Why Haley Should Absolutely Remain in the Race

Nikki Haley should absolutely remain in the race at this time for a few reasons.

First, there's still the case to be made at the Supreme Court level on whether Trump will even be allowed on the ballot.  Until that is sorted, the MAGA Party should absolutely have a backup plan, albeit that plan might end up being a reemergence of another full on MAGA candidate like Ron DeSantis.  It would be interesting to see who Trump would endorse to carry on his legacy should he be barred from running...thought on this one?

Second, Trump's trials will begin to kick off in March, with the New York case.  The D.C. trial looks like it might get pushed until May, depending on when the appellate court rules on that ridiculous immunity claim and the denial to hear the case that the Supreme Court will certainly issue.  If there is a conviction by mid-summer, might what's left of the Republican Party look to replace Trump at that point, seeing as how one third of the party continuously states they will not vote for a convicted felon.  Haley could certainly slide into the nomination at that point.

Lastly, Trump's mental state is now an issue, as is Biden's.  At this point, she's the most cognitively there among our choices and some would cross over from the Democratic Party because of this.  The problem now being that Trump is tarnishing her so badly in her own party that he's creating a never-Nikki environment among his supporters.  The inability to tolerate anyone who is not totally subservient to his needs is currently on full display as he uses his typical elementary school insults and is now threatening Haley's donors if they don't get in line: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsAFxXV8pxg).  Considering this kind of behavior is only going to cement his authoritarian stances, he's going to alienate even more voters than he already has.

Thoughts?  Should Haley remain in the race through the summer?

Yes, she should remain if for no other reason to put a burr in Trumps saddle.

Trump, as petty and small minded as he is, would never suggest any replacement who had "crossed him" in the past. He needs to flag one of those HR strumpets in Congress that drool after him or work with Uncle Tim Scott or Ramaswamy.

The 4th reason is a selfish one, Haley provides discord for the Republicans and even if Trump is coronated, the very challenge will remain a thorn in MAGA's side. The chaos and confusion can only serve to help Democrats and their candidates. The conflict will give moderates and independents something to think about for the upcoming general election.

I hope she remains in the race as long as possible. It appears her donors are also on board at least in the short term.

She has gotten under Trump's skin and I can only hope she sharpens her attack. She really is a model of decency and good character, a responsible leader with adult judgment. This, along with the fact she's a woman of color  brings out the worst in Trump.  And I am absolutely here for it.

Trump’s New Hampshire victory speech was a thug’s manifesto. A demand for submission.   Saying  things like, “I don’t get too angry — I get even.”

      What does that mean?

That’s not how U.S. presidential candidates speak. That’s how mob bosses speak.

Not only should Haley stay in the race, she should push every button that makes Trump crazy.

No need to be mean. No need to be him. Be subtle and then stand back and let Trump set himself on fire.

Trump has been background noise for the past few years and I believe people have some what forgotten how truly awful he is.   The more he speaks, the more he does himself in.

But also, Haley's strong finish in the New Hampshire primary justifies her decision to stay in the race. Her
strength with independent voters revealed a fatal weakness for Trump if he is the nominee. Trump has MAGA  behind him, but his appeal across the electorate remains as limited as when he lost in 2020.

I do not support many of her positions but I commend her ability and integrity to be the last standing of what was honestly a pathetic lot.  The others have quickly tucked their tails and submitted to Trump.

Val, your points are well taken. I appreciate seeing courageous candidates stepping up to challenge a strong contender. It's refreshing to hear diverse policies and have choices in the political landscape.

However, our political system often demonstrates that party loyalty takes precedence over the desires of "we the People." If there are concerns about Trump's candidacy, I believe she can re-enter the race.

We've witnessed the impact of big donors on party dynamics, and it's evident with Nikki's donors withdrawing support. Unfortunately, it seems we might experience business as usual in this regard with Nikki. I'm disheartened by this as I believe she could be a strong presidential candidate for America, given her fighting spirit.

I guess we will continue to get what we have put up with in the past.

"MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” discussed the state of the Republican primary on Friday and Donald Trump’s refusal to debate Nikki Haley, which cohost Joe Scarborough sees as “extreme weakness.”

      Sooo.......

This epitome of masculine strength and power, Donald Trump, is intimidated by a mere woman?

After all, he is a "stable genius", what chance does a "birdbrain", as he refers to Governor Haley, have against him?

He says that he has been given a clean bill of cognitive health, is this his chance to prove it?

His handlers must be afraid that he will show his a$$ on the public stage. Maybe more people should use their heads for something other than a hat rack and ask what it is that Trump is trying to hide? Better to find out now rather than later.

I would like to know that of any man or woman competing for the top job.

The fact that he called her a bird brain is a new low.  Why is this acceptable to people?  The man is just completely lacking in character.  Does he not understand that he needs to win over women and Independents of he expects a better showing than 2020 yet all he does is alienate people.  He's going to blacklist Haley donors?   It just gets more crazy by the day.

          Willow,

The man is both coarse and callous and has nothing to redeem him.

It reminds me of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" where regular human beings were dissolved and replaced by an insidious alien life form. It is just that in this story the victims are walking mindlessly about carrying and nurturing Trump seed pods.....

Trump is not a man of great reflection, everything about him reeks of cheap expediency, his having no real principles. I can't imagine anyone more dangerous for the top job.
