If you are in a coma and the doctors recommend pulling the plug--would you want your loved ones to agree?

I definitely want to pull the plug on your new threads. Would you pause for a minute, please?

Using humor about a serious matter is interesting.

Well, it depends on where I am on the Glasgow scale, what kind of responsiveness I show, what my chances are for recovery, what kind of life support I would require, and such. I would not want to be taken off life support based on the opinion of just one doctor, that's for absolute certain.

You can get around all that by making a living will so everyone knows exactly what you want.

I agree and I have one. This is a serious subject that many people do not want to talk about so they use humor as a defense mechanism.

I don't think it's all as "deep" as that.  I think it's a subject a lot of people aren't going to discuss on an Internet forum, so they're using humor as a way to contribute something others may find funny as an alternative to being serious.   (As for my own answer to the question, what I'd want would depend on a lot of things - so I don't have an answer.)
