A friend is someone you hang out with, a true friend is someone you trust, and a best friend is someone you rely on.

A friend is merely an acquaintance when you get to know the person better. A true friend is someone you can rely on and never tell your secrets. A best friend is someone who've known for a long time and hang out with, all the time.

A "friend" is the one you have as a friend for short period of time.A true friend means who actually cares a lot about and always helps in difficult times. And a best friend is the one with whom you can openly be weird.

A friend is someone you know from work, school, or church that you talk to once in awhile and sometimes do things with but do not share everything about too.  True friends are ones you spend a great deal of time with. Your family knows their family and you know a lot about each others lives and talk some about what is going on in each persons life. The best friend is the person who is like a part of your family. You share you dreams with. They know the bad and the good about you. They will be there no matter what like a sister or brother. You will ask their advice and they will ask you for yours. You are close to their families as if they are extension of your own family. There is a closeness and understanding with them you have with no other friend.

A friend is someone that you can be happy with, but they will leave anytime they want IF they find it hard to deal with you.
A best friend is someone whom you want to spend more time with. You can go through ups and downs with them, tell them your secret and share  memories.
A true friend is filtered version of best friend- well, to me it is. Although there is less time invested on them, they will be there and you know they will stay. You tell your darkest secret and share your joyous moment without the fear that they will betray you. When the world go against you, you know that they will not.

The distinction is pretty simple for me.

A friend is someone has seen the inside of my home. As in, I provided them my address and they are aware of where I live. This gives me the solid "base" of figuring out where the relationship will go.

A best friend is someone that I immediately respond to when they call or text me. I don't dread their conversation, because they are always interesting.

A true friend is someone who I can tell anything, and they can tell me anything. There is a trust that is culminated over years of friendship. They know aspects about me only family gets to know.

A friend is someone with whom you can spend your free time.the one whose company you enjoy when you are happy or feeling just a bit down but also, someone you don't fully trust.
A true friend and a best friend are two same but different things. like, you will consider a person as your true friend if  you think he is loyal to you. He is always there when you need him; your savior. He will never say no to you even if it means trouble for him. But there's something lacking in your friendship with him.Sure you are grateful for his help but you can't be "you" with him. You are always cautious of showing your faults to him thinking that he will quit being your friend if he comes to know about your weaknesses. That's where the best friend comes in. He knows you completely; your strength and flaws. You know that you can trust him with your secrets. You are comfortable with him. You are sure that he will be your friend whatever happens and his mere presence gives you happiness.
You see how you define a friend depends on you. If you are judgmental and afraid of showing your true self you will hardly get a good, let alone a best, friend. An open minded personality can do wonders. You will be amazed to find so many good-minded people.

A friend is a person with whom you may talk formaly and a true friend is a person with whom you may talk frankly but a best friend is a person with whom your frankness level is that you can insult them with every sentence you say and you know they won't mind

Friend- won't care about the garbage in your house.

True Friend- would tell you about the garbage present in your house.

Best friend- would not only tell you about the garbage in your house but would help you to clean it too.

A friend is whom you know more than he knows you.
A true friend is who knows you more than you know him.
A best friend is one who knows you more than yourself.

Well for me a friend is someone who I love to talk to, it can be a person I met at school, community and at the office. They are the people who gave a smile to my face because of our conversations and concerns.

A best friend on the other hand is a person who became special to my heart throughout the years of friendship. S/he is a person whom I trusted a lot.

A true friend meanwhile is somehow similar with best friend, the person i can trust, I'm accepted as me, loyal and those people who remain friend even in our old days and vice versa.

from a friend, its best to hide your weaknesses and insecurities but from a best friend you don't have to do a lot of hiding.its better to hide your weaknesses from everyone though.

a friend- someone who you can hang around with, and talk basics and laugh and enjoy your time, but you cant share deep secrets and trust bonds between two is poor.

a true friend- is a friend who is honest with you. and a friend who will stand beside you when the million is against you. someone who would care truly for you.

a best friend- is close to a friend, but trust is more strong. in addition, you feel comfort with them and you share deep secrets, a best friend is a friend who farts in front of you, and is not afraid to look the worst in front of you.

A friend is someone you say hi every once a while. Someone who lets you copy off their homework
A true friend is someone who understands you
A best friend is someone that knows you from top to bottom. You don't even have to tell them something is wrong because they already know.

A "friend" could be your drinking buddy, someone you regularly meet at parties, or you watch football games with.

A "true" friend is someone that will be "there for you" at times of need, and with whom you share your most intimate secrets with a great trust.

The "best friend" is very hard to find, and it's your "alter-ego", someone whose very presence is mirroring you in so many ways. You may catch each other starting the same sentence at the same moment. And while you are talking you get that distinct feeling that your friend already knows what you are about to say.

It's a deeply empathic, at times almost telepathic closeness. You may not ask your best friend for any favors, call him at times of a need---or you may do it, but your bond goes much deeper than that.

Like I said, such a friend is hard to find, just like a right soulmate with whom you would spend the rest of life with no later regrets.
