All you needed to do Joe was order the vaccine. It's not like you needed to have brand new vaccines created Joe. Come On Man...

    Wahington post ---
Inside America's monkeypox crisis and what made it worse.    -4 days ago — For two months, the Biden administration has been chased by headlines about its failure to order enough vaccines, and speed treatments,
"The nation’s top health officials believed they had finally hit upon a solution to quell weeks of public criticism about the straggling government response to the monkeypox outbreak spreading across the country this summer.

They would stretch the nation’s limited supply of the only FDA-approved vaccine for monkeypox by splitting doses to cover five times as many people — an admission, after repeated reassurances by top government officials, that the United States did not have enough shots for every at-risk American, after all.

But after Health and Human Services officials announced their proposal on Aug. 4, Paul Chaplin, chief executive of Bavarian Nordic, the vaccine’s manufacturer, called a senior U.S. health official and accused the Biden administration of breaching its contracts with his company by planning to use the doses in an unapproved manner. Even worse, said two people with knowledge of the episode, Chaplin threatened to cancel all future vaccine orders from the United States, throwing into doubt the administration’s entire monkeypox strategy.

“People are begging for monkeypox vaccines, and we’ve just pissed off the one manufacturer,” said one official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment." Please read on

On August 4th the US had  6,600 in the US, according to health officials.  Aug 20 The CDC reports we have 14,594 cases. America reports the largest number of cases. in the world.

Aug 4, 2022 --   The US government has declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency following a spike in cases.

The decision will speed up the distribution of vaccines, treatments, and federal resources to curb the spread of the virus.

It comes less than a fortnight after the World Health Organization (WHO) issued its highest emergency alert following a worldwide surge in cases.

A quarter of these cases have appeared in the state of New York, which declared its own state of emergency over the disease last week.

The two states with the next highest caseloads - California and Illinois - declared states of emergency earlier this week.

    So now what JOE?

"Pressure had been building on President Joe Biden to do more to stop the spread of monkeypox.

Public health officials say the disease is particularly prevalent amongst men who have sex with men.

In cities like here in San Francisco, with a large LGBT presence, politicians have claimed not enough is being done to protect the community.

Unlike when Covid-19 surfaced, there are pre-existing vaccines for monkeypox. But many who have tried to get the jab have reported waiting in long lines, only to be told there aren't enough to go around.

Some have questioned whether Mr. Biden should have called this nationwide state of emergency earlier - and whether this will be enough to prevent further spread."

Biden is as usual A day Late ----     And then there is this --- the U.S. Could Have Had Many More Doses of Monkeypox Vaccine This Year
The Department of Health and Human Services delayed asking the manufacturer to process the bulk vaccine the government already owned into vials.

I will be updating this thread as this virus spreads over the country. You see that's what we can expect, due to this unchecked virus. That's what science predicts.

Shortage of supply of the vaccine is not just an American issue; it's a worldwide issue, so you can't put all the blame on Biden.  In the UK we also have too little that has come too late; and to eek out what little supply we have the NHS is giving half dosses to make the vaccine go twice as far.

It appears the US is working with the company that produces the vaccine to manufacture the Vaccine here in the US. This should hopefully support the needs of the world for the vaccine.

"It can meet current demand of tens of millions of doses for the monkeypox vaccine, Chief Executive Paul Chaplin said in an interview with Reuters, but it is working with a U.S.-based contract manufacturer to expand its production capacity.

Chaplin said he hoped that process would be completed later this year, and added the company was also in early talks with others, including contract manufacturers and other vaccine makers, in case a further expansion is needed."

Although it is clear these discussions could have been done much earlier.

It appears contracts have been ironed out

I see it as a problem that when knowing about the problem many months ago, Governments did not quickly pick up the task of making sure vaccine was available quicker.

It was very clear early on there was by no means enough vaccine to cover the needs of the "world".

It appears the UK was as careless as the US. At any rate, it seems the US will be producing vaccines, and I am confident many other countries will quickly follow suit.

I will share my personal view. It appears Monkeypox is not a new disease and does not kill most that get it. However, those that hope to prevent the illness need to have and deserve to have the vaccine with good speed. It well appears that in the US the problem was back burnered.

Yep, that sounds about the same for the UK.

It is unfortunate, due to many homosexuals feel they have been overlooked in regard to their health needs. I became aware of protests due to seeing one in Detroit, the major city near me.

Yep, it’s the same across Europe and America; and yes the gay community in the UK also feels let down, like in the USA, but in Britain they haven't resorted to protests yet.

Currently the top 10 countries, which accounts for almost 90% of the world’s cases are the USA, Spain, Germany, UK, France, Brazil, the Netherlands, Canada, Portugal and Italy.  When population size is taken into account the USA isn’t doing any worse than other countries.

The Monkey Pox seems to be protect by certain goverments, the world over, until it become a health emergency, or pandemic.                                      Seriously, don't misunderstand me. Why did governments permit homosexuality, same sex mariages, and lesbicians, in the community?                                     Is this how to prevent, or cure a disease? Am I talkinp sense, or nonsense?                                      Imho, God, create a man, to mate with a female. If the Creator approve of same sex intercourse, why didn't he create just only two males in the first place? That's absurd?                                            The best vaccine production would not cost the government a cent, or penny. It's just stoping homosexuality. Have you seen the practice among the lower animals? I believe there's enough male and females to satisfy each other sex needs.

Male to male sex (sodomy), and female to female sex (lesbia) is not humany.                                             Has the world forgotten that this is one way AID/HIV was spread?                                 Is there not enough female for a man to satisfy his sexual urge...ditto for the fairer sex? OMG!
