      (1) Women's reproductive freedom to have contraception, & an abortion.  To have ONLY WANTED children, not UNWANTED ones.
      (2) A pure meritocracy- each person succeeds according to his/her capabilities.
      (3) Couples having children ONLY when they are established financially, emotionally, & psychologically.  No child should be brought into a poor home where there is very little to no opportunities for children to thrive culturally nor socioeconomically.
      (4) Small families of 1-2 children, maybe medium families of 3-4 children maximum.  Studies have endlessly authenticate that parents of small & medium families can give their children the love & attention such children need.  In larger families, parents aren't able to give children the needed attention thus there were be some children who will be neglected.  In larger families, children usually rise themselves to their detriment.
      (5) Freedom to explore & grow.  Also to go beyond conventions.
      (6) Government existing only as law enforcement, not a nanny state as it now.

I think that if your number 3 was followed by more people then your number 6 would not even be much of an issue.

That's probably true.  I don't know that I've ever met anyone that was financially, emotionally, & psychologically ready to have children.  Not even just one of those three, although a few have come close.

Which means that the species will die out in just 1 or 2 generations, guaranteeing (6) will happen.

Spoken like someone who had to work hard to earn everything they have.

The majority of Americans today do not believe in such concepts as you have alluded to, they want to be taken care of, they want security, safety, and too many think having it all is a right simply for being an American.

Free stuff wins out over freedom.

"too many think having it all is a right simply for being an American."

I would disagree with this.  They don't think they are entitled because of being American, but because they exist.  That's why Americans are responsible for ensuring the rest of the world has that endless list of "human rights" that grows every year.

        2. gmwilliams profile image82
gmwilliamsposted 22 months agoin reply to this

There is NO such thing as "free stuff".  Free stuff means that one is OWNED while if one works for what one gets, h/she OWNS.  I believe in ownership.  When one is given to, one becomes lazy & entitled.   Years ago in America, when there were less social programs, poor people who wanted to improve themselves, pull themselves up by their bootstraps.  Those who refused to help themselves, stay mired in poverty.

Welfare, as we know it, made poor people entitled.  Welfare which was instituted as temporary has become a generational lifestyle.   Many people on welfare can work but they ELECT not to do so.   An example of entitlement is one branch of my maternal bloodline.   My grandmother was one of 13 siblings.  She was the only person who elected to be mired in poverty.  She was given an opportunity either to attend college or get married.  Guess what she elected to do?   Get married.

She proceeded to have 10 children although she could ill afford it.  More affluent maternal relatives helped her.   This gave her, her husband, & most of her children an entitlement that others are to help them.  This mindset passed onto the current generation who believe that other relatives should carry them.  This is the ONLY branch who are parasitic, the other siblings of my grandmother pulled themselves out of poverty.

Saying:  never give money to a poor person.  Make poor people earn their bread.  If they work hard, they can live.  Also poor people have to make more intelligent life choices which I detailed above.    Many Americans are poor because THEY WANT TO BE like the branch of my maternal relatives which I discussed here.

There are people who believe that government should help them out instead of helping themselves.   These people are children psychologically.  A true adult doesn't believe in depending upon anyone but create the life h/she wants to have for himself/herself & family if married.

You thoroughly misunderstand where the "elites" are leading America.

You also misunderstand that the majority of Americans today want that type of leadership/protection/safety/free-stuff.

Elon Musk recently went on stage at a Dave Chappelle show... Chapelle is not exactly a comedic frontman for the Progressive agenda by any means.

This crowd booed Musk for 15 minutes straight, Musk, the guy who is fighting to expose the criminal activities of our "elites" in government and in Social Media.

This is what happens when you fight to expose the truth, or stand up for working hard and earning what you own.

Klaus Schwab said it best "you will own nothing and be happy about it"

What he doesn't say, is that those who are not happy about it, will be marginalized, made into not-peoples (they will have no access to Social Media, Banks, etc.), they will be cut out of society, unable to travel, have lodging, or even buy food.

Musk is just getting in the way of this future, so he has been made a social and media pariah, an enemy of the state, despite being a billionaire and changing the course of humanity with Tesla, Space X, Starlink, and many other companies of cutting edge technology.

Musk is fighting the "establishment" and he will lose.  Just like Trump lost.  Just like all who try will lose.  Because there are too many people today willing to fight and defend those that are shackling them into slavery.

Facetiously, maybe, my core beliefs are betwixt and between a large mass of grey matter whispering whatnot between my ears like "Knowledge" by Jacob Lee and a pulsing blob beating a cadence to "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas at times and other times "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor while my 'soul' speaks to me subtly like "Secrets / Far Above the Clouds" by Mike Oldfield.

      Far Above the Clouds
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqtW8Qkk2lk

      Over the years I have as much as I could held to what Gayle Sayers played by Billie Dee Williams said in the movie about Brian Picolo;

      "The Lord is first,
      My friends are second,
      And, I am third"

Note: For me family are categorically my first friends if there is an order.

How successful I have been is debatable of course. And, with a little pondering that has the propensity to guide one through topics of interest such as personal philosophy, spirituality, social exchanges and interactions, work ethics, public service, and having fun, fun, fun as best as can be.

Yep, I concur, "having fun, fun, fun as best as can be." - I retired at 55 specifically so that I could have a relaxed, stress free, and enjoyable retirement.  To me the real fun is the summer months, when I can be out in my back garden focusing on growing our own organic fruit and veg, and in my workshop doing DIY. - and of course our family summer holidays (vacations) and day trips.

Of course this time of year, the fun is the preparation for Christmas e.g. we took a day trip to the Exeter Christmas Market last Thursday (200 mile round trip), arriving early in the day so that we could treat ourselves to an 'all you can eat' full English Breakfast, with a bottomless mug of tea/coffee in a local restaurant in Exeter for just $6 each.  Last Saturday we went out to the local forestry commission to buy our Christmas Tree, which has now been decorated; and just before Christmas day I'll spend a day making chocolate truffles; and finally on Christmas day itself, we'll spend the morning opening all the Christmas presents   smile

I believe the beautiful leaves in this picture will if left alone and given the freedoms nature meant these trees to have will turn this beautiful color for many years unless someone decides to take its freedom to thrive, just because they can.  Freedom is one of my core beliefs.

I believe as long as people worship in churches like the one in this very picture, or look at a sunset and say, thank you, God,  religion will remain a true form of freedom. Can one know if you are saying a silent prayer?   It's a freedom that can't be taken away.   So my religion is a core belief.
is another of my core beliefs. I believe in learning,  not becoming stagnant in one's thoughts.

I want the freedom to thrive like a tree, and enjoy what nature intended me to enjoy.

I want the freedom to worship as I see fit, and have no one impede on my right to worship.

I want to continue to learn as my life goes on.

"I want the freedom to worship as I see fit, and have no one impede on my right to worship."

Your freedom to worship as you see fit is already compromised, depending on what you want.

One may not engage in human sacrifice.  Or animal sacrifice unless "humane".  One may not dance naked in the street.  Even the churches using snake handling have come under attack as an unsafe environment for people.  Church bells have come under attack by neighbors.  Parking has been a problem for parishioners, as has the serving of food.  Even clean water and toilet facilities.

There are actually a great many things you may not do.  They are normally not a problem, but because they are seldom a part of a belief system.  Should that change it may well become a violent talking point.

The key, of course and as always, is to pick your battles wisely.  Choose battles that are very important, not a mere sideline.  Choose battles that impact others as little as possible - when your demand is to negatively affect others it will not be appreciated.

I shared a few of my core beliefs.  Note the words "I want the freedom to worship".  I did not say this form of freedom in today's world is realistic and uncompromised.  Because one only needs to see religious freedoms have been attacked all over the world.

However, I still hold freedom of religion as a core belief.   Caring very little about what stumbling blocks society tosses in the way of religious freedom, my belief does not change in regard to the freedom to practice one's religion unfettered by society or the Government. No one can control my thoughts or my true beliefs.

"Your freedom to worship as you see fit is already compromised, depending on what you want."

So yes, you are correct, but society does not impede what I think about my religious beliefs about freedom of religion.

I guess what I hope to share with you is --- Core beliefs can be unrealistic in today's world, but need not impede one's personal thoughts, feelings, or beliefs....

          1. wilderness profile image94
wildernessposted 22 months agoin reply to this

Agree with you 100% - beliefs may be unrealistic but need not impede one's personal thoughts feelings or beliefs.

We can only hope that those personal thoughts and beliefs do not include forcing others into a lifestyle or belief system we approve of.  That is, after all, the root of our society.

But I must apologize; I got this thread mixed up with another as I replied.  It was true enough, but not particularly in line with the topic.

Never a need to apologize, you share your thoughts, and this is always good, in my book. I have gotten to feel I know users hereby their views.

One must consider, beliefs are formed from the time one is a child. Yes, they change throughout time. Some just stick due to being seen as being positive, and throughout time have served a person well in their lives.

Such as religion, I find my religion gives me a space to find answers, peace of mind, and a sense of belonging to something much bigger than myself.

The freedom to live my life as I so choose, without being referred to as bigot, because I dare to hold the word of God in reverence.
To be left alone and not treated as if I am the enemy because I don't buy into every crazy idea/fad/gimmick/justification, etc. which comes down the pike!
For LIBERTY which was fought for so bravely and so gallantly to no longer be wasted on those who do not understand it and don't care to. How can they ever embrace it?
For this screwed-up-by-progressives Country to get it back together, back to its roots and realize that what we once had here, doesn't get any better, here on earth. I want my grandchildren to have their shot at their American dream some day.

Government was NEVER meant to be on steroids. I can't imagine getting back to Government which is limited, in my lifetime, but we need to work to rein them in (as people did when Biden spoke of paying off student debt)
Most people were outraged by this! We have our own house/neck, to keep above water, we can't keep up an entitled generation as well.....
If we feel moved to do so, then that is up to each individual, not for the federal gov to mandate it!!
At the same time, the people need to understand why the gov is [meant to be] limited and the lengths they'll got to, the money they'll spend, for the votes to get them across the finish line!! It has come to that. It is all about the votes, for too many in power, who seek nothing more...than to control the people. The people need to wake up to this!!! Gov isn't our friend nor our Nanny!
Not sure what it will be like for my grandchildren someday when tyranny rules, when they are taxed into poverty, no matter their life path or their career path, IF we don't start holding our Government and their massive spending {as they dictate what's best for us} accountable!!!
