We don't often simply love another person just out of the blue. Generally, when we meet someone we start liking parts of what makes them special. Before we are even aware, we have started to love those traits. You may love one woman for her kind heart and another for her spirit and tenacity. If we were only able to love one person, then children of large families would receive little to no genuine love at home.
Have I told a man that it is impossible for him to truly love me if he has feelings for someone else? Of course, my ego has a closet witch that pops out and says stupid things from time to time. That way of thinking is irrational and unfair, but when emotions are involved, irrational behavior seems to be expected , possibly even accepted.
We are all ordered by God to love everyone. But, we also are ordered to be one flesh with only one other person. The man who says he is in love with 2 different women is fooling himself and the 2 women are also fooling themselves. Be a whole person who has direction and spiritual fulfillment. Or, as some say, be able to live alone in your own flesh. If you're whole, you'll seek a whole person and will not accept someone who is not. Someone who is looking for different traits in different people is not whole and is not looking for a whole person. Otherwise, you'll have everything your partners needs and vice versa. But, if this other person provides an outside stimulation to make you feel complete, you'll eventually get tired and seek stimulation from someone else.
I believe a man can love more than one woman, just as gmcmeee said... There are different types of love.. even different types of romantic love.
I think we can certainly be in love with more than one person at the same time but it will be a different experience with each individual.
In my opinion it is our posessive jelous nature that leads us to say men can not love more than one woman. We wish it were true. We all want to feel like the only woman in the world to the one we love, but that doesn't make it true.
I wish I could escape this posessive jelous nature in me, but it's just a part of who I am.
