I TAKE Issue With This

    As we all know Governor George DeSantis revoked teaching of an advanced placement Black History course because it contained what he deemed controversial subtopics.  Governor DeSantis also indicated that the course has "no educational value".   Do you contend that what Governor DeSantis has done is a very dangerous precedent?  Why?  Why not?

      For deSantimonious, Anything that deals with the actual history of race relations in America is a controversial subject.

      I get irritated with people who have to censor materials and ideas from the perusal of others because they may take issue with it.

      Only tyrants censor books over controversial ideas, and oftentimes the truth is controversial.

        You mean like those that find it helpful to destroy our historical statuary?  Because, you know, people may take issue with it?

          And, yes, those as well. These edifices need to be debated as to their removal as not appropriate in a public square paid for with tax payer dollars, but not vandalized. But no one should be able to tell ME what to read or not to read.

            Then we are on the same page.  Hell has indeed frozen over.

            (Although I would suggest that books are also debated before being remove so that you cannot read them.)

              I guess that I don't equate vandalism with the attempt the restrict the free flow of ideas from books, with the rare exception, being the youngest of children from a parental standpoint.
