Hot Damn, this will have the Left losing their minds.

DeSantis to use Twitter Spaces to announce he's running for president.

Not at all, the more, the merrier. We have Scott and Haley in South Carolina, we have Hutchinson in Arkansas. There is rumble now about the Mayor of Miami throwing his hat in the ring.

Keeping the GOP divided as to its choices beyond Trump certainly can't hurt.

I have seen pundits speculating that the Conservative Republicans are hoping that one of the entrants will survive the weeding process to emerge as a more acceptable 'second-choice' than DeSantis.

The problem is, this other entrant would have to speak to similar issues of concern that Trump has in the past.

Right now, the closest to that (other than DeSantis who I don't want to see run, ALL the Trump supporters will stay with Trump over DeSantis, and DeSantis has been demonized by the media as much as Trump the past two years, making unappealing to many in the center) is Tim Scott.

I don't know how much, if any, support he can muster, on the national stage.

As Spock says, "There are always possibilities." I'm expecting Trump or DeSantas (probably both) to go off the rails and overboard sometime during the campaign and end with a moment like that Democrat presidential hopeful that screamed himself right out of the race with one night's antics.

Hasn't Trump has about a hundred of those 'moments' already?

Doesn't seem to phase him as it would other politicians.

I don't which was more important - DeSantis announcement or Twitter Space or Musk somewhat making the move more to the right? It would be interesting to see/listen to the interview/announcement. I do wonder how many will listen especially since everyone knows about it now since it is everywhere on the web.

If I can figure out what 'Twitter Spaces' is I will be checking it out to see the live responses. The announcement will just be normal politics we can catch anywhere (all the other media), but if the comments thread follows typical participation patterns found on other social media exchanges it will be a hoot.

From my best guess one first has to have a twitter membership. I got that. I would think they would do mass announcement, yet that is dependent on the feed since it rolls constantly. In other words, if you don't see it when done you won't. That is my experience. So, I guess one would go to Musk's account or DeSantis to join the fray.

I bet there will be more than many wanting to participate with a question or what not. I guess the host will be able to read the query first, so it will be selective instead of spontaneous.

Along these lines; " His first national TV interview following the announcement will be with Fox News' Trey Gowdy Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on "Fox News Tonight."

I think this says it all "It will be the first time that something like this is happening on social media and with real-time questions and answers, not scripted."   Elon Musk

This really is refreshing, IMO. Reminds me of an America I once knew, and loved.

Let's bring out the crystal balls . . . Will Trump make any response on his now-unbanned Twitter account?

I'm betting he will, he won't be able to resist the challenge.

LOL ---  I wish I could bet on it, he won't be able to resist. This will drive Trump into full-out attack mode.

“Announcing on Twitter is perfect for Ron DeSantis,” a Trump adviser told POLITICO. “This way he doesn’t have to interact with people and the media can’t ask him any questions.”

Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc., the PAC backing Trump, said in a statement Wednesday: “This is one of the most out-of-touch campaign launches in modern history. The only thing less relatable than a niche campaign launch on Twitter, is DeSantis’ after party at the uber elite Four Seasons resort in Miami.”

Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign launch melts down in Twitter glitches

The app crashed repeatedly as Twitter users tried to listen to the event where Twitter owner Elon Musk joined DeSantis for the announcement.

DeSantis eventually was able to speak, about 20 minutes after the scheduled start, after Musk closed the initial Twitter Spaces event and started a second one on the app.

“Wow! The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, using a shortened version of his “DeSanctimonious” nickname.
“Is the DeSantis launch FATAL?” he later added. “Yes!”

It looks like a disaster on all sides, except the audience. So many folks joined that the system (app?) crashed repeatedly, so technically it was a disaster for DeSantis — as Trump was quick to note.

Then, I think his opening statement was terrible. The content was terrible and so was the delivery—at least that's how the part I heard was. It crashed again and I didn't wait to hear more.

DeSantis will have to parade the size of the audience (biggest crowd ever? ;-) ) for something to be happy about because I didn't hear anything else he can claim as a success.

Fox has been hyping up a possible De Santis run, but after yesterday, they have been mocking DeSantis non stop. Maybe ratings are telling them to go back to Trump. Yikes.

Teeny, tiny audience: Elon Musk's much-hyped Twitter ‘Spaces’ disaster draws fraction of mogul’s followers

Musk has a staggering 140.8 million Twitter followers but fewer than 300,000 managed to tune in for the DeSantis chat. The Twitter Space had 900,000 concurrent viewers at one point, according to screenshots of the space, but more than two-thirds bailed or were unable to listen because of the tech issues by the time DeSantis was able to begin.

    Huh?

Trump's bizarre reaction to DeSantis' announcement sparks confusion online

"'Rob,' My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!)," Trump said in the post.

'If people want idiocracy and entertainment, Trump might be the better option,' one commentator said

I caught that on Truth. I have been hanging around there as of late. Trump certainly did not disappoint those that were waiting for his response. He went on quite a spreeeeeee. I must admit this one made me laugh out loud.

Apart from the MAGA pandering, the thinly veiled attack was funny.

DeSantis says he’ll consider pardoning Jan. 6 defendants, including Trump
