Will old Phil become King or will she just have her wrists slapped?
Is this a serious question?
She'd have to abdicate. She can't be head of the Church of England and a Catholic too.
Next in line to the throne would be crowned, but sadly Charles seems to have gone a bit doolally. So, next...!
She is the head of the Church of England, so would have to abdicate in favour of her eldest son Prince Charles. Anyone who is in the line to succession for the British throne, gives up their claim to the throne if they convert to Catholicism. Prince Phillip is the Queen's consort, and well down the succession list in his own right.
The likelihood of the Queen converting is 0
You have GOT to be joking LMAO I can see her becoming a Holy Roller before a Roman Catholic. She is far to puritanical to ever entertain such a notion, especially since she can never be pope--and she already gets to wear robes and crowns and partake in ancient rituals :-))))))) OMG can't stop laughing. BTW " Phil" as you call him, is not in line for the throne-- Prince Charles would ascend I believe and his wife, the fair Camilla, would become queen I believe-- but I am not well versed in these things, being a mere Yank myself :-) Thanks for the laugh hahahahaha
She certainly would not give up her luxurious, lifestyle just for religion!
Quite right, she would not give up the luxury at all!!!
The Queen of England will NEVER convert to Catholicism. She is a staunch adherent to England monarchial tradition. She is not going to give up the accroutrements of her monarchial privilege. The Queen is a shrewd businessperson, not a daffwit! She is worth at least a billion dollars- do you think that she is going to give that up? Never a milnillion times!
Ah, but does she believe in the god she fronts???
You KNOW this is just another Fundraising Stunt to gain new funds for their proposed new yacht!
This one is as good as Fergie selling time with Andrew!
Amazing! It must be so hard living with only a Tax Free income and 5b in Jewels!
Does she have Paypal?
She doesn't need Paypal, she just snaps her fingers!!!
I think she truly does believe in god and the viewpoint of the Church of England. 'Front' is not the case; she is committed to her role with respect to church and state. No matter what you think about monarchy or faith, the Queen is not one to waver and she has been brought up to 'do her duty', in which I think she believes, hook, line and sinker. I'm one of her subjects and though the royal family is sometimes subject to a deal of ridicule (occasionally with good reason) I do think she is genuine. Incidentally, I don't believe Charles will be king; I think he'd rather talk to his plants or Camilla. William would be far better and much more connected to the modern people.
I think that you're right there. William would be better (If royalty has to continue).
if see changes to Catholicism, then she is once conversion away (to Greek Orthodoxy) from becoming a real Christian
Greek One: That's a very strange response since Christianity begins and ends with Jesus and His teachings and Jesus was Hebrew not Greek. Orthodoxy simply means conforming to a certain way or belief.
If I am not mistaken, law prohibits the Queen from being anything but Protestant.
Jesus' teachings where written down and communicated in Greek as was customary at that time. Orthodoxy means "accepted or traditional and established faith"
Greek One: Just because the New Testament Texts are recorded in Greek does not take away from the fact that Jesus Himself was Jewish Hebrew. Greek arrogance does not change this fact.
Jesus native tongue in actuality was Aramaic.
hmmmm i dont believe I ever said Jesus was Greek.
By 'Greek arrogance' are you referring to the hubber Greek One? If so, I think that's too rude. There are other ways of arguing a point. If not, perhaps you could explain.
That's a pretty stupid question. The Queen's religious beliefs have nothing to do with the fact that she is queen. True she is head of the church of England, but that has no bearing upon her station as queen.
Yes Dave it is oprettty stupid to entertain the tought that The Queen would convert to Catholism. However, it does have every bearing upon her station as queen, she can't be quen and a catholic, it is specifically against the law.
I know the answer to this one. She gets a little round wafer and a drink of cheap burgundy.
The Queen as head of the Church of England has every bearing upon her station as Queen, personally, legally and constitutionally.
The Queen is the head of the church of England and is not Catholic because in the past a King of England wanted to divorce and marry and the Catholic church would not allow him to do so.
The King was Henry the Eight and when he decided to break the connection with the Catholic Church/Pope he made himself the head of the new church. He also destroyed much in the way of heritage at the same time, as he had monastic building torn down and many beautiful old manuscripts which were illuminated and written in hand by the monks were lost too. His father had been a devote Catholic and had commissioned many such beautiful books.
The marriage did not last as Ann Boleyn who was the second of six wives was executed, but his desire to marry her changed the course of English history.
Her being the Queen of England and the head of the Church of England is irrelevant though. I am Scottish, living in Shetland. She is, unfortunately, the Queen of Scotland too. What has the Church of England got to do with me. Can she step over the border and become head of the Scottish Catholics - or become a Scottish Atheist?
She lives a hundred more years and they make her Pope. She gets all confused by all these crowns she has and walks out one day with one that reads Burger King. She makes all the bishops stand completely still as people taunt them to get them to move. Finally, she reads the Catholic Bible and goes haven't I read this before and they reply yes you did and it still did not matter then but it got all those relatives to stop killing one another.
Did you know, much as I can't be bothered with the British Royal family, I think we should lay off the queen. She is a very old lady who must be tired and I don't know about you, but I don't pick on OAPS, preferring to offer them the respect their great age deserves.
I wrote a hub about the queen being black, and I haven't been thrown in the stocks yet, so maybe she has a sense of humour too
I hope.
Treason is still a punishable offence in the UK.
I must admit that I didn't phrase the question correctly and ended up picking on the old lady. Whoever is the monarch is the head of the Church of England. What has that got to do with Scotland. Wouldn't mind if our own royalty reappeared but the Queen of all the nations of Great Britain is so English!!!
Ah well she just has a funny accent!
If you haven't read read it, I strongly suggest you read the book called The Queen and I by Sue Townsend.
I read it years ago and it is hysterical.
The Royal family are de-throned and end up living in a council house on a rough estate somewhere in the Midlands.

Well no actually the Queen of England is of German descent
What is wrong with everyone? its humour. The point is that she is old and I doubt that anyone is going to care what she does with her faith before she goes. Sadly I am an American and we enjoy making fun of everything and this Hub site really needs to unwind some. She has actually been a good Queen and has allowed the political process in your country to maintain its liberty.
Gosh sorry I knew it was humour...I was just going off at another angle.
Why don't you get yourself a profile pic? Then we can who who is talking instead of some private eye in a hat.
Yeah right, I will not even put my self on face book, there are way to many weirdos in this World. As many times as I am taken out of context on here someone would probably kill me by mistake. I will stick to my comedy show for now.
I agree this should be light-hearted! The Queen does boost tourism, there's no doubt and, yes, she does cost us a lot too. However, she does not run the country and has some influence but does not have to be obeyed. As has been said above, she is old, she is sincere and should be respected. So let's be kind and tolerant to all opinions. I'm leaving this discussion now!
For this to happen, I think Queenie would have to see the second coming.

What role does religion play in politics today while considering history? Which comes first – God, Religion, Government, or Political Party? Does it matter? How powerful/influential is it? One thing I consider is there is both a liberal view and conservative perspective with both religion and...

In the Bible it is clear that Jesus was Jewish. You will find it written multiple times, however what religion was he leading the followers to? Catholicism believes that Jesus told Peter, " And I say unto thee, thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hell...

I see a growing groups, they formed different kinds of Santanism churches nationwide. Their goal it seem to separate State and Church. In which, I am in agreement with, except they are just another Religion. Why not just more kindness in this world, rather than more religions. I base my life...

How long will Queen Elizabeth II take before relinquishing her throne to the next one in line? Now that Britain is celebrating the Queen’s 60th diamond jubilee. Does she intend to fade while on the throne? Is there no pity for the son?

As we look at the various comments of these forums, one issue stands out. It would seem that many, if not most, view the Roman Catholic Church as the benchmark for Christianity. There are those opposed to Christianity and having no real background in "religion," that reference the...
