Economists predicted the US would gain nearly 1 million jobs in April, as it did in March, but instead, it seems they were very much off the mark with a wimpy gain of 266,000. And yet there is help wanted signs everywhere you look.
The unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 6.1% — it's about twice the pre-crisis level. There are still 8.2 million fewer jobs than there were last February before the crisis began. The consumer price index rose a remarkable 4.2%. The Biden administration has maintained that inflation will be temporary. Really Joe?
So, Biden pushed through his "American Rescue Plan," in late March, his plan was said to be designed to help American's get back on their feet... The American Rescue Plan raised up unemployment benefits by $300 per week in federal funding, a move I can proudly say Republicans said would detract those receiving the pumped-up cash benefits from taking jobs where they might make less, and just sit home until they ran out of benefits.
The consumer price index for April confirms what most Americans already know. Prices are going up especially for basics like food.
Food price inflation, on a 12-month unadjusted basis, is running at 2.4% and was up 0.4% in April, the largest increase since October 2020. Overall inflation is running at 4.2% the largest 12-month increase since a 4.9% increase for the period ending September 2008. Gas prices rising along with utility costs --- It's called inflation, Welcome back... It sure did not take Biden to put us in the red.
"Since we took office, we’ve gone from an economy in crisis to one that is projected to grow faster than it has in nearly 40 years," the president tweeted. "That’s progress. Let’s keep it going." President Biden May 22, 2021, Really Joe, really? He out and out lied, again to hear himself lie.
His policies are flawed, his agenda is all-out crazy. Just my view and I am sticking with it.
Anything to add?
Canada is worst and have harder covid lockdowns now than the US. Hyper inflation is causing a communist like Country. Over printing monetary financial system has not found another escape from the US dollar and global collapse yet. Many world leaders keep pushing WEF solutions yet that will fail also.
Not sure at all that the "jobs" figure is accurate; while there aren't as many employed, and unemployment is still double what it was, the number of jobs that are available is quite high. They just aren't being filled, and I doubt that the bean counters are counting those "help wanted" ads in figuring the number of jobs.
But you are absolutely correct in that inflation is climbing, and fast. Companies are having to pay considerably more to get people to work and prices are rapidly rising as a result.
This, if course, is primarily to the fantastic idea of paying people more to sit home than to work. A great kudo to Biden! (Not). As always the liberal policy of throwing money at every problem has proven to be not only a failure, but has made it worse.
My reference for jobs number used in comment -- "Businesses have a record 8.1 million jobs to fill. The problem, they say, is getting enough people to fill them.
Job openings in the U.S. topped 8 million in March for the first time ever, the Labor Department said Tuesday. There were 7.5 million open jobs in February.
The number of job openings is now well above prepandemic levels and easily exceeds the all-time peak of 7.57 million set in November 2018. They had fallen to as low as 4.6 million last year in the early stages of the pandemic".

In our history, we have never witnessed this form of spending. Hopefully, Biden's agenda is dead in the water. This administration is dangerous, and the sooner we replace it the better.
Free money and lots of time on your hands. Can be a dangerous thing.
Certainly is! It is an increasing problem with our youth, and when the requirement to work to produce your needs spreads to adults it will grow there, too. How many of the rioters last year, bouncing city to city wherever the "protests" were and including those at the Capital, have 40 hour jobs?
Great point our crime rate here in America is up, and with summer coming it will only get worse. 2021 is on its way to break records.
In your Biden photo, it looks like he is having trouble with his false teeth. Maybe be bit more off than he could chew.
Yes, it does, I thought this photo suited the thread, when Biden has a problem he just smiles and denies there is a problem.
That picture captures him perfectly.
He is nothing more than s puppet, and his false teeth and clueless expression does well to confirm what any observant person can demise.
What planet do you folks live on? Were you here the last four years? "Just my view and I'm sticking to it." That's the problem.
George Lucas ask me to sculpture Aliens from other planets. I couldn't because of no evidences of aliens creature yet. Wish I could go to another more intelligent planet. Just have to accept a few agreeable humans for personal growth for now. In my world everything has a solution, political and religion is not it.

This is, of course, an open question since he has just started his four years, but since the RINO Party is already saying defeating Covid and growing the economy is a disaster, I thought I would start a thread that proves them wrong.I just listed two things he has done:- Got America well on its way...

The economy is big, complex and difficult for most people to understand. In reality, the president may not have as much control over the economy as people tend to think. The Federal Reserve, for instance, has a much more direct influence over how well the economy does. I've read a lot of...

There is good inflation and their is bad inflation. What we experienced from 2009 - 2021 was the good type of inflation, between 1 and 3% a year. What we are experiencing now between 5 and 9% inflation is bad inflation. What we experienced in the 1980s, 10 to 15% inflation is...

With inflation rising and gas prices surging, Biden faces hard political realities ahead of the November midterm elections. Part of the problem could be if he pushed too quickly to initiate his plan for clean energy. He came into office and used his pen to truly piss off "big...
