Why Trump is flip-flopping on his policies.

Here is my take Trump's solutions are very quick and simple, but he doesn't take into account the consequences of his solutions. He wants to place tariffs on other countries, but he doesn't consider what the consequences of tariffs bring to our consumers or how they affect the interactions with other countries.  He just says there are going to be minor disruptions.

He levies tariffs on Canada.  They in turn cut-off electricity to the U.S..  Therefore, he removed the tariffs. He puts tariffs on foreign car manufactures.  Our big three auto industry tells him, they supply us with  key components that go into our cars.  He removes the tariffs.

His latest solution is to levy up to 250% tariffs on Canada's lumber and dairy products.  He then issues executive orders to chop down trees from our forests to make our own lumber.
But he doesn't take into account how long it takes to come up to operational speed,

He doesn't realize or care that our forest serve as carbon sinks, absorbing one-third of the carbon dioxide released from burning fossil fuels annually. Leaves and tree bark act as natural filters, trapping and absorbing pollutants

He puts people into office who are not qualified to do the job that the agencies require.. Elon Musk is a good example. He fires people and then he hires them back, because he slashes entire agencies without considering who are what their responsibilities mean to the well being of others.

Musk is not a people person because of of his Asperger syndrome By his own admission, he states it gets in the way of interacting with others.

Many others are put in to positions just to shut down the agencies they were hired to manage. An example is the Secretary of Education. She was appointed to just dissolve the department.

Trump has 13 billionaires in his administration.  Do you think they care about the well being of middle America? More than likely, every time there is a down-turn in the markets, because of Trump's tariffs, they buy more stock, because they can afford to do it.

Do you think Canadian trees do something different?  That they do not absorb CO2?  What difference does it make where the tree is when it is cut down?  This sounds like gripes from someone not competent to understand what they are saying.

Has it occurred to you that much of what Trump is doing internationally is nothing but bluff?  Because that's what I see happening...

Do you think the common legislator cares one iota about the well being of middle America or the people of America?  Because I certainly do not; the likes of Pelosi, Clinton, Cortez, Sanders and many, many others belie not only a basic understanding of how things work but even a basic concern about either America or Americans.  So let the billionaires have a chance; certainly they can do no worse then the crowd we have put into power so far!

Good to see you back Wilderness.  And here we go again. A classic case of Whataboutism.

"So let the billionaires have a chance; certainly they can do no worse then the crowd we have put into power so far!"

That sentence can be taken many ways..  Trump has always been a billionaire who is a master con-artist who suffers from acute narcissisms and that is the problem.

He has bought his way back to be president because he can buy the best lawyers who distracted, delayed, and deceived his sentencing for the four things he was indicted for and then he stacked the courts to give him unconditional immunity. If it wasn't for all of that, his a** would be in jail.

.In addition, because he has always been a billionaire, he can't relate to the middle class. And because of his narcissism, you have to kiss his ring or else you are his adversary.

I don't think he has every stepped foot in a grocery store or a dollar tree store. If he did, it would all be theatrics with cameras and the media being there, just like he did with Mac Donald's'.

He hired the richest man in the world who suffers from Asperger's syndrome to take apart our government and its agencies. He not only cannot relate to people, he doesn't even have an official office that was confirmed by congress. He is nothing more than a billionaire hit man for Trump. And that is why he flip-flops just like Trump.

        Your thoughts, please..

No, the problem is that a great many people (mostly liberals) demand their version of socialism and control, and that is in direct conflict with what Trump thinks will work best.

"If it wasn't for all of that, his a** would be in jail."

And if it weren't for Democrats/liberals weaponizing our justice system for a decades long persecution effort he would not HAVE legal problems.  There can be zero doubt that he has been persecuted beyond any other person since Al Capone.

".In addition, because he has always been a billionaire, he can't relate to the middle class."

He relates far better (far better) than the large majority of our legislature.  They have become so far removed from everyday life that they haven't a clue how people live or what they want.  Do you really think that Hillary Clinton shops WalMart for groceries or Dollar Tree for cleaning supplies (for her maid)?

Trump isn't in office to show compassion or give your money away in the name of charity.  He is there to STOP the free flowing river of wealth that Congress has created in order to buy votes, not grow it.  That you complain, that you refuse to accept or acknowledge that doesn't mean that you understand his goal or that you get to make one up for him.  Same for Musk.

“It’s a very simple word, groceries. Like almost — you know, who uses the word? I started using the word — the groceries."

LOL he can't even relate to using the word "groceries.."

I’ve looked over the comment, and while it raises a few concerns about Trump’s policies, I don’t think a lot of the claims really hold water. Sure, Trump used tariffs as a tool to renegotiate trade deals, but the idea that Canada cut off U.S. electricity in response is just not true. In reality, the notion of cutting off electricity was more of a threat that was never actually carried out—trade disputes with Canada have mainly revolved around products like lumber and dairy, with issues being worked out through normal diplomatic channels rather than by shutting down critical infrastructure.

Similarly, saying that tariffs on foreign car manufacturers were simply reversed because domestic automakers pushed back oversimplifies things. Trade negotiations are complex, with many factors and stakeholders involved, and I haven’t seen any case where a tariff was undone solely due to pressure from one industry.  Do you feel reciprocal tariffs on automobiles would be a negative outcome?

Then there’s the claim that Trump’s administration issued executive orders to randomly cut down trees in U.S. forests. That really doesn’t match up with reality. U.S. forestry management is tightly regulated, and any push to boost domestic lumber production goes through careful planning and review—not impulsive decrees. Even though our forests play a key role in absorbing carbon and filtering pollutants, environmental issues are handled separately from trade policy and involve input from a range of experts.

The comment criticizes the administration’s personnel choices, suggesting that bringing in private sector figures means they’re automatically unfit for public service. I think using examples like Elon Musk’s personal challenges to claim he lacks people skills is a bit of an oversimplification. The requirements in private business can be very different from those in government. Likewise, saying that appointing someone like the Secretary of Education was just a move to dismantle an agency mischaracterizes the real debates about government efficiency.

While it’s important to debate tariffs, environmental policies, and staffing decisions, many of the specific claims in the comment aren’t backed by facts and miss the more nuanced reality of policy-making and international relations.
