to talk about the comedian..."his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable...".
Clearly talking about the comedian. Trump is never in the context of the statement. He begins by talking about the comedian and he ends by talking about the comedian.
I've not seen anything this ridiculous since the Clintons in 1998 had a debate about "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."
Biden meant Trump supporters were garbage. It's time to show some depth of character and own it. Apologize, and move on. harris said she didn't agree with it. She, of all people, isn't playing the grammar game.
These games just make the left seem so very desperate.
For all intents and purposes he declared very loudly for all to hear:
"The only GARBAGE I see floating out there are Trump's supporters."
... spoken like a five year old.
which he pretty much is.
( My father, in his 90's, told me in confidence:
"I can't seem to grow up!")
Treat the comment as though it were coming from a five year old.
Just hug him and tell him he's doing okay for his age.
I agree. I can't comprehend anyone defending the statement. It is time to move on. I mean how does this bode regarding intelligence? My God
Believe what you please, as I do. I truly feel after viewing his statement he was clearly referring to Trump supporters. He has used this kind of ploy frequently ---
Biden did refer to Trump supporters in a controversial way in the past. During a campaign speech in 2022, he described "MAGA Republicans" as embracing "semi-fascism.
In 2018, Biden was critical of groups he believed to be discriminatory, referring to them as the “dregs of society.
Some of the same language is being echoed by Democrat supporters. This is really all they have... It’s telling that hardly anyone brings up anything positive about Harris’s agenda. It may get mentioned, but only very rarely and without much detail.
I’ll be very honest—I just can’t find one redeeming quality in Harris, and I find it baffling that anyone would support such a weak candidate. What also stands out to me is how some of the same people who defended Biden through his failures are now ready to vote once again for someone who, to me, is clearly not fit for the job. It feels like party loyalty is outweighing the need for real strength and capability in leadership.
At some point, it is crucial to look at reality.
Isn't Joe Biden going senile? If that's the case, then should we take anything he says seriously? I don't think what he says matters, as chances are most people by this point already know who they're voting for. Yeah, there might be quite a few swing voters like myself out there that are still undecided, but the vast majority of this country seems to have already made up their own minds who to vote for. Or at least, that's how it seems like to me. Either way, I think everyone should go out and vote this year if they can.
"I think everyone should go out and vote this year if they can."
I agree with you.
The problem is that Joe Biden is still the President of the United States. Having a senile president is a result of the democrats not taking action to remove him from office as should have been done. Any damage he inflicts on the democrats is a result of their choices.
They deserve this.
I understand your perspective on Biden. His mental clarity is a concern for many, and if he is experiencing cognitive issues, that raises important questions about the seriousness of what he says. It’s crucial for us to hold our leaders accountable and evaluate their competence, especially regarding decisions that affect our country as a whole.
While it’s true that many voters may have already made up their minds, dismissing Biden's comments entirely can be risky. It’s worth noting that Harris must have been aware of his condition and chose to keep it from the public who ultimately pay her salary.
Biden’s state of mind could have significant consequences, especially if he only has a few months left in office. Decisions driven by confusion rather than sound judgment could further harm the nation. Voters should be informed about what’s really happening in the White House, particularly since a candidate has openly been part of his decision-making while potentially concealing his cognitive struggles. In my view, Biden's cognitive issues should have been addressed much earlier, as they have already caused considerable damage to our nation.
A stutter does not make someone senile. I do think it is a very curious though that many cannot look at the actual sentence by made about the comedians garbage and cannot understand the meaning through the structure...
I'll ask again, did he mean supporter's or supporters.... He spoke and his spoken word was translated into written word... So which was it?
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his [supporters/supporter’s]–his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”
That response is easily classified as democrat spin.
He said what he said no matter how you try to spin it.
It would be an individual interpretation as to whether he referred to "supporters" or the "supporter's" (the comedian) joke
For me, this makes more sense...
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporter’s–his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”
Who does he refer to when he says "his". Seems to be referring to the comedian?
You and everyone else making a big deal... feigning OUTRAGE... at a STANDUP COMEDIAN making a joke about garbage, are some piece of work ---
All while giving the sitting President of the United States of America a pass, as he refers to half of the PEOPLE of this Nation, as garbage!!!
We can't discuss it, there's no coming back together, working through this, ya'll are too far gone!
Mike, When I heard President Biden call Trump supporters “garbage,” I was genuinely shocked. That kind of language is divisive and frankly beneath the office he holds. What struck me, though, was Trump’s response. Instead of lashing back, he took the high road, saying, "Forgive him'... I’ve listened to Trump openly criticize his opponents and those who have insulted him, but I can’t recall a time when he went after everyday Democratic supporters. It’s a different approach, and like him, I think it’s time to show some forgiveness for Biden’s words.
That said, Biden’s statement doesn’t stand alone—it’s part of a much bigger issue. It’s clear to me that he’s struggling with serious cognitive problems, and it’s deeply concerning that those around him seem to be covering it up. This cover-up feels dangerous, especially when he’s sitting in the White House, making critical decisions for our nation. I’m particularly troubled by Vice President Kamala Harris’s role in all this. She must be aware of his condition, yet she’s hidden it from the American people, and that kind of dishonesty makes me question her trustworthiness. If Biden’s recent walk-back of his “garbage” comment shows anything, it’s the kind of dishonesty I fear she would bring if she took over. Biden’s words were said live and loud, yet the White House skewed the official transcript—a move that, to me, is completely unacceptable in a free nation.
I suggest that anyone with any doubt about what Biden clearly said should watch the video. His words are clear, and the context of his words is clear.

Trump's reply
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuWktfNF1e8
When I watch Kamala Harris on the campaign trail, what I see is a woman who, day after day, uses derogatory language and twisted claims, stirring up division under the guise of dog whistles. She’s taken to making far-fetched accusations against her opponent, which only heighten the hostility and distrust among Americans. It’s troubling, especially given the role of a leader, to watch someone rely on such tactics, especially when we’re already facing so much division.
"I suggest that anyone with any doubt about what Biden clearly said should watch the video."
Does one pronounce "supporter's". differently than "supporters"?
Shar,
We have to give President Donald Trump credit. His response of "forgive him" was both dignified and very presidential.
At the event, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage.” He also made crude, offensive and racist comments about Latinos and Black people.
On Tuesday, during a video call for Latino voter outreach, Biden defended the Puerto Rican community and appeared to criticize either Trump supporters or Hinchcliffe.
“They’re good, decent, honorable people,” Biden said, referring to the Puerto Rican community. “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done.”
----------
As far as I am concerned, if these Trumpers can excuse and accomdate the attacks at MSG that day against not just against Puerto Rican's, but other Latinos and Blacks, with endless spin and diversions, then, in my humble opinion they are GARBAGE. So, why mince words, just because they want to preserve the right of "free speech" to themselves?
"in my humble opinion they are GARBAGE"
That's just sad. Tens of millions of fellow Americans.
Yes, Tens of millions that are happy to bring back the old days of racial oppression, can't you see that this where you are heading? The attack against Haitian groups is another example of the same thing. The resulting strife and turmoil will, with his election, remove America from any further consideration as being great.
Yes, I know YOU, your instincts, reflexes and reactions just as assuredly as the medical mallot on the patella. America supports Trump because America IS Trump. Sad as it is, it is the truth.
Garbage... deplorables... people that shouldn't be allowed to even vote...
White trash, especially the men, that for too long have decided the direction of the country... time to nullify their votes and their voices, whatever it takes, to move the country in the right direction... CRT, DEI, Open Borders, Child Manipulation and Mutilation...
Im sure Biden said supporter's, based on context. But who cares?
If he meant supporters, why is that an issue? Why do you have to defend or even clarify his statement to MAGAs and their fake outrage? When MAGAs defend every insult and offensive comment that Trump and his supporters make daily.
Truth is, some, many, of his supporters are. And Trump def is. GARBAGE
As always no one can figure out who you allude to. I assume due to your post being just below my comment, and the context of your one-liner. You need to learn how to post.
It sounds like you’re suggesting that only certain voices matter. It’s important to remember that every perspective is valid, and dialogue is crucial in a democracy. Instead of dividing ourselves into "majority" and "minority," we should aim to engage in constructive conversations that include everyone.
'The only garbage I see floating out there is his [supporters/supporter's] . His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.
If it's "supporters"meaning plural for all of Trump's supporters wouldn't he have said...
"The only garbage I see floating out there ARE his "supporters" (no apostrophe, plural)...
But he said..
"The only garbage I see floating out there IS his supporter's"... (Apostrophe, singular)
Congruent subject and verb. The subject is singular, the verb should be singular and if the subject is plural, the verb should also be plural.
Biden uses a singular verb. The garbage was the supporter's speech.
I find it interesting how the White House transcript added the word "garbage" along with an apostrophe. When Biden was speaking, he seemed to be referring to a script, and I seriously doubt that any speechwriter would have chosen to use the word "garbage" in that context. It feels like grasping at straws to me, especially considering how often corrections are made to his transcripts.
The recent changes made to the White House transcript following President Biden's remarks about "garbage" reflect a pattern of his staff correcting his statements after the fact. This has become a common practice, with over 150 corrections documented this year alone.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news … s-remarks/
Very dishonest. Weaponizing those who have to clean up his crazy.
Personally, I believe he did not present his thought clearly. He was stuttering, he just didn't coherently connect everything. I don't believe that he would sabotage the Harris campaign by calling citizens garbage. He was taking questions from an interviewer, doesn't seem scripted to me. He generally seems to fumble more when he is off of a teleprompter. But when I look back over the written transcript, I see that his subject and verbs are always congruent. It doesn't really logically make sense to me that he would become incongruent in his sentence structure only in that one section. For me, it is the subject verb congruence.
Plus, I don't believe he has ever evidenced the kind of character that would lead to calling people garbage. It doesn't add up for me but of course others can run with it whichever way they choose.
... and what if he DID mean EXACTLY what he said? how would you feel then?
I would be disappointed. I don't think anyone should call anyone else garbage.
A non-P.C. stand-up comedian at a Trump rally telling a garbage joke v. the sitting President of the United States referring to half of this Nation, (hopefully, well over half now) as garbage!
Trump wasn't even involved in this, yet you brought him in!?
I think it is easy to see high-levels of Trump Derangement Syndrome in this forum.
Not one person on the left stated that calling someone who disagrees with them on politics garbage is wrong. None. That is very telling.
These are soldiers, policemen, nurses, doctors, lawyers and every other aspect of American society. People who obey the law, have good jobs, started businesses, etc.
To label these people as garbage because of their political beliefs is very disappointing.
The only people on the left who came out against what biden said was democrats running for office....that's it.
What a shame.
"The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporter’s — "
If I see a group of "supporters" floating like garbage...."are" they floating or "is" they floating?
I think it is clear that he is describing Hinchcliffe’s rhetoric as “garbage.”
Trump, meanwhile, is unequivocal in his belief that Democrats constitute “enemies from within” who must be vanquished.
It doesnt matter. They desperately need this.
No reason, just repeat it enough. Trump 101.
Mike, it’s time to recognize the skewed mindset we’re witnessing. You could call it TDS—it’s become so prevalent. unhinged
Grace, It has become clear to me that a phenomenon is unfolding before us: we’re seeing a presidential candidate stand at the podium, day after day, making vile accusations against her opponent. Meanwhile, the other candidate speaks with hope and shares solutions to problems that many on the other side oddly choose to ignore. Harris has yet to say anything that even remotely suggests she intends to unite the country. Instead, she continuously spouts falsehoods about her opponent’s character and agenda, evident in the very language she uses. It’s disheartening to witness this style of politicking; while Democrats have long employed harsh tactics, their current strategies seem worse than anything I’ve seen in my lifetime. This kind of propaganda poses a real danger to our society.
Grace, take note: one side is driven by anger and vitriol, while the other is truly enjoying the camaraderie and spirit of the election season. At rallies, one side welcomes people from all walks of life, representing the real workforce, while the other parades a lineup of celebrities that few can actually relate to. Just compare them—it speaks volumes.
This incident highlights the blatant hypocrisy of the other side. They can be up in arms over a comedian’s comments, yet when Biden, the President of the United States, appears on a Zoom call looking like he’s risen from the dead and calls Americans “garbage,” it goes right over their heads. Frankly, it disgusts me. This mindset has become completely revolting to me. Hey, just my view.
It was very 'Tales From the Crypt' right?
P.S. Speaking of which... like my costume?
While I may have problems with your politics, you are a pretty lady....
LOVE your costume! It’s so true—the handwringers can hold on to their anger while we keep enjoying the camaraderie and fun of the season. I’m definitely copying your costume but adding my MAGA hat. I’m all about Making America Have a Sense of Humor Again!
Of course he is involved and responsible for the kinds of people and dialogue that is at his all important gathering. As a candidate for President, I expect more. This thing with the Puerto Rican's and smart minded women will cost him votes. I certainly hope that it does.
Now that I can understand... He most definitely has times when he becomes angry, and goes off teleprompter. I do believe he would use that language. I have been around for his entire career, and he was outspoken and known for his rudeness as a young senator. He had ruff edges. No lists, but he has always shown a side that could be very inappropriate.
"The only garbage I see floating out there...."
So if Biden meant that it was the supporters of Trump who are the garbage he sees floating out there....finish the sentence here so it reflects that thought...
Takers?
The only garbage I see floating out there is the constant stream of mistruths from Kamala Harris. From her exaggerated claims about the administration's achievements to her misleading statements about Trump and his supporters, it’s clear that her rhetoric is designed to distract and divide rather than unite and inform. Instead of addressing the real issues facing Americans, she opts for sensationalism and fear-mongering, further eroding trust in our leaders. So many lies... so many accusations that hold no truth.
"The only garbage I see floating out there is the constant stream of mistruths from Kamala Harris."
Bingo. Singular.

I made my context clear to share my thoughts clearly. I need not go back to change the context, as the White House did regarding Biden's words, as they have done throughout his time in office. Context matters, and so does honesty.

Do some folks understand that 'Is'' is used when the noun or pronoun is third-person singular. ''Are'' is used for all plural nouns and pronouns? ..... Asking for a friend.
Do some not realize, that common sense should play a big part here --- what speech writer would even stick in the word GARBAGE in a speech under any circumstance --- Come on time to buck up and drop this, This is so ridiculous. The entire Democratic crew including Harris is spewing horrible derogatory insults directed at Trump. Uncalled for unproven accusations. Just a few moments ago I watched her on the tube -- state Trump is going to take away healthcare, and you will not have insurance if you have a precondition. Trump has never made that statement... Just as she claimed he was getting rid of SS --- never said that --- she lies openly. Lie after lie.
I love to see Fox playing the tape almost non-stop.
Stepping away from conversing with you --- another one bites the dust.
I think it is clear that Biden is describing Hinchcliffe’s rhetoric as “garbage.”
Hence the use of "IS garbage". "Is" denotes a singular subject. If he were referring to a group of supporters he would have used "are"
He didn't say...
"The only garbage I see floating out there are his supporters" now that statement would reflect that he was calling the supporters garbage.
Really just comes down to basic English.
"what speech writer would even stick in the word GARBAGE in a speech under any circumstance --"
Oh gee, I don't know, maybe the same ones that use the words enemies within, lunatics, vermin, deranged...."
But I think it was also pretty clear he was answering questions from a journalist off the cuff. But really that's neither here nor there.
Odd that you ignore the context of his words, but oh well. As I pointed out, what speechwriter would even include that kind of language in a president’s address to the nation? It definitely sounds like Joe's style when it comes to phrasing. But if it works for you, no problem. I'm just glad, in a way, that Joe's little outburst pulled media attention away from Harris's big night. Maybe he did it on purpose—he's always shown himself to be a bit belligerent.
He can't seem to keep his foot out of his mouth—or even strangers' babies' feet. Now that was truly sick.
The only thing odd, at least for me, is that a forum of writers won't address sentence structure lol
In a demonstration of leadership and strength of character President Donald Trump put on a vest and gave a news conference from a garbage truck. He knows how to turn lemons into lemonade.
"Trump hits Wisconsin in garbage truck 'in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden'
The truck is an apparent dig at President Biden, who called Trump supporters "garbage" during a virtual campaign call on Tuesday
Former President Trump rolled up to the battleground state of Wisconsin in a garbage truck on Wednesday, an apparent reference to President Biden's remarks about supporters of the Republican nominee, which has caused a firestorm for Vice President Kamala Harris in the final days of a hotly contested election.
Trump was pictured in Green Bay inside a white garbage truck wearing an orange reflective vest with "Trump Make America Great Again 2024" emblazoned on the vehicle.
"How do you like my garbage truck?" Trump asked reporters. "This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden."
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump- … -joe-biden
It’s fantastic to see some of the fun from past presidential seasons making a comeback! Trump pulling up in a garbage truck in Wisconsin truly embodies that spirit. He really is the candidate of joy, bringing excitement and laughter back to politics. It’s refreshing to see his joyful character shining through!
I mean, when it comes to derogatory attitudes just have a look-see at a Harris rally.
Hollering Harris! Bringing us all together... LOL
Love it! He really is a man of the people, and a born leader!! MAGA!!!
Also, a funny guy, wearing the vest on stage because it was suggested that it made him look thinner!
A garbage truck? Guess who is in it, how fitting...
Yeah, "Trump will fix it"
And Secretary Clinton called them "Deplorables".
What's your point?
If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck . . . .
Never mind. This is all going to be over soon - one way for another.
I doubt that... I doubt that very much...
It only begins after November 5th...
I don't think anyone knows how this will go... they've tried jailing him, assassinating him, they will not accept the results of the election... they have proven that... the last ten years proves how far they can go...
By no means do I think they have reached the limits of what they are willing to do.
Ken,
Excellent point.
Just when you believe the democrat party can sink no lower they say "hold my beer."
I now believe there are no depths to where they will sink.
They are a sad and desperate political party at the moment.
Agreed—I've never witnessed such hate. There's a party that seems to hate America and is dead set on its destruction. And yet they call Trump vile names, comparing him to notorious historical leaders. They've borrowed every tactic from those who seek total control over society and have clearly brainwashed many. It's not just sad; I'm with Ken—it's very dangerous.
Note how Harris does not touch on the two wars that have cost so many lives, and destroyed a nation. This should have been at the forefront. Her administration is much more responsible for these wars. I am not happy that the media is not covering these wars. This feels familiar.
Its not just dirty politics...
They CANNOT allow Trump to return to the Presidency.
They will do WHATEVER is necessary to stop that from happening.
This post I made in another thread regarding Russia alludes to why it will not be allowed...
https://hubpages.com/politics/forum/362 … ost4347861
They cannot afford to have a Trump, Gabbard, RFK Jr., etc. Presidency that will negotiate with Russia/Putin... that will end the war.
Nor do they want closed borders, nor do they want de-regulation...
As always no one here knows who you are directing your comment to. What point is there in posting a comment? Just learn to hit the reply option.
The democrats have tried to spin biden's garbage comment, deflect biden's garbage comment, play grammar games with biden's garbage comment.
They've done everything except the right thing.
Tell the American people, "He was wrong and he shouldn't have said that about millions of Americans."
biden should then come out and said, "I misspoke and apologize to anyone I might have offended or upset by my comments. It won't happen again and I am sorry."
That is something a leader would do. Accept a mistake, take responsibility for it, and hope for the best. Unfortunately, the people in the biden administration have taken the approach to lecture the American people and tell them THEY misunderstood what biden said. THEY are the problem. THEY should believe the biden spin because they're democrats and should never be held accountable for anything they say or do. If democrats do anything wrong its because the American people didn't understand or are racist, bigots, misogynists, etc. In the democrat world the American people are the problem and not them.
The democrat party at this time in history is truly struggling. They have lousy leadership and that's the problem. Until they accept that reality, get leaders who appeal to ALL Americans, democrats will continue to struggle.

"Until they accept that reality, get leaders who appeal to ALL Americans, democrats will continue to struggle."
LOL... Have you heard your guy speak??
Joe Biden's actual words were:
"The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump's] supporters."
If I give you the benefit the doubt, via an apostrophe in the word supporter's, what then? What did he mean?
He sees that only Trump supporters make garbage?
Do you really have a point, now that you have a taker?
I thought you were allowing inspiration to lead you on a new adventure in writing for an article. Best get back at it or like blue jay that idea will flutter away.
Hooray!
I had images of you diving deep into the annals of the internet to discover images to exemplify the points you were going to make in your article. You know the extra oomph! Something in the order of your Halloween costume, BTW . . . quite cute, too. What is that old adage, a picture is worth a 1,000 words.
"The only garbage I see floating...
Finish the sentence so that it reflects that it is the supporters of trump who are garbage. Would you use "supporters" or "supporter's" and would you use or use the verb "is" or "are".
I am very simply asking anyone to finish this sentence reflecting the thought that a group of supporters can be clearly identified as garbage through the grammar of the sentence. Hey, y'all are the writers here.
The sentence of Biden's you provided...
"The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump's] supporters
"Is supporters".
That doesn't match, "is" is singular and "supporters" with no apostrophe is plural
Deleted
If "supporters" is intended as a mass, then it would be singular and 'is' would be correct.
Whoooeeee, arguing grammar. Inflection and body language are probably next. Is stuttering gone now?
Cred still has my long-handled shovel, but he'll probably loan it to you. ;-)
GA
What?!
The subject is plural? Since when do you use a singular verb with a plural subject? I think you're arguing that supporters are a collective noun?
He treats the word as singular consistently throughout the speech. No plural pronoun like "they" to refer back to a collective noun?
Yep, supporters of Biden is weaponizing the current administration....lol
Yep, that's the ticket. I can read "supporters" as a collective noun.
Am I still wrong? Can a plural refer to a singular, but a singular can't refer to a plural?
GA
You get to choose your reality...
So if you want a plural to be a singular, it can be, no one can tell you its not.
Once again this was a White House hiding a confused president. I call this weaponization, lies, deceit... And ignoring it is a problem. Not the White House problem, our problem. My God, when did our society get so skewed up? Hey, I think we may be ready for a party that speaks for us, and tells us what side is up. We sure the hell are doing a crappy job at it.
That wouldn't work. I can dig up too many instances where I claim there is only one real reality and use my own words against myself.
GA
Yes but collective nouns can be singular or plural. A plural collective noun takes a plural verb.
Plus, he does not use plural pronouns.
So then, I'm right and wrong?
Which "he" does not use plurals, he the pronoun or he the president? I bet 'he' the president would use plural pronouns. Imagine the uproar if refused a guy's they/them request. And couldn't 'he' the pronoun represent the changed mind of the 'he' it represents and change to a they/them if they feel like it — adopting a plural to mean a singular?
More seriously. Consider this; You are still you, but, what if, as you listened to his call (before any media attention at all) you thought he meant Trump supporters as a group, that he really was calling them garbage . . .
It's just a what-if. What if you did think that's what he meant, would the 'apparent' insertion of the apostrophe by the administration be a problem for you?
GA
Biden didn't use plural pronouns. If he were talking about supporters being garbage, he would have used "they" not "he.".
In terms of changing the apostrophe, it seems, at least to me, to have been done to reflect Biden's statement immediately after that he was referring to the comic. What else can be done in the situation? Would it be a problem for me? No I don't think it would be. I think it would cause me to take a deeper look at the transcript. I think it would cause me to consider the constraints of an individual having to transcribe the spoken word. The complexities of the English language can make it quite a challenge.
Let's eat, Bob. or Let's eat Bob. I don't know, if I hear the comma or not, it sure does make a difference.
Yes, have you?
Yes, we’ve heard our guy speak. He consistently highlights what the Biden administration has done to this country, how many are now suffering—not only financially but also emotionally, with broken hearts over Biden and Harris’s failure to secure the border. He points out that Biden could have taken steps four years ago to stop the influx of migrants, just as he finally tried to do two months ago. Trump talks about the economy, the rising costs of everything we buy, and how he intends to fix these problems with clear solutions and a plan to get things done. He also addresses the two wars we’re now entangled in, explaining why "peace through strength" would have been a far better path to prevent them in the first place. Meanwhile, Harris doesn’t even acknowledge the wars, and when pressed, she offers only vague responses without any solutions.
Trump’s love for America is obvious. He speaks openly, honestly, and with a calm, straightforward demeanor. Harris, on the other hand, often puts on an exaggerated, rehearsed display of passion, sometimes talking down to the crowd in a forced, slang-laden tone. Lately, she’s taken to shouting, her face twisted in anger—ironically, resembling the very persona she accuses Trump of emulating. I'm tired of seeing vague insults about a man who has sacrificed so much to show people that our nation is on a dangerous path, one that strays from the democracy we’ve fought to preserve for hundreds of years—a government of the people, by the people.
Again, a forum of writers unwilling to talk about grammar.
Still asking...
"The only garbage I see floating out there...."
So if Biden meant that it was the supporters of Trump who are the garbage he sees floating out there....finish the sentence here so it reflects that thought... Please, just finished the sentence... Someone, anyone..
I thought Trump supporters is more thoughtful than this....LOL
Biden should have just told the truth: 'I said this in a moment of anger and confusion.' Most of us have known his condition for some time and would have let it slide. But instead, they tried to cover it up by altering the transcript—that’s their style. They clearly have no respect for Americans and think we're gullible enough to believe any half-baked story... and, sadly, some do. What speechwriter would even include that language in an address to the people? It’s laughable. But a few have swallowed it and are repeating it. Not many, though—social media has shown that people aren’t so quick to buy into much coming from this White House anymore
That is something a leader would do. Accept a mistake, take responsibility for it, and hope for the best.
Man. No words.
That was a big one. Stop sweeping it under the rug, and admit that Biden royally screwed up.
We on the right know exactly how the "leaders" of the Dem Party feel about us:
"Bitter Clingers" - Barack Obama
"Deplorable", "irredeemable"- Hillary Clinton
"the dregs of society","domestic terrorists", "garbage" - Joe Biden
Trump insults the Dem leaders who continually screw up this Country... Dem leaders continually insult the people!
That's a fact, Jack!
Yes, Trump will fire back at any of the talking heads, including Democrats in Washington. But I’ve never heard him direct his anger at a group of Americans. He definitely fights back and can give better than they can dish out—hence the garbage truck. It completely took the attention away from Harris's big speech.
....and just like that, AB has the title of her next article!
Uh-oh, a news blurb just reported that the White House stenographer's office says the White House admin added the apostrophe to the transcript. They're pissed.
If this is true, once more it's like deja vu all over again. The Dems are caught doing what they so vehemently claim the Repubs do.
Or, is this just a MAGA false claim?
GA
Well since we can't hear an apostrophe, doesn't it make sense that the noun and verb are congruent?
So, official WhiteHouse stenographer transcripts are gospel until one disagrees with their grammatical interpretation? That sounds like it is a matter of grammar now instead of stuttering.
You're sounding like a Republican interpreting the 2nd Amendment's wording.
GA
So we would have to believe that Biden, a man who has been speaking in the political arena for the last 40 or 50 years says "supporters is garbage"?
My common sense, leads me to believe that is unlikely. No congruence problems anywhere in the rest of the transcript... Supporters or supporter's is not detectable from the human ear... What's the solution here? Don't you have to rely on the verb?
LOL, now that's funny!!
Okay ya'll, I am trying to write an article about this beaten dead horse and there are too many distractions.
Do you think this will sink in for those who carry so much hate in their hearts? Do you think it will matter even a bit? So many people seem to have lost both common sense and the ability to reason. Hopefully, this might prompt some to pause and truly reflect on what they’ve become and what they’re willing to believe simply because it aligns with their desires. Shouldn’t this be a wake-up call? This isn’t new—the White House often alters Biden’s transcripts. I can honestly say that because I’ve done the research, and it makes me angry every time. I’m not just frustrated with the White House for covering things up, but also with people who refuse to see what’s right in front of them. We’ve been tolerating a confused man in the White House, a man clearly unfit for his role. What does that say about not only those in Washington but also about us, the people?
Thank you for adding this information. I wish I could hear more of your thoughts on this because it’s something that needs open discussion, not just a few words brushed aside. Apathy is part of why we’re in this situation. Don’t take my comment the wrong, don't get pissed—I just think I’ve got you figured out. I see you as a very intelligent person who doesn’t get ruffled by the small stuff. And this, ultimately, is not small stuff. I would like to hear what you think about this kind of BS.
Apathy isn't a factor in my participation here, the topics are.
I only jumped into this one because it is 'small stuff.' What could be more nationally meaningful than the grammar of proper sentence construction? Just about everything is more important.
GA
Oh yes -- Now I love that reply... A few words told me a hell of a lot. We are on the same train of thought. I wish I could have stayed cooler, and yes, used far fewer words.
As of late that is what the present Democratic Party does. They do the things that they accuse Republicans of doing. The Democratic Party has become the party of revenge & reckoning. They are wreaking revenge on the Republic Party for what the Republic Party has become in the 1980s. The Republican Party started to become extreme in the 1980s so now the Democratic Party is planning to out-extreme the Republican Party. It is the aim of the Democratic Party to REVENGE the Republican Party.
.
The question remains . . .
How many undecided voters votes were swayed due to this incident?
Are you f----g kidding I am still trying to figure out your ... response. Most likely it won't change many because many have already voted and were sort of already ignoring all the other crap the WH has perpetrated. I mean actually, this cheap political trick is a mild one. Oh well, we will get what we get.
"I mean actually, this cheap political trick is a mild one. Oh well, we will get what we get."
What cheap political trick? My post?
Are you saying you know which way the undecided voters vote may have been swayed by the 'garbage' incident? It could go either way or a person may just throw their hands into the air and say What the Fuck . . . it isn't worth it.
Note: Oops! I left the apostrophe out of voter's to make it possessive. Or, was it suppose to be that way? Now I am confused. Maybe it was suppose to be plural?
No not your comment ---
Here is what I shared in response to your post asking could change voter's minds.
"Are you f----g kidding I am still trying to figure out your ...Dot Dot Dot response. to GA. Most likely it won't change many because many have already voted and were sort of already ignoring all the other crap the WH has perpetrated. I mean actually, this cheap political trick is a mild one. Oh well, we will get what we get."
To make my point clearer --- I don't think it would change the minds of those who already chose to ignore all the other problems and dishonesty we have witnessed this White House. Because, in my view, this administration has been very dishonest, non-transparent, and unapologetic when caught in being dishonest. And regarding those that support this bunch, again my view, easily overlook the dishonesty --- so no it would not most likely change many voters. I will leave it there, my view is my view, and it certainly could insult users.
Regarding your dot dot dot ---It could be taken in many ways --- it typically indicates just a pause, a bit of hesitation, or an expression of confusion, disbelief, or annoyance. I take it as a suggestion that the person is unsure of how to respond. That's why I inquired about it.
I just hoped to get your opinion—sticking with your subject—would this kind of dishonesty and actual weaponization of government have changed your vote? I realize you’ve already voted, so this is a bit of a moot question. But I’d really like to understand more about your mindset.
Thanks for the reply and elaborating for understanding.
As far as . . .
[One meaning for the space → dot, space → dot, space → dot followed closely by empty space, a void, or perhaps endlessness is having the same dramatic effect as a drum roll creating tension with the observer. Also, another meaning is both the utilization of symbols used with writing while is accompanied by an artistic endeavor defining an empty canvass offering the observer opportunity for discovery of meaning in the abstract form for what was previously written, which at that point is in the past. Any conjured thoughts are in the present. It 'may' or 'may not' be followed with meaning to myself, which in the case of my post was the actual question.]
Continuing, I posted the universal Recycle → Reduce → Reuse logo as a message for 'how' the undecided voter is being influenced or perhaps manipulated by any choice of force, e.g. the media and/or the political campaign of a candidate. However, as any artistic expression it is subject to the observer's own interpretation for who knows what.
Next, is to address, "I just hoped to get your opinion—sticking with your subject—would this kind of dishonesty and actual weaponization of government have changed your vote? I realize you’ve already voted, so this is a bit of a moot question. But I’d really like to understand more about your mindset."
Though I have voted, I am an undecided voter in the sense I did not vote for any person on the ballot. I did a write-in, which could be construed I did decide. Answering your inquiry, no it would not have changed my vote, yet more importantly influenced it one way or the other with the two dominant party candidates. Neither did the joke of the comedian at Trump's rally about Puerto Rico. Maybe that is because I am not emotionally invested in those two parties or their candidates.
I am going all out a few words. Would it have changed your vote?
Why is this so hard? Throughout it's in the singular talking about the "comedian" and what he said.
Are you kidding --- it has just been admitted the White House changed a transcript. and no there was no apostrophe just a confused man in a position where he could speak to our nation, and then his lackeys cover up for his confusion.
"it has just been admitted the White House changed a transcript. and no there was no apostrophe".
Again, how do you hear an apostrophe? A transcript is based on someone's ear... It is quite subjective to decide to hear "supporters" versus "supporters". All one can do is look for the grammatical congruency. Rely on something that has basis in fact rather than emotion
So do we need to rename the topic of this thread?
Currently...
"Biden suggests Trump supporters are ‘garbage’'
Corrected...
"Biden suggests Trump supporters is ‘garbage’"
Thank you, Joe! What a nice October surprise. Do you have any more? I can only imagine many this morning would like to get their mail-ins back for a do-over. The gift that just keeps giving.
Biden, according to a transcript prepared by the official White House stenographers, told the Latino group on a Tuesday evening video call, "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it's un-American."
The transcript released by the White House press office, however, rendered the quote with an apostrophe, reading "supporter's" rather than "supporters," which aides said pointed to Biden criticizing Hinchcliffe, not the millions of Americans who are supporting Trump for president.
The change was made after the press office "conferred with the president," according to an internal email from the head of the stenographers' office that was obtained by The AP. The authenticity of the email was confirmed by two government officials who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters.
The supervisor, in the email, called the press office's handling of the matter "a breach of protocol and spoliation of transcript integrity between the Stenography and Press Offices."
"If there is a difference in interpretation, the Press Office may choose to withhold the transcript but cannot edit it independently," the supervisor wrote, adding, "Our Stenography Office transcript — released to our distro, which includes the National Archives — IS NOW DIFFERENT than the version edited and released to the public by Press Office staff."
"The transcript released by the White House press office, however, rendered the quote with an apostrophe, reading "supporter's" rather than "supporters,"
Maybe they should have included both?
Maybe now they will answer to the National Archives. And hopefully more will come out about the many other times that this bunch has taken it upon themselves to change transcripts. I am very sure we will see much more in the next few days in regard to the unique way this White House has manipulated transcripts.
"Our Stenography Office transcript — released to our distro, which includes the National Archives — IS NOW DIFFERENT than the version edited and released to the public by Press Office staff."
When a singular and plural of a word is pronounced the same, and we must rely on someone's ear to complete a transcript, what can be done?
I’ve moved on from interpreting what you think he meant; I’m focused on the present—his lackeys changed the transcript. I enjoy pointing that out, so keep sharing your views.
I’m not sure why anyone is giving your thoughts so much attention instead of addressing the bigger lie here. They knew what he said, and he knew it too. They just got out a mop, and eventually, someone will be blamed for old Joe’s angry outburst. I’m not giving you that attention; I’ll leave that to others.
I’m actually glad he said it; he must have felt pretty good. He’s bound to have some pent-up anger from being left out in the cold. Hopefully, he shares more like that. Just like old Bill did yesterday when he admitted that Trump’s economy was great. They might need an entire corral for this crew.
So, why are we nit picking this to death? We all are tied up with grammar and syntax?
MAGA has been accusing Biden of being senile anyway. So, is it possible that he made an error?
I have had to listen to Trump's outrageous statements on everything under the sun. BS that MAGA spins into the consistency of cotton candy. I can take Trump's verbatim comments and you all tell me he really means something else?
So, I really don't care what Trump or MAGA thinks at this point. It is just imperative that they be defeated next Tuesday.
This has nothing to do with Trump hold your guy accountable. Or can't you do that? And this will be conflated by the national archives most likely. It would seem you are unable to discuss the dishonesty, of this act.
Tampering with a White House speech transcript raises serious ethical and legal questions, but whether it is explicitly illegal can depend on various factors, including the context and intent behind the changes. Generally, altering official documents or transcripts for deceptive purposes could be considered a violation of federal law, especially if it involves misrepresenting information to the public.
And you know what I am a MAGA -- and I don't care what you think. Because it's clear you can overlook dishonesty when convenient and suits your view. Just add Trump in, yeah that will work... laughable.
By the way, this has nothing to do with grammar. Maybe read a bit about the subject. This White House changed a transcript and someone will take the heat for doing so. And they deserve it.
Were you not listening, I am the first Anti-Trump that acknowledges the possibility of a faux pas by Biden?
I just weary of the double standards where my side has to always play by the rules of political civility while your side can say the most vile things and excuse and get away with them
As far as I am concerned, this is war against a disgusting and vile excuse for a human being, and I will not bring a pea shooter to a gunfight.
---------
"Because it's clear you can overlook dishonesty when convenient and suits your view. Just add Trump in, yeah that will work... laughable"
So do you, and you would rather dismiss the truth when it is unpleasant or contrary to your unreasonable belief system, regardless of the evidence. But that is Trump-think for you.
You once told me to excuse Trumps words and look at his actions and policies, which are nothing in my opinion. So, can I avoid Biden's words and just look at his policies over the last 3 years for which I approve for the most part?
With all the terrible lies, vile threats and misstatements Trump has spewed over this campaign, Biden's misspeak is a relative drop in the Pacific.
"my side has to always play by the rules of political civility while your side can say the most vile things and excuse and get away with them"
WHEN have democrats EVER played by the rules of political civility?
THAT is comedy gold. I love it. Thanks for the laugh.
The Hitler comparisons, the dictator comparisons, the deplorables comments, the bitter clinger comments, etc. etc. etc.,
The latest is Mark Cuban saying President Donald Trump doesn't like strong, intelligent women. He won't have them around. There are millions of strong, intelligent, Republican women who are fired up by this comment.
Keep it coming democrats, the base is more fired up now than in 2016 partly due to the things you say.
Mike, give people enough rope & they will hang themselves. Let them keep putting their foot in their mouths. Trump is a more reasonable, intelligent person than both Biden & Kamala will ever be. All Kamala does is babble incoherently & cackle like a person in an insane asylum.
Oh dear God, Biden's policies were deleterious to America. Because of the influx of illegals, crime has risen. There is also astronomical inflation. The Democratic Party & its followers are adhering to the Goebbels playbook- tell lies long enough and people will believe them to be true. One has to lose his/her grip on reality to believe that Biden policies were beneficial to America.
Say and believe what you will.
There have always been wars and rumors of wars long before I was old enough to vote. The status of the economy is satisfactory to me as Trump left it as a train wreck.
But what I will not tolerate and will vehemently vote against are candidates and a political party who advocate racism and misogyny as its foundation.
--------
From the Washington Post
"These sorts of threats to perceived status — to the primacy of men and White people in particular — sit at the heart of Trump’s support."
For obvious reasons, with that I cannot abide. If this is who you (they) are, I want nothing to do with you (them)
Could there be a more disgusting, racist statement than one accusing all White people of supporting the tremendous evil of a Trump presidency?
You claim to you don't want to see racism...then vote for the party that does NOT support such racism. And make sure to stay far away from the Democrat party, for they continue to support, advocate and force racism on us all. That it is racism and discrimination against Whites and Asians rather than that of blacks hundreds of years ago is irrelevant; racism and discrimination is racism and discrimination and it is wrong.
Wilderness, you can believe what you want. But while there are questions regarding an aspect of two of discrimination by Democrats in your reference, comparatively on the subject of racism the Republicans are immersed in it.
So, we will see you on the "other side". My hopes are that sanity will prevail on Nov. 5. And that ain't Trump.
It is so odd to me that democrats would call any other living being on the planet insane. They don't even know what is a woman.
Trump remains an idiot and an insufferably stupid man. And come Nov. 5, he will show that he has contributed to his own downfall.
Trump & his cohorts equal sanity while Kamala & her demonhorts equal insanity at its highest inane level. Here is a metaphoric analysis of the situation as demonstrated in this picture:
Exactly which qualities do you find that Trump shares with Jesus? In my opinion, this comparison is blasphemous.
Thank you for bringing this up. As a Christian, I have thought about this.
When I think about Trump’s qualities, some do remind me of how Jesus stood for certain values and ideals. Trump’s unyielding commitment to speak openly, no matter the backlash, mirrors Jesus’ boldness in speaking the truth as he saw it, regardless of public opinion or authority. Trump takes on the political establishment and what he sees as corruption, which reminds me of how Jesus challenged religious elites who were misusing their power.
Then there’s his compassion for the “forgotten” Americans—the working class, rural communities, and those who feel left behind. Jesus always showed compassion to those society ignored or overlooked, and many people see Trump reaching out to these groups and taking up their cause in a similar way. He’s been relentless in defending his beliefs and standing up for his supporters, inspiring deep loyalty, similar to the disciples’ devotion to Jesus.
And, just as Jesus was opposed by powerful authorities in his time, Trump has faced severe opposition from political and media establishments, and he’s even been the target of violence—like the shooting attempt during his campaign. Yet, despite the odds and opposition, he keeps going, much like how Jesus never backed down. The resilience Trump shows, even under fire, resonates with many who see him as a fighter for their beliefs, unshaken by the obstacles in his path.
At the heart of what I see in Trump is his focus on action over mere words, which resonates with me and reminds me of Jesus’ approach. Jesus didn’t judge people simply by what they said but by their actions and their hearts. Trump’s willingness to overlook insults or criticisms and focus on what he sees as the bigger mission—supporting the country and protecting those who believe in him—feels similar to that value. Jesus taught this principle of looking at actions, not just words, as in Matthew 7:16, where he said, “You will know them by their fruits.”
This verse reminds me that genuine leadership shows in what someone does rather than what they say, and for many, Trump’s actions speak louder than any words others might say about him.
"Republicans are immersed in it"
Maybe it’s time to take a closer look at which party is truly spreading hate, dependency, and empty promises—hope that never seems to materialize. Your party is great at telling people what they want to hear, but they never actually deliver. Biden didn’t just fail to deliver for Black Americans; he reversed progress, pushing Black unemployment back to pre-Trump levels. Public schools are packed with migrants, and housing is prioritized for them over struggling citizens. I could go on, but it feels pointless. I’m tired of hearing the lies about Republicans holding Black Americans down—that’s coming from your own party.
Much of the problem of why blacks have lost growth lies at their own feet. They have faith in a party that has failed them for decades.
I second this & I saw this firsthand. Democrats know this & treat Blacks like personae non gratae because they know that Blacks will vote for them no matter what. Democrats, as of late, have put every constituent before their Black constituents.
As an older woman, I've witnessed racism firsthand and have seen the great strides made to combat it. Over the past decade, regardless of differing opinions on the pace of progress, I've sadly observed some of those advancements being rolled back. However, I believe many Black individuals are starting to explore what Trump has to offer, and that gives me hope. Even if Trump doesn’t win, I think that with four more years of Democratic rule, we’ll see more Black citizens awakening to the reality that the Democrats have not had their best interests at heart for many decades now.
Many years ago, I identified as a Democrat, but I eventually left the party when I recognized the dishonesty and hypocrisy in their treatment of Black citizens. The disconnection between their promises and actions became increasingly clear to me, leading to my decision to seek a political path that better aligned with my values.
What do you think that I have been doing for over 60 years in regard to the closer look? Like I said before, if Trump was this great God send to the Black community why is he only slated to get 15 percent of the vote. Trump's Xenophobia as shown by his accommodation to the attack on Puerto Rican's is coming off as far more racist instead. The Reublicans simply are not as supportive of goals and aspirations as the Democrats have been. And let's face it, I am in a better position to understand that than any Anglo type.
I tried to explain this to you in detail before in an earlier thread, but you just ignored it or backed away because you had no reasonable rebuttal to the information I presented.
"The Republicans simply are not as supportive of goals and aspirations as the Democrats have been. And let's face it, I am in a better position to understand that than any Anglo type."
What have the Democrats done for you? Simple question--- what have they done?
I can assure you if you can list something anything --- I will give you a rebuttal, and it will be long, and most likely very direct.
I can assure you if you can list something anything --- I will give you a rebuttal, and it will be long, and most likely very direct.
Good, we will start there, I will get this together in a little while.
I attempted to address your questions a week ago with this reply
------------
I am back, Sharlee. In response to your comment, I will not cop-out, but please do more than just hear but to listen and there is a difference.
I cannot hope to compete with your inexhaustible research on every thing that you discuss, so my attempt will be feeble at best.
So, lets talk about his deeds, I will start with this all important sentence.
“Black voters are looking for a comprehensive agenda that will get at the structural barriers blocking Black mobility in this country,” she said.”
If an administration or politicians are not working toward that, then I have no use for them.
Please read the articles carefully and see what “deeds” can actually be attributed to Donald Trump on behalf of the Black community
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/0 … ies-433744
https://www.vox.com/21524499/what-trump … ack-people
I say that Trump’s deeds are tepid at best and his racially inflamatory rhetoric just puts that much more suspicion as to his actual motives, as words and deeds should be linked and if one is inconsistent with the other, I am going to harbor attitudes of distrust.
For example:
The greatest president for Blacks since Lincoln, he says. I not only take offense as to what has to be a brazen lie that even a middle schooler could discern but in the fact that the flippant comment shows a fundamental disrespect for the actual Black experience in America.
I am not defending Kamala Harris as if I do not have issues with her. Like I said, Oakland is a “tough town”, I know because I have been there. Prosecutors in tough towns with high crime rates are not always the most popular people. Disparate police conduct and an unequal criminal justice is not just found in Oakland, but throughout America. Regardless, I am far more anti-Trump than I am pro-Harris. But, in my universe, I have to accept the lesser of two evils, and that certainly is not Donald Trump.
But, Trump’s past, present and future gives off a far greater stench than any behavior that characterized VP Harris, in my humble opinion, of course.
By not moving the needle forward and turning back the clock in other ways, he is not moving things consistently with the “prime directive” stated earlier in this comment. So, he cannot be given credit for representing “all of us”.
I am not ignoring her short comings, I am just saying that from my perspective Trump has a lot more, which have dire implications for me and my community. Democrats have simply always have done better. But, your questions regarding Black folks looking at Harris and her record are valid. But, as I said…….
I hope that this begin to answer your questions without a cop-out.
Cred, anyone who votes for Harris is making a grave mistake of epic proportions. Harris will exacerbate Biden's inane socioeconomic policies plus add more policies of her own. She will keep the borders open. She will further increase inflation. She even proposed more ridiculous policies. There is enough problems caused by the Biden administration. People have been cowered by the hyperbolic 2025 policies. If Black people want to get ahead(btw, I am Black), they must be accountable & take responsibilities for their actions. They must value education & achievement. They must not blame racism for not achieving their goals.
What many Blacks refuse to acknowledge that Harris is using celebrities & rappers to garner the Black vote. Harris thinks that she is FAR BETTER than the hoi polloi she is pandering to. Obama & Michelle thinks the same way. In their eyes, you are no one of significance-you can be made malleable to vote who they WANT you to vote for. Obama, Biden, & Harris DON'T care about the middle class at all. They only care about the uppermost middle & upper classes. They think of the middle class as something to scrape off.
When asked questions, Harris either gives general or evasive answers. I don't want anyone like that to lead America. Any Black person who votes for Harris is voting for his/her doom. Harris doesn't care about Black people at all. She is only using the fact that she is "partially Black" to garner the Black vote. I, for one, am voting for someone who will improve America by implementing practical socioeconomic policies & a sane government- TRUMP 2024.
My question wasn’t about comparing Trump to Harris or diving into the election. Trump’s got nothing to do with what I’m asking here. I simply wanted you to pause and think: what has the party I belong to actually done for me lately? In past discussions, we compared parties, and I highlighted what I see as meaningful things Trump did to improve the lives of Black citizens. At that time, you had to go back decades to find any comparable actions from your party, and I agreed with what you found. You labeled Trump’s efforts as “tepid,” but I felt they were real, positive steps that made a difference for Black citizens.
Now, I’m asking again about what the Democratic Party has done recently. For example—and this should be straightforward—what has the Biden administration accomplished to make life better for Black citizens? We’ve heard plenty of promises and nice words, but where are the deeds? Besides Obamacare, I honestly can’t point to much that’s been done over the decades.
Your response once again focuses on what Trump has said, as though words are more important than a president who delivers tangible solutions and meaningful actions to improve lives. But in truth, the Democrats’ record for Black citizens has hardly been a positive one. Some of the positive changes Trump achieved, like lower unemployment rates, have already slipped backward under Biden. Much of it was reversed with the stroke of Biden’s pen—though you wouldn’t know this, given how the media fails to report it. I’ve watched Harris closely and listened carefully to her promises of uniting the nation and bringing change, but it’s the same broken record they play every election. Frankly, what I see is her talking down to her audience, failing to offer a genuine, logical agenda.
The Democrats don’t even seem to be going through the motions anymore. They seem confident that Black votes are in the bag and rely on promises of freebies to keep voters satisfied, even when they know these promises aren’t feasible. At this point, I honestly think Trump’s question—“What do you have to lose?”—really sums it up.
I appreciate your reply. Yet you did not answer my question--- What have the Democrats done for you? Simple question--- what have they done?
Sharlee, I no longer have respect for the Democratic Party. The party has devolved mightily. Those who are cognizant knew that Biden was senile from the beginning. Listen to his speech. The man wasn't bright even before his senility. Yet the Democratic apparatus covered for him & excused his wrongs. They are doing the same w/Kamala.
Democrats are taking insanity to another level. Everything is inverse. What is good is bad & what is bad is good. They are making abnormality & what is abhorrent normal.
Grace,
I totally agree, and it’s really clear that Harris is using all the tactics she’s accused Trump of in the past. The outright lies she’s spreading at rallies are shocking—I've never seen anything quite like it. When she speaks, it feels almost robotic, like she's wound up to repeat the same lines over and over, often with that same odd, frozen expression. She’s becoming almost a mirror image of Biden in that way. Their main tactic seems to be taking what was once considered good and twisting it into something negative, all while directing people’s attention exactly where they want it.
One can surmise that she took a very difficult job. She is being paid for her services as an actress and must stick to the script she has agreed to present. I hope she is happy with all the money she is earning.
But in the middle of the night with the covers pulled up tight, will it come to her? ... and feel guilty and remorseful about what she is doing?
prolly not.

Kamala is a DRAMA QUEEN. She is the best drama queen. It is sad that many people refuse to acknowledge this.
I agree with you.
The frustrating thing is democrats have let their delusional thinking become their reality. If you try to bring that back into reality, they call you names, become angry and sometime violent. Mostly they justify their bizarre actions by playing victims and they HAVE to do the crazy things they do.
I feel your frustration.
Bullseye...
And the world will destroy us for putting such incompetence in charge... back-to-back... they are ready to pounce... Russia, Iran, North Korea, China, and all the rest they are pulling to their side...
Its been over 30 years of America being the bully on the block, taking down Iraq, Libya, trying to take down Syria... stopped by Russia saying enough is enough and defending Syria...
The world does not see us the way Americans see themselves...
The world... the entire nonwestern world... has turned against America... the UN, the entire UN except for Israel has been voting against America's efforts, thanks to the incompetence and arrogance of this Administration... on almost every major issue the past few months.
Sadly, Americans are so busy looking at their navel and trying to decide whether what a comic says is racist or not... they are oblivious to the world going up in flames all around them.
This changes everything about Trump... doesn't it?

You can say many things about President Donald Trump and what he is but you must agree he is an entertainer.
That certainly is NOT the type of personality that becomes what they claim him to be.
Compared to the other side... who first took Dementia Joe out of the basement to be their puppet... and are now telling the American people that Harris, who America never voted to be the Nominee, is their choice...
Harris... who has such a wonderful track record, getting to be where she is today, and who has such a wonderful dad ... who has had no children of her own... who has no 'skin in the game' so to speak.
Yep... the world has even more respect for her than it does Basement Biden... old Sleepy Joe has nothing on Harris on the global stage, let me tell you. Putin and Co. are trembling in their boots...
In excitement at the opportunity that awaits them with a Harris Administration to come.

Cred, you once told me that I might be surpised to know that you are a Christian. As a fellow Christian, please take a few minutes out of your day to watch the following, it's worth a watch:

Before I spend my valuable time of somewhere near an hour does he endorse any candidate or party?
Is it not strongly implied? For me, it's a Trump supportive speech full of obscure Bible quotes taken out of context to support MAGA talking points.
That's your take, and you are welcome to it.
Thanks, AB! I book marked it for an early morning to watch/listen to after my devotional.
Good. I will be interested in 'hearing' your thoughts.
Keeping it succinct . . . I found it to be interesting and thought provoking while at the same time I experienced the conviction of the Holy Spirit to be wary as to the intent of the sermon. To me, with the topics discussed, it cast Harris as the unrighteous and Trump as the flawed, though no names were mentioned. There was enough offered to get a strong inference. To me it offered a spiritual loop hole to vote for Trump. An interesting premise

I'm sorry, I don't understand your post. How is it related to my post?
"I am weird" I much rather would have heard him speak on voting (period) and not how to vote. But, that is me."
It would seem I did not get your point. I felt you were sharing That the main point seems to be that straightforward discussion about the importance of voting itself, was more important than doing the deed of voting. My apology, I clearly missed context. To be blunt-- I think I have pegged you for something you are not.
Thank you for the reply offering understanding.
"To be blunt-- I think I have pegged you for something you are not."
You aren't alone as most do half of the time I would suspect. My perspective is tainted as most by life experiences. From the Christian Perspective I surrendered my life to Christ way back in '67 and was baptized in the Mud River in West Virginia, which I joke about. It goes like this, "My sins were washed away with mud." So, in essence, over some 57 years now the Holy Spirit has been molding me for God's purpose and not my own while not knowing if any purposes have already occurred.
It’s amazing how our life experiences shape us! Your journey since '67 is truly inspiring, and it's wonderful to see how your faith has guided you for so many years. The idea of being molded for God's purpose is beautiful, and I'm sure you’ve touched many lives along the way, even if you don’t always see it. Keep shining your light!
I really appreciate your threads; they’re always fresh and thought-provoking, providing plenty of food for thought!
Washed in the blood and the mud!!?! Tim, you are beyond "molding", you are built solid; built to last!
I watched it and while the minister made a compelling.case, that is not how I see things
Here is an interesting video. It shows Harris's amazing ability to speak
on and on and on ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrZ1OQbGSbU
What I got from this video is that she is very narcissistic, doesn't have much of a heart and really truly is about the triple bottom line: Money, Fame, Power.
... but others may find something else.
I have my opinion about Harris- she is totally full of it. Of course, she is narcissistic. To reiterate, she doesn't care about the voters, she cares ABOUT HERSELF & HOW SHE LOOKS. She is using celebrity power to say, "you paeans, I am so much better than you so I know how to govern you, so shut up & obey me if you know what is good for you." Her attitude demonstrates that she is heartless. She claims that she cares but she DOESN'T. However, she has guile to use unsuspecting voters to vote for her because of her "charisma". She KNOWS how to USE people.
"she is narcissistic. To reiterate, she doesn't care about the voters, she cares ABOUT HERSELF & HOW SHE LOOKS. She is using celebrity power to say, "you paeans, I am so much better than you so I know how to govern you, so shut up & obey me if you know what is good for you."
I think all of this makes her a very typical democrat politician running for high office.
I agree. In my view, she gave them all the words they wanted to hear—promises and all the empathetic sentiments many people crave. But they fail to take a moment to stop and recognize that this is the same rhetoric we hear every election cycle—a broken record of empty promises. Yet somehow, many of us come back for more. The Democrats build up their supporters with mere words, telling them they’re special and deserve more, all while knowing those words are just that—hollow statements. This kind of politicking is disrespectful, dishonest, and frankly, sad. I’ve expressed before that I believe Americans, particularly Black Americans, are starting to see through this form of political manipulation. I have faith in the innate spirit of the American people.
Thanks Tim. Yes, he is more than likely a Trump supporter.
Two lines that I jotted down while listening:
"If Godly people won't lead their Nation [by voting], Godless people will."
"Jesus is not on the ballot, get over it."
Love it!
"If Godly people won't lead their Nation [by voting], Godless people will."
I can go with that quote. For me while remembering I have confessed in these forums many times, "I am weird" I much rather would have heard him speak on voting (period) and not how to vote. But, that is me.
"Jesus is not on the ballot, get over it."
Very true!!
As Christians, today, we have no choice but to shout our convictions. Non-Christians, the ungodly... sure as heck don't keep their opinions to themselves.
Absolutely, I couldn't agree more! As Christians, it’s essential for us to boldly express our convictions, especially in a world where others are not afraid to voice their beliefs. Sharing our faith can be a powerful testament to our values and can inspire others to seek truth and understanding.
I'm not so interested in what a political party has done for me as much as judging them for what they have done for others.
And, "godly people" are sometimes misled.
"a spiritual loop hole to vote for Trump"
Well said. A spiritual loop hole is the only way to rationalize support for a man with his characteristics. And a Christian really has to contort himself to manage to wriggle through it considering the myriad tenants of the faith for which Trump has demonstrated no comprehension at all.
I understand that it may be hard for some to reconcile support for Trump with faith, but people’s reasons for supporting a candidate can come from many places, not just their personal character but also their policies and actions. For me, supporting him doesn’t require twisting my beliefs; I see it as a practical choice for what I believe is best for the country. Faith isn’t about perfection in every person we support but about doing our best to align with principles that matter to us. We all consider different things, and while we may not agree on everything, is it fair to question each other’s sincerity?
