    You should just do whatever you feel comfortable with.  If you were in a serious relationship with them previously, you may not be quite ready to give up the sexual intimacy just yet...But be careful because this kind of relationship can lead to heartbreak when one of the person getting the 'benefits' still has strong feelings involved, it can end in more tears (it's not a clean breakup).

    No one can answer the question for you, is it ok for YOU to have a friend with benefits? It is a time honored system for people who don't really date for whatever reason. If it works for you, then it is ok. If you're uncomfortable (enough to be asking online maybe) then you might reconsider.

    Sex involves hormones that promote bonding.  So, it isn't just as casual as one might think.  Do you and your friend feel exactly the same way about it?  Perhaps your feelings are deeper than you think, and you are just wary of long term committments.  How will you feel if your friend wants other relationships outside of your benefitship?
