Is this Constitutionally right for the American people?
Are we setting Ukraine up for failure?
    ...What is the hidden agenda?

    America needs to know!

I don't think it has anything to do with the Constitution.  By training them to use the weaponry we are supplying is setting them up for success not failure.

America does know. The agenda is not hidden, it is simply in the shadow of presented public information.

The agenda I see, and - since we did involve ourselves before the war started - support is that Ukraine is America's proxy against Russia's aggression, and America is the proxy for all Western nations.

We are in it now, regardless of being right or wrong, so that agenda shouldn't be in the shadows, it should be owned by the Oval Office. because we have passed the point of stopping our military and economic support of Ukraine. Denying reality never turns out well.

Why don't these allied countries just jump into the war and fight with Ukraine? I understand we are helping them, but this will end in another world war eventually I believe.

If this was to occur, Russia would then be justified in using nuclear weapons.   Russia has attacked no other country and therefor no other nation has a reason to join in the war with Ukraine.

That makes sense. So is it just a matter of time before the war spreads to other countries? Or will Russia win and that be the end?

If you've been following events, Russia is losing the war in Ukraine; Russia has outdated and unreliable equipment and weapons, and an untrained army - while the Ukraine's are being supplied with superior weapons from the West, and superior training of its troops.

Russia is not taking bombing to their country. However, Ukraine is along with a death toll of civilians. Not sure one can call this a win?

Considering that Putin originally expected to take Ukraine in just a few days, and considering that large chunks of lands in the north and south, captured by Russia has now been re-taken by Ukraine; Russia is not wining.

If you're fighting for your life, and you hold an aggressor like Hitler or Putin at bay, with prospects of pushing them back then that is a win.

England went through the same experience in world war two; Hitler bombing our cities night after night after night, killing thousands of British civilians; yet in spite of all the bombing, we stayed resolved, and we won the war.  Over the course of the war Hitler's bombs destroyed 2 million British homes - this is Bristol (where I live) after it was destroyed by bombing raids: https://youtu.be/vIVaXQu5LUI

The WWII analogy also came to mind for me, but was sure introducing it would sound hyperbolic. Making it to the point of bombing saved it.

Take your 'bombing' example a step further with comparisons to our current support for Ukraine and our Lend-Lease program with the UK.

I think the current 'proxy' situation is the only thing that can stop this Russian aggression from becoming an official world war. If this effort to support Ukraine fails, a real world war seems very likely in the near future.

And I think it will fail unless Ukraine has a backup. Russia has a large army of troops who are already trained. Plus they are not stopping. Is this all for control of Ukraine? Why not just let them be in peace?

Much of Russia's army of troops are not trained, the are predominantly conscripts with little or no training, and little will to fight.

Besides, if you are familiar with Russian history, you would know that don't want to stop at Ukraine; at the very least they desire reclaiming their old 'empire' which is half of Europe; and ultimately world domination.

So to stop them in their tracks now would make the world a safer place.

Right. Agreed. So it will not stop until they overtake Ukraine. Is this connected to increasing gas prices here in America?

Nathanvilleposted 23 months agoin reply to this

It will not stop unless/until Ukraine wins the war; which looks increasingly likely with the help that Ukraine is getting from the West.

And yes, the increasing gas prices in Europe and in America is because of the war in Ukraine.

I look at the war in the United States press and also in the Ukrainian press. I have relatives who are still there as well as many friends.

I have no idea how a nation the size of Russia can sustain the loss of over 100,000 soldiers and continue without feeling anger from their population.  This 100,000 has occurred in less than a year of fighting.

To put things in perspective, The United States fought a war in Iraq and Afghanistan for nearly 20 years.  The total soldiers killed during that time for the United States was approximately 6,500...in 20 years.

Russia's population is around 143 million and the United States is 300 million

I guess this explains why Russia is paying many mercenary groups to fight for them.

There was a recent battle and the Ukrainians were fighting against the mercenary group called "The Wagners."  The mercenary group was starting to take over an important town.  The Ukrainians were retreating back to their defensive line.

The Russian commanders couldn't let the mercenary group get the glory for taking this town.  They told the mercenary group to pull back and had Russian army paratroopers come to the front to take over the town. A really stupid move.  The paratroopers had never been to this area and had to try and figure out a battle plan, etc.

To make a long story short, this gave the Ukrainian army time to regroup and get more troops and equipment to the area. What could have been a major defeat for the Ukrainians turned out to be a defeat for the Russians.
Their regular army paratroopers were pushed completely away from the city and back to a defensive line several kilometers away.

Things Russia is doing in this war make absolutely no sense at all.
This is just one story among many.

Thank you for [posting this thread. It is a subject that may have fallen through the cracks. Although it is being covered slightly by the media, not enough.

Americans should be kept abreast of this form of news.  Unfortunately, there is so much news, some do fall through the cracks, and many never are aware of what our Government is up to.

The Ukraine war is one subject Americans should truely keep up on. This proxy war could lead to something bigger.

How many Ukrainian solders are being trained in the USA?

It’s not just the USA; since the summer, the UK has been training 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers in the UK every 120 days.

Secret training of Ukrainian troops on big guns in UK:  https://youtu.be/sOJ5jbXQIa8

And also, the UK will now be sending 14 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine (the video states 10, but since broadcast the UK Government has clarified that it will be 14 tanks):  https://youtu.be/e4i1zYOn0vY

Sending British tanks to Ukraine weakens UK forces, says UK Army's top general:  https://youtu.be/hj8PJOQQgRE

      You are absolutely right.

The UK is training many Ukrainian soldiers. I would have to say many of the battlefield successes the Ukrainians have experienced have links to the training on equipment, tactics, etc. received from the UK. There has also been quite a bit of training done by the United States.  Both countries, as well as other countries around the world, have provided important military equipment.

This is good to hear. The UK is a nation that is well known for doing more than its part.

Foreign soldiers have trained in the U.S. since time immemorial. Ask anyone who has ever served in our military.
