Iran sentences US man to death for spying

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's Revolutionary Court sentenced an American to death for spying for the CIA, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Monday.

"Amir Mirza Hekmati was sentenced to death ... for cooperating with the hostile country (the United States) and spying for the CIA," Fars said, without giving a source.

"The court found him Corrupt on Earth and Mohareb (waging war on God)," it added.

I guess they are goading the US into a war..like N.Korea tried to do when they sentence hikers to prison, etc. Will the USA buy his freedom or send Bill Clinton in to save him?

I dunno, if someone was spying on the US, we'd probably kill him depending on the situation.

People just hate when the boomerang comes back.

I think that's reasonable.  We've no business meddling in Iran's affairs while there is so much trouble here at home.

It's like the USA is full of ignoramuses that never comprehended the fall of the Roman Empire, the British Empire, or much anything else in the History of the world.

It's never ending a source of amazement for me how stupid and arrogant Americans are.  Where is this "moral high ground" that we so often assume that we have?

I keep looking for it.  I can't find it anywhere.

He received a Trial.  More then can be said of the actions of the United States.

No trial just death with no evidence!

I sure hope something can be done. Iran's Revolutionary Court my arse. Iran is known to use Americans as pawns.

I read this yesterday in the NYT. A bit off OP topic but Iran should be thanking us for once.

Iran has no choice. The international trade and other sanctions have been successful. The sanctions have pushed Iran in a state of financial peril.

The Iranian Rial currency has dunked to 17,000 Rial to one U.S. dollar and 20,000 Euros to 1.39 Rial.

No nation with any sense is buying Iran's main income producer: oil, which is seen as an undesirable and risky investment. Nations are looking elsewhere for safer, more stable and more reliable oil production, not to mention green alternatives to dealing with anything in the Middle East.

Iran spent far too much on its nuclear program, which is the reason for the sanctions in the first place. Now, with increasing belligerence and decreasing rationality, Iran will be putting on more horrific show trials and poking at more giants.

The country is set for parliamentary elections in March and is already engaging in brutal crackdowns. The major opposition group was brutally crushed and the exiles fell into bickering among themselves.

The next presidential election is in 2013, so we're stuck with turkey guy until then.

I was some film documentary and some footage in Iran's where the crowed keep shouting out, Death to America!!! and the President did not bat an eye.

Spying and reconverting from Muslim is a capital punishment by death dose concern me also.

What senseless and ruthless actions.  The Iran Government will not give help for any American cause.  The President has been well to known for rambling about how America is helping other mobs and bystanders to attack our country.  Its a shame that Iran has gotten 2 Presidents that don't know what they are doing.

The Iran President says the American dose not want Iran to have nuclear energy, in which US fears that Iran will turn that energy into nuclear weapons.

The USA and Russia combined owns 90% of the nuclear war head in the world. From stand point, if Iran are not America friends, they can not own a nuclear weapons'

This sound like even a greater issue, like one world order

That's an interesting point you've made.  But, there seems to be an issue with Iran making nuclear weapons.  They haven't been successful in showing the world that there ambitions for building it are peaceful.  And they haven't yet signed any U.N. or Foreign treaties for nuclear weapon involvement.
