Given the relentless tireless and ludicrously one sided attacks on Barack Obama from the right wing media and how he's responsible for everything that's wrong with the US (including plane crashes, typhoons, broken washing machines, stale bread and cold coffee)and especially the economy....
A thought struck me.
The Sub Prime Mortgage collapse and the whole robo signatures farce (where mortgage providers where signing blank forms in order to push loans through to people who clearly couldn't afford to take out such a mortgage)finally caved in during the fall of 2008.
Obama was elected to office in November 2008. Now it seems the whole SubPrime debacle played a major part in hammering the economy. Banks, financial Profiteers and Mortgage suppliers were falling over themselves to sell the whole SubPrime market to anyone who believed the hype. It was a short term opportunity for a few shysters to make a lot of money at the expense of a lot of people.
So how is it that Obama is getting the blame for things that happened before he took office? Did he personally cause the ruin of Fanny and Freddie? It couldn't have been his policies as he wasn't in government at the time of the collapse.
So have I missed something or do people just hate the president for another reason?
It would be good if the actual question I've posed could be answered without anyone referring to post Obama policies (where I accept he's failed on several fronts albeit with some deliberate obstacles put in his way).
The way it looks to me is that somebody got shot before Obama was given the gun to hold.
No that was Chris Dodd and Barney Frank two more liberal democrats!
Not sure why you bothered responding I could've written your reply for you given the one dimension of everything you say.
Thanks for reading anyway.
Oh right and you are clearly more open minded and an independent thinker and of higher intellect! You muct be because you're a liberal and all liberals know better than anyone about everything! LOL ! The arrogance of the left!
Don't forget well informed.
He didn't even know Obama was a Senator.
But that is understandable, he never did anything other than vote present most of the time.
and being one senator of many he is somehow totally responsible for the subprime collapse?
Is that what you're saying?
Boy your hatred of one man runs deep.
ladynolove - sorry but you're just not very bright I can't help that.
personal attacks don't improve your case or credibility.
She didn't attack anyone personally.
Joe did, you just did.
Oh yes she does. She tells me on a regular basis that I hate America. What do you call that? A compliment?
She demeans and denigrates any liberal. Calls us all liars and America haters. She is one not nice commentator, so you should not worry about her....if she can dish it out--she can take it!
At least they allow YOU the freedom to make your own choices regarding your life...Repub/baggers want to force their views on you!
"It couldn't have been his policies as he wasn't in government at the time of the collapse."
Yes he was, he was a Senator.
He isn't responsible for the mortgage crisis and I don't think anybody said he was.
Years and years of of liberal feel good policies are to blame for the mortgage crisis.
Lenders didn't seek out people to loan money to, people came to them.
Big government policies made sure they got the loan that they could never in a million years have received without the policies in effect.
Then when a report came in about Fannie mae and Freddie mac the democrats blocked investigations into it saying there was no problem.
Democrat rule #1 Lie and see what happens.
Actually, we were doing rather well until one of your heroes started a war.
The mess wasn't really caused by the mortgages per se. The mess was caused by greedy bankers packaging that junk up to sell to greedy and naive investors. The need for more junk to package had a part in that, too and the ease of borrowing attracted investors who just made it all worse.
The original idea was that if banks wanted to take the money of the poor, they ought to be willig to lend to them. If that had been the end of it, there never would have been a mortgage crisis at all even if housing did fall as it did. Greed caused all this.
Rule #1 in affect.
We all know who is responsible for the mortgage crisis and it wasn't war or greed.
Keep trying though, maybe in 2012 someone will buy it.
*Edit* Maybe you're right, democrats greedy to buy votes with government handouts probably did more to cause this than anything else.
Of course they're right, as long as their roads get paved, they get health care, they get, they get, they get...they're loving the democrats cause they get other people to pay for it. Yippeee!
I worked in transportation for 15 years and the one guy who complained the most about potholes (even though I had nothing to do with pothole repair) is now a member of the Tea Party. Go figure.
His taxes paid for fixing the potholes.
He has a right to bitch.
Those who don't...Won't
If you call retiring from government employment with a cadillac health care plan while simultaneously railing against government-paid health care "figuring it out."
The only figuring out you conservatives ever do is how to avoid answering the questions that are a bit difficult for you.
It would be so much easier if you people gave the real reason you can't cope with Obama.
But honesty isn't a conservative strong point.
Democrat rule #4 Everybody but democrats are racist and the charge is to be used most often when losing any argument.
repub rule #4. All democrats are lazy shiftless bums on welfare, who need republicans to tell the how to live.
How boring, it's the same old accusation and namecalling.
Democrats own FoxNews now?
Huh, you'd think someone would have reported that.
Yep, its all the fault of FOXnews.
Thats democrat rule #3
You mentioned lies, lies being synonymous with Fox...
Of course that doesn't matter to the wing nuts, if Beckrushitty says it and Palin repeats it, it's as good as truth anyway.
I forgot about Palin the female of the 3 commentators you mention.
You realize not one of those people have ever created or signed legislation into law...right?
They are just citizens exercising their right to free speech and you can't stand it.
Except maybe Palin, I forgot about her former role as a Governor.
You have to be a legislator to tell lies now? You live in a strange world Tex.
Gosh, those poor old Republicans who had all branches sowed up...those poor innocent repubs were canoodled by Frank and Dodd....gosh, not very smart are they?
That's reason enough to keep those dummy's out.
How can you trust such weak, stupid people in power?
Isn't that the whine from the left now.
Gosh, those poor old democrats who had all branches sowed up...those poor innocent dems.
Sounds kinda silly doesn't it?
No, because the dems didn't have the 60 votes to override the repubs.
It was total domination and control.
John Kasich: "We are in charge now, and you don't have any say."
At least Obama tried...you can't get blood from a stone....or a repub with an agenda...block/obfuscate/deny/destroy...
Mom would be proud. NOT.
De-regulation started with Reagan and continued through Bush I, Clinton and Bush II.
Obama was sending telepathic messages to them...even when he was a baby..."de-regulate" ..."de-regulate".
That's how it happened.
He also communicted with Hitler from the Cosmos...."Heil!"..."Heil!"
Chapman?---you got it, Obama!
Manson?--yup. Another Obama-telepathically controlled robot.
And that changes the democrats running interference how?
Never mind I wouldn't expect you to offer a reasonable explanation.
"Its all the republicans fault"
Put it to music, maybe it will go somewhere.
Ahahahah! Big Bad Barney and Chris just took over a whole Republican administration!!
Dang! Not only are repubs chicken-hawks, they're awful wimpy!
...i just consider it part of the game of 'polythicks'....wouldn't want the job that's for sure...can't ever make everyone happy....
Didn't you attack me a few months ago for posting links to blogs as my sources?
Alas, pretty much every president gets trashed. That’s apparently the media’s job. That’s apparently the opposing party’s job.
In the long run, as with every other president, history will decide.
Will you people keep the political and religious arguments out of this forum please?
Good point. I did not even notice which forum category it was in.
Its not a good point at all.
The rules say this can be here.
Yes, technically it can be here and people who don't like these threads can just ignore it. However, there is a better category for it to fit in.
Either way, it's not a big deal and doesn't merit any more discussion as far as I'm concerned.
The Hubbers hangout
"Go off-topic and discuss whatever you like"
Thats what it says.
Well, maybe time for me to give the forum a pass again.
it is kind of scary what people think.
actually, Obama is the reason I locked myself out of my house this morning to take my dog for a walk.
Oh well, at least it will show those who stay out of the political forum the type of ridiculous arguments and tit for tat name calling that goes on.
Gee. I have once again been duped into reading a thread based on its clever and promising title.
"What fun," I thought to myself. "We can have an ongoing flow of silly, ridiculous rants of consequences and personal foibles that Mr.Obama could not possibly have caused."
Well, I was right on the rant front, anyway.
BTW there are some good lines in here .
For the record, could someone (perhaps Jim Hunter) please outline all these numbered rules so that I can refer to them appropriately? Sorry, I don't have all the amendments to the Constitution memorized any more than I have every chapter and verse of the Bible memorized.
But if we are working within some kind of "rules of engagement" structure I'd like to know what those rules are.
P.S. Obama -- is to blame for my cat puking on the rug this morning. Gaak!
Yeah, well--I had a corn on my foot in 92...that dam Obama!!!
crap....I was wondering why my windshield-wiper went on the blitz....OBAMA!
Joe, it looks like you have the title for your next hub!
sounds like a hot hub topic.

I find it interesting when Democrats say the only reason people will vote for Romney is because he is a Republican. They chastise the people on the right who are loyal to their party. They cannot see that people will not vote for Obama because he is doing a lousy job. OF course it is Ok for them to...
