The CBP Whipping Illegal Immigrants Issue

I tried to restrain myself, but this one popped my cork. I waited a bit, (a couple of hours, at least), to try to control my personal bias. But it didn't work. This one is going to be trouble.

    "So here's the deal."

I heard media blurbs about ahorseback CBP agents whipping the illegal immigrants trying to enter, (or illegally reenter), the U.S.

So I asked my friend Google to help. Here's what she offered; the top-cited image used by multiple medias, and the video cited as proof of the accusation, again by multiple medias.

I didn't see any "whipping." What I did see was agents doing their job as humanely as they could. It looked like they were only trying to stop male illegal immigrants who were, Hells bells, dodging and evading the agents like it was a game, as they continued to try to get around them. (they appeared to be letting the women and children through). Geesh.

But, here's where the pressure started building. The expected politicians started making the same stupid, (yep, I try to stay away from that word but it fits this time), started making the same grandly indignant statements condemning those agents—and the organization behind them. However, after seeing the alleged video, and not seeing any brutal and inhumane whipping or any whipping at all, I just chalked it up to politics as usual and was ready to let it go.

Then I heard the cork popper. It was one particular politician's statement. Our Vice-President's statement. It is possible I may have missed some surrounding context in her full statement, but I don't think so.

She threw the CBP under the bus, as they say. Her statement is easy to find on CNN.

I have not been able to locate any real I've footage on the incident. I feel if border officials are whipping people, there would be lots of footage, proof of this accusation. It would seem many are at this point willing to not need proof of the accusation, only media pushing a story of racism.

I do think the ploy worked well to take the attention away from the fact we have thousands of people that have entered our country illegally living under a US bridge in their own filth...    The Federal Government thus far won't provide the numbers of migrants that are being sent to a city near you that have not been tested for COVID, unless they show symptoms, and are not required to be vaccinated for COVID...   So the accusation of border patrol whipping black people is a very good   -- "hey look over here" ploy.  And we are expected to make sense out of  "no shoe's no shirt, no vaccine no service".  to curb the spread of a virus we have been battling for almost two years. Go figure...

If this were not such a serious situation, it would all be so laughable. And what's sad is the joke is on us.

The Biden administration is prohibiting Border Patrol agents from using horses in the Del Rio sector amid Democratic outrage over images that lawmakers falsely claimed showed agents using "whips" to stop Haitian migrants getting into the U.S.

This is unfair, and actually for the lack of a better word -- BS

      https://www.ktsm.com/local/el-paso-news … y-to-ktsm/
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The photographer behind images depicting Border Patrol agents on horseback told KTSM things are not exactly what they seem when it comes to the photos.

The photographs, which were taken Sunday, appear to show agents on horses with a whip in hand. The photos caused outrage because, from certain angles, it appears to show Border Patrol whipping migrants, but photographer Paul Ratje said he and his colleagues never saw agents whipping anyone.

“Some of the Haitian men started running, trying to go around the horses,” Ratje said.

Ratje is a photographer based in Las Cruces and has been in Del Rio since Friday. He said took the photographs from the Mexican side.

“I’ve never seen them whip anyone,” Ratje said. “He was swinging it, but it can be misconstrued when you’re looking at the picture.”

The photos drew immense criticism from many on social media and the White House said it will investigate."

This morning Biden when asked questions about the Border Crisis. His fire claimed he would take responsibility, and then went on to say --   "it's an embarrassment. Adding his description that people were strapped, and run over...  condemn the border patrol, and claimed, "there will be consequences, they will pay"...

Biden did not touch on the actual crisis the fact we have watched our borders open for 7 months, and this past weekend's crisis that had 14,000 migrants under a US bridge living in squalor or the huge historic number of unaccompanied children that our Government is responsible.  He blamed, he deflected. VP Harris took a note from Biden, and on the View, this morning stayed well away from the Border crisis, but concentrated on the false 'whipping incident".

      Biden's comments  source enter at 9:32   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv5C2ZoILuM

Again Biden's way of problem-solving, blame right upfront without evidence of wrongdoing, condemn, and then add then commit to punishment...  All half-ass-backward. His decision-making is once again flawed and shows a true lack of fairness or common sense.

As of today, I have yet to come up with a source that shows anyone being even touched with a whip or reins. I did come up with one where it appeared a migrant lost his footing when a horse nudge him with his nose.

The media ate his statement up, and continue to condemn our Border Patrol, and praise Biden for his effort to investigate the matter...  Nice deflect but no cigar.

My God, we are supposed to look the other way after witnessing this summer-long border crisis. I want answers to where all the many thousands of migrants that have come in all summer have been sent, not to mention the 14 thousand that were under that US bridge.

Great thread noted that the left is staying clear.  Fingers in ears, and humming...

My understanding is that is not a whip, but a long rein approved by the Biden administration for use to keep distance between those on a horse and those on the ground, to protect the agents on horseback. I would think our border czar would be aware of this.

But, hey, facts are never allowed to interfere with a narrative.

"Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas vowed a swift investigation into the treatment of Haitian migrants on the Texas border by agents on horseback, telling a House panel that the inquiry would be completed within days."

Where is the CBP whipping investigation now? It has been a week since the administration expressed its horror.

The issue is out of the news cycle now, is that all that is needed?

Perhaps someone quietly took the president aside and pointed out that his outrage was over men doing their job, not some torture chamber of the Inquisition.

And with the President quietly fading into the background the newsworthiness of the Border Patrol doing what they are supposed to also quietly faded away.

I think you are right. It was the VP's statement that got my goat. And I hope Fox News keeps it, (the issue), alive until one of them has to say something.

Alejandro Mayorkas reassigned the Border Patrol agents accused of whipping migrants have been assigned to desk duty. It will be interesting to hear the results of the investigation. Will Biden get his justice, I mean he accused these agents of  "strapping Hatains"  and called for swift punishment.  So, do we still need an investigation?  Laughable if it were not so disgusting.   Divide and conquer...

Hopefully, these agents get an apology from the President and VP and return to the work they were trained to do.

Yep, I have seen those details. There doesn't seem to be any new, (less than 3 days old), information available.

No news on the investigation --- However, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Chris Wallace's show that he would hire the U.S. Border Patrol agents if they have a fear of being fired.

If they were smart they would take him up on his offer.

Just a nine-day bump to see if the VP has any news on the investigation.

11 days and still no word from the pres or his VP. After such indignation, one would think they might want answers.

Maybe if you-know-who said something about it the media might cover it just so they could say the name in the same sentence with whips and brown people.

Don't even joke about it.  This country is once more descending into overt, unmistakable racism; please don't feed it.

      Uh, a right-winger talking point? That's sad.

Btw, "he" did. And you missed it? Did "the media" let you down? sad

      Ok. Bye. Too much echo.

I am not sure about the "right-wing talking point" part. I am riding this issue because the pres and VP made such premature damning statements.

These two positions should be held to a higher standard than other politicians' usual political demagoguery.  The "what's-his-name" crack was just that—a joking wisecrack. And yes, I guess I did miss it.

Thanks. I don't know how much credit to give to the  "officials said" stuff in the link. So I will keep waiting to hear from our outraged and justice-seeking Pres and VP. Like them, I also want to see justice done.

Two weeks and still no update. Are those CBP agents of the issue still on desk duty? Are horse patrols still banned?

The Pres and VP were quick to publically respond when they thought it was a hot issue for them, but now . . .
