Billionaire developer and possible Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is now suggesting Barack Obama's presidency could be "illegal" if legitimate proof is not provided demonstrating the commander in chief is indeed a "natural born citizen" of the U.S.

Trump's use of the "I" word came last night during a phone interview with Greta Van Susteren of the Fox News Channel.

Help get TV commercials on the air to bust Obama's eligibility wide open!

"To be honest with you, I want him to have a birth certificate," Trump said, "because [otherwise] that would mean that his presidency was, I guess you'd have to say, illegal. You have to be born in the United States. I hope that he was born in the United States. I hope – but I want to get rid of the word hope, I want to know for sure – I hope that he was born in the United States and I hope this doesn't become a big issue."

Trump defended so-called "birthers," explaining, "They just want to see the president was born in this country."

He also called into question Hawaii's Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie for suggesting he remembered when Obama was born nearly a half century ago.

"I'll bet he didn't even know the parents 50 years ago," Trump said. "I think it's absolutely insane. What he's doing is taking a bullet for the party by making a statement that, 'I remember.'"

Trump also wondered why no doctors or nurses have come forward to announce their presence at Obama's birth.

"Here's the president of the United States, and no doctor, no nurse, nobody's come forward saying, 'I delivered that beautiful baby.'"

Earlier in the day, Trump released an image of his own hospital-generated birth certificate from the Jamaica Hospital in Queens, N.Y., and brought up Obama's spending of large sums of money to keep the history of his early years under wraps.

"He spent millions of dollars trying to get away from this issue. Millions of dollars in legal fees trying to get away from this issue. I brought it up just routinely. All of a sudden a lot of facts are emerging, and I'm starting to wonder myself whether he was born in this country," Trump said on "Fox & Friends."

"This guy either has a birth certificate or he doesn't," he added. "I didn't think it was such a big deal, but I will tell you it's turning out to be a very big deal. Because people now are calling me from all over saying please don't give up on this issue.

I think it's awesome that Trump is asking all these questions.  He's a quirky guy and very independent.

"Birthers" get labeled as lunatics and their questions swept under the rug.

Trump is the little boy pointing out that the emperor has no clothes.   Good for him.

    Hallelujah!
Comments and opinions coming from one of America's richest, mightiest, most honest, full of integrity, persons of importance.

What a load. Fertilize America with that. He is resurrecting tired and old and nothing else. Grapsing at straws to put himself in the limelight of a candidacy.

Remember Trump and Rosie? Two kids in a sandbox fighting. Maturity at its peak. I'm sure he sports the same cleverness now as he did then, as he does on his award winning show that demonstrates the better side of humanity.

Can't wait to see what he has to say about sister Sarah and her gun-toting, moose killing tea parties.

    Who cares.

"Love when #GOP states this country should be run "like a business". How many times have Trump's companies filed for bankruptcy again?"

So exactly how should it be run, LMC?  The government claims we can spend our way out of a financial mess.  Has that ever worked in your house?

Bush put us in that scenario before Obama. It's a subtle thing that presidents on both sides have bought into for decades because of being in bed with the Fed Reserve, Goldman Sachs and the like. Now that there is blood money all through Washington, it's a little more difficult to not play their game, isn't it....

More hostages will be taken on the side of the banks and on the side of the government, long before any of these problems go away. The attitude is financial genocide as demonstrated by big money machine banks, and by government spending, and being republican and running it like a "business" only buys into the problem and attitude more. Republicans buy into money machine genocide. Dems counter with spend, spend, spend, which only heightens Big Bank feeding frenzie.

Who's got the money in America? Banks. Billions and billions of dollars of profit per quarter and Americans lose their homes.

What Trump is doing is catering to lowest common denominator mentality. He's baiting the average American with something that hasn't any legal umph to it at all to put himself in the same limelight as Sarah Palin. And I think he's even dumber than she is.

If there was any value to Obama's lack of birth certificate, it would have been legally addressed long before now. It's not real, and it's school boy mentality ploy to win the votes of the "good ole' boys."

It's stupid, clumsy and as ugly as his comb-over.

My house isn't my business. When times are tight I cut down on household spending but increase the spending on my business.

I do not think it is really important. America is the Holy Land of immigrants and are created by them. What IS important? - What he CAN do now as a president for this country!
    The rest is media games.http://www.pic4ever.com/images/gen152.gif

Well, Trump's mother is from Scotland, his luxury plane is registered in the Bahama's, and his wife is from Yugolsavia??

He's a true champion of the immigrant!!

    Donald Trump a brainless birther?

I am not so sure about that...

Yet, if this is the case, it simply shows how clueless many Americans are...especially with the "conservative" political brand name...

Either he is pandering to the idiots he will need to gain votes, or he is truly one of them...in which case, he will not get very far...(without completely backtracking on this issue).

Either way, a Trump presidency would truly be the sign that America is falling.....akin to Schwartzeneggar's governorship in California.....

This question seems like a no brainer, but hey......say the situation were reversed, and a Republican had won the election. There are questions about his birth certificate, a birth certificate that he steadfastly refuse s to produce and satisfy the questions of Americans who simply want to know that their President was actually born here.

Are we actually expected to believe that NONE of our friends on the left wouldn't be all over this issue like a pack of dogs on a three legged cat?

We all know the answer, so knock off the feigned outrage......
