Just tossing in a distraction. Typically I may wander from here to there and back inspired by curiosity and inquisitiveness. Yesterday spawned by a thought in another forum I asked myself, "How does the alignment of the cosmos attribute to political party/ideology choice?" In other words, does astrology affect political choice?
Seems it may be so. I am born on the cusp of Virgo and Libra, so one can say with jest I have a split-personality according to the stars or better said I have choice. Virgo is suppose to align with being conservative. Libra is neutral or independent, which is as I am registered today. And, I am more conservative than liberal. So, speculatively with me as an example perhaps the stars of the cosmos are a predictor.
Take a peek to see what your sign says.
The Zodiac Signs Ranked From Most Liberal To Most Conservative

Edit: I just now discovered another interesting article on this topic. It is from a Canadian astrologer.
How to get involved in politics based on your zodiac sign (even if you think politics is zzzz)
https://torontoobserver.ca/2022/06/01/z … -politics/
Being scientifically minded, and an atheist, quite naturally astrology is something I emphatically don’t believe in. That being said; FYI I’m on the cusp of Leo and Cancer.
Uff 0-2.
Taurus here and nada que ver. Not even a little.
I am not as much into astrology, but to keep the conversation going, I am Sagittarius.
Aquarius here and yes I'd have no problem with Bernie Sanders in the white House
Aquarians are the true revolutionaries in the zodiac. They are visionaries. They are ahead of the curve so to speak. What they espouse in the present, the masses espouse in 40-50 years.
I am a Virgo but I am far from conservative. I answer to no one party. I believe in using logic & intelligence regarding political views. I won't toe the party line whether Democrat or Republic. I am my own person.
I do admire that position. If more of us exhibited those ideals the politicians would have to work a lot harder and I think actually be more genuine to win votes.
Quite frankly, Colton, neither do I. As a man always standing against arrogant and entrenched power, we could do far worse.
Sagittarius is a questioning sign. They are for knowledge. They don't believe in the status quo. They are the true philosophers of life. They are adventurous & also love travel. They are liberals.
Oh my, now I know why in many respects we hit it off, even though our views are so different. My mom was Sagittarius. She was hard to debate when our views collided, she had a way of getting her point across, without making me want to really give her what for... We could always agree to disagree, and walk away without frustration.
Oh My, I am Virgo --- the description was pretty right on for me.
I am a Scorpio, a highly misunderstood sign, from what I gather.
One word describes them all, whether Liberal or Conservative: We are passionate, with a capital P.
I like that. Thanks for the distraction, tsmog.
Passionate with a capital P and a very smart lady that holds her own in each and every discussion!
I don't know if all of that falls under the Scorpio umbrella...oops Zodiac sign, but it is how I would describe you, if asked.
Savvy, let me share --- my grandson is Scorpio, and his personality is so special. He has the best sense of humor and keeps me laughing, he is so intuitive, he knows what will come out of my mouth before I say it. He is the kindest little soul, and very diplomatic, about handling any situation he finds himself in. We get in lots of trouble together, and best of all he can keep a secret. LOL
Thank you for sharing a bit about your grandson. I truly believe Scorpio children are very sensitive, almost wise, and as such must be handled with tender loving care. How lucky your beautiful grandson is to have you as a grandmother.
I love that he keeps special secrets under wraps. That makes me smile.
I knew you were a Scorpio. You are correct in the premise that Scorpio is a misunderstood sign. Scorpio is a complex sign. Scorpio is also an unfathomable sign. Scorpio is a sign of layers. It is hard to decipher a Scorpio. Scorpio is a mysterious.
Scorpios aren't about to reveal everything. They believe that some things should be kept to themselves. Scorpio is also a sign of extremes. It is all or nothing to the Scorpio. Scorpio can be hot or cold, Scorpio is never ever in the middle.
You're welcome. Being as said I am on the cusp of Virgo and Libra. Supposedly for Virgo Scorpio is high for compatibility. Interestingly enough, my first three girlfriends I dated were Scorpio. Does that mean the stars were at play in the cosmos?
Thanks for posting this lighthearted thread ! It was enlightening, and I think as a woman that has a great curiosity to get to know who is on the other side of a keyboard and loves to study human nature --- knowing a given zodiac sign really adds some insight into the personality of our HP compadres.
I think it's pretty remarkable that many here, seem to fit some or all of the descriptions of their Zodiac sign.
You're welcome Sharflee!! I am glad the OP was received well while proved to be non-partisan too ;-) I think early in life, say the teens to early twenties astrology caught the fancy of most. I know it did for me. I can remember when an auto tech eating a Breakfast Jack and drinking coffee the first page of the newspaper I went to was the Astrology page before going to the sports section.
It was a swing and a miss for Taurus. It says I should be a conservative. I believe my locational upbringing in a liberal bastion took precedence over my astrological definement.
Many, many moons ago convinced by my girlfriend at the time we went to an astrologist for our personal assessments. She dug as deep as the time of birth and specifically which hospital for longitude and latitude. It was pretty comprehensive. I wonder if I have it hidden in one of my memory boxes and if it mentions anything about politics.
Sharing, as far as where I lived affecting my political position I was a military brat moving approx. every four years usually from one coast to another. However, half the time on board base. In essence a strong conservative influence. I would have to think about when not on base and the political persuasion of the locals.
"Taurus, you can be unrelenting with your choices. Your choice will always be your choice unless you decide otherwise."
Really, no really... I think that statement is pretty right. Were your parent's liberals?
Pisces here, just had a birthday!
Spiritual, definitely!
Civics-minded, definitely.
"Beliefs can prevent you from being open to the most liberal views."
Amen and hear, hear to that!
Happy belated Birthday, AB. Civics-minded and spiritual. That encapsulates what you share with the world. Thank you for that.
Thank you Savvy, I am dragging it out, attempting to make a birth month out of it.
Awww thank you, that means so much to me. When I read up a little more on Pisces, because...haven't really paid much attention to signs and such, there was also a part about "gut reactions". OMG how often do I talk about always listening to your gut...going with your gut. Blew my mind!
I find Pisces to be strong and kind, and in the case of my own son, he is guided by his faith. He is very soft-hearted and takes on others' heartaches very easily. When he is happy his eyes sparkle.
"Guided by his faith", I love that! Your son sounds like a very special person Shar! I know you are a proud Momma.
A Happy, Happy B-Day to you, though late coming. I hope your special day was full of blessings and great joy along with fun, fun, fun with the family.
I don't set much store in what sign I am, but out of curiosity I read the link. I'm a Taurus and should be next to the most conservative. I suppose I'm not for a couple of reasons.
1. I'm well educated and well read.
2. I've traveled extensively and lived in foreign countries for seven years of my life.
3. I'm a person of faith not religion.
4. My career was as a journalist so I've studied both (all) sides of many issues.
5. I'm older. With age may not come wisdom, but it comes with a lot of experience.
Interesting discussion. Thanks
Taurus doesn't mean one is a conservative per se. Taurus means resolution. A Taurus is strong minded & not easily swayed by others. Taureans are strong people. Taurus aren't afraid to go against the grain if h/she believes h/she is right. There are Taureans who are traditional & there are others who are more modernistic in scope.
I, too, love this discussion. I have studied astrology extensively for many decades. Astrology is more than the sun sign in the birth chart. There are many ruling planets in one's birth chart. For example, I have 2 planets in earth signs, 1 planet in a fire sign, 2 planets in air signs, & 5 planets in water signs. In addition to that, I have a water sign ascendant.
I kinda' figured astrology may be shall we say an important hobby for you. As said to Valaent, I once had an assessment done way back in the '70's convinced by my girlfriend that we both do it. It is very comprehensive taking in time of birth and where the hospital is with latitude and longitude. I think it is buried in one of my memory boxes and I should hunt for it.
gmwilliams: I realize no one fits 100% into any category. I just found it interesting in this article my sign was so far on the conservative spectrum, when I am sooooooooooo not. But I'm not typical in many ways: a southerner, raised and practiced Southern Baptist until recently, a military wife for more than 50 years. Sounds just like a conservative, right?
Well not necessarily, my late mother is a Virgo. She is the quintessential Virgo. She was neat to an obsession. She was also highly critical. She was subservient to a fault. She was also puritanical. She was stickler for rules & regulations. She was a 100% Virgo which grated on my nerves. She was also pedantic. She was Felix Unger incarnate.
Yes, your case is interesting. Many people aren't typical of their sun signs. I am a Virgo. I like to try new things. I like to explore. I hate rules & regulations. I question everything which Virgos typically don't do.
To me, your life was interesting and a blessing in its own sense. I can agree with being a person of faith, not religion. I wish I had traveled more. Being in San Diego I have gone south into Baja Mexico for lobster or for work eating at a street cafe. M'm . . . M'm

Do left-handers tend to be liberal in politics? (i.e. Are Left-handers, left?) .I'd estimate that 7/8 ths of the left-hander I know are liberal Democrats. Seven of the last 13 left-handed Presidents, starting with FDR were Democrats. (BTW - Considering that only 10-13% of the population is...

Or does it just seem that way because the Democrats/liberals are less vocal about it? Lately it seems to me there are many many more conservatives and their agendas being pushed at us. I usually keep away from politics entirely, but if it is true that most of the forum posters are...
