The more the powers that be try to suppress the movement, the more it will grow. Over the winter months, it may become a little more subdued, however, I do not believe it will die out.
The opposite happened when I was with the SDS in the 60s. I hope you're right. A complete overthrow of the 1% would be nice.
Overthrow? Hobbling, ok, but surely not overthrow
How about stripping them, smearing them with honey and tieing them to anthills?
I doubt they'll been completely overthrown (though I agree that would be good) I do think however, that they will have a little less freedom to flaunt their unbridled criminality. (as a result of OWS movement)
People are frustrated. I don't think that will go away. Graduating college and not finding a job. Having trouble feeding a family. Losing a house to a bank your tax dollars bailed out. These are not easily forgotten or forgiven.
There has always been an occupy wall street movement, rallied until a different flag and a different face. While the movement may die, it's claims never will as long as human nature remains what it is (imo).
As a movement it is dead. There are legitimate issues, but most people don't care to see the crime, blocking of streets, weirdness, fighting with police etc. from OWS. Most Americans don't agree with their socialist politics. The movement has done a poor job of stating it's goals. I don't think most participants really know what they are protesting or what they want.
They don't have socialist politics. A few hangers on, sure. But not generally.
But I agree that the time for camping has passed. They should be doing flash mobs now, IMNSHO.
What is it about America. Dissent does not always equate to socialism, neither does fighting for a more equitable society.
darkwriter: I agree with most of what you said, by they are far from socialist in the truest sense. Dissent is our right.
From what I read they are not stating specific goals (there is a list though). As far as dead, you don't have a clue. They don't need to camp out to be successful. Already the transfer of their funds, boycotting stores and so on. This won't be a tidal wave of change but more of a chipping away at the foundation until it fails. This is a long time coming.
I like your comment. It has been a long time coming. However, it needs organiztion and leadership.
I believe the OWS movement will die out. They do not have clearly defined goals or a well established leadership to keep the movement going. Also, what they are protesting about is nothing new. There has always been and will always be people unemployed. Looking at it from the opposite perspective, 90% of the people are employed if you want to be optimistic about it. I am aware of the other problems that they are protesting about but these changes are not going to happen overnight and without actions from our political leaders.
I disagree. The world is in turmoil, people have higher levels of education and expectations. They are less likely to take the crap that has been doled out previously. This is a global movement, not a national one. Rarely, have so many nations simultaneously revolted. This is the beginning, not the end.
I believe that to be very true; this is only the biginning and it is happening all over the world
It will grow when we all know the following:
This poem is about the Grace Tax Commission and the biggest hoodwink of all time.
The main complaint of the Occupy Wall Street Protestors to date is that there is no message to be said. The message, which follows these words, shall be repeated until the world restores her original fate, unity through diversity and an end to all hate. Occupy Wall Street and protestors around the world, chant this statement: “Put an End to the Federal Reserve!”
The Federal Reserve is a trick you see, a play on words to fool humanity. Just like their Club of Rome, which has its throne in Switzerland, this ultimate masterful play on words, the Federal Reserve, belongs to no government institution. Behind this lie is a family-owned private bank, which dwells on endless war, starvation, poverty and hate, while a handful of families earn their wealth at the cost of your soul’s health.
It’s for all to know and plain to see, this Christmas story. One hundred years ago during Christmas there was a Congressional deal to repeal our country’s right to print its own money. The interest from this debt is how your income tax is set; not one dime of your income tax goes to anything of substance, other than to these well-known families who print the money for your government. The reality is the government runs on taxes on tobacco and booze and everything you can imagine while you snooze, corporate taxes go for war, and your state property taxes pay for most of your local services. This evil was done without regret or your permission, if you don’t believe me read about President Ronald Reagan’s tax commission. Grace knew what you now know, so let’s print our own money, back it by precious metals and commodities then these families will fall you’ll see just like their other trick, Building 7 and the repression of zero point energy.
If you would only read just a little history, you'd know better.
Gold backed currency is no more real or problem free than trust backed currency and we had the crashes to prove that more than enough times to make a believer out of just about everyone.
But not you, of course.
Put your reference to this up please? As long as the Fed is out of the picture we will be better off. Back our currency with gold, silver, land whatever, just not thin air.
As I said, read some history. That's all you need to do.
so you have nothing? A specific title would help
Just ignore him----they are called trolls-they troll the internet just to annoy people. Tey are watered down version of hackers. Sad-why did he ignore the main message is that income tax is a scam? Read the grace report-Anyway he is a piss ant who would never have the nerve meet me in Brooklyn

Hey all,Here's a video I stumbled upon that uses *gasp* facts and statistics -- and history -- to illustrate that the current Occupy Wall Street movement is incorrect, naive, hypocritical, and just plain ol' misinformed.Robert Murphy - an economist who is still waiting for Krugman to get off his...

What did the "Occupy" Movements accomplish? It was a major event in NY, spreading like fire all over the country. But did it achieve anything for it's supporters? If yes, what? If no, why not?
