Border Patrol agents nab a dozen people on terror watchlist at southern border in August
Border Patrol have now encountered 78 individuals on terror watchlist this fiscal year alone.

Border Patrol stopped a dozen individuals whose names are on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) in August, bringing the total for the fiscal year to a number that is triple the previous five fiscal years combined – as agents deal with a historic migrant surge at the border.

New data released by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) this week show that there were 12 individuals encountered by Border Patrol between ports of entry at the border whose names matched on the TSDB – which contains information about the identities of those who are known or "reasonably suspected" of being involved in terrorist activities.

August’s apprehensions bring the total for FY 22 to 78 so far, with two months still to go in the fiscal year. That is triple the prior five years combined. There were two arrests in FY17, six in FY18, zero in FY 19, three in FY20 and 15 in FY21.

While that is just a small percentage of the hundreds of thousands of migrants who hit the border each month, and it shows those who have been successfully caught by Border Patrol agents, it also does not include those who may have been among the over 500,000 gotaways – illegal immigrants who slipped past Border Patrol agents – this fiscal year.

Does it concern you that we are seeing such an increase in illegal migrants that are on the terror watch list trying to come into America?

In the very simplest of terms doesn't this just mean that the border patrol is doing a competent job of nabbing these people?

Other reasons for increased:. More enforcement at the border?
An unusually high rate of repeat crossings during the coronavirus pandemic has also inflated the border arrest tallies? Border Patrol apprehensions don't equate to individual migrants. For example, one migrant who illegally crossed the border three times in one month after being expelled to Mexico twice is counted as three apprehensions.(due to title 42)
Border Patrol now has a significantly superior apprehension rate than in the early 2000s due to improved surveillance technology, more enforcement resources and thousands of additional agents.

But again, President Biden has put forward an immigration reform plan. There seems to be no interest on the Republican side in actively taking part to address the issue aside from their stunts.  It's a little unfair to keep hearing  all of this on the president when half of our Congress is ignoring the issue.

Almost 800,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the border and escaped into the U.S. since Biden took office.

I have good hopes that Nov will bring a new majority to Congress, and that they will get to work immediately on the horrendous border crisis. I am very concerned about who we have let walk into the country.

With a slim majority expected for either side, bipartisan cooperation will still be important regardless. If Republicans take a slight majority, do you expect Democrats will work with them when they've done little more than political theater on immigration under President Biden thus far?

Guess this will be a wait-and-see. I don't think the  Democrats will work with them.  I hope we take the majority and certainly won't have gridlock to what we hope to accomplish and get rid of.
