   Because when we were slaves the white man had the slaves thinking that white is right n made them hate the skin that their in literally n this been going on for generations so all the what is white r close to white which is light,.They are still in that same mind frame today it sad but tru if they only knew the truth the darker the women the deeper the roots go scientifically  proven what to know more just ask u are a child of the sun rays your bless n u dont even know it.

If this answers your question: there is a study that shows that 80% light skinned woman prefer dark skin men of light skin men, and 95% of dark skin men prefer light skin woman of dark skin woman. The answer to your question is simply the way of the human brain in the way of our frontal lobe releasing hormones, causing attraction, or simply just your genetics.

    Its simple, I'm a lightskin guy myself and I observe this a lot myself. But what I believe is the general problem is that television, magazines, internet, etc. portray lightskin women, white women, and Hispanic women like sex symbols. Look at most rap videos, they're isn't a dark skinned girl in sight, why? Because some people feel that a lightskin girl is an upgrade so to speak. Personally, some of the ugliest females I've ever seen were lightskin. But what a lot of men, me included at times, is that the darkskin female has natural beauty just like any other female. Now a lot of us have preferences, so you can only feel so bad about it, alot of females don't like lightskin men , but I have to remember, we all have preferences and if that's what they like, alright cool, there's always a better looking, kinder hearted person somewhere waiting for someone like me, and a lot of females have to notice that, males too. Were all human, and we should all have the type of attitude that shows no impartiality to anyone, no matter what color but until people realize that, were just gonna be blinded by color, not the heart.

    Honestly,living in Eastern Europe I can say I do not get this case very often but I do not think that you should mind it.True love exceeds the barriers of color and physical aspect.

    It is not only in the West - the thought that fair skin = beautiful is a worldwide phenomenon.
    I have lived and worked in East Asia (China etc), South Asia (India etc), South-East Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia etc), the Middle East, South America as well as 'the West'.
    The epitome of beauty in all those countries, even those without a slavery past, is white skin. A dislike of dark skin inevitably follows. Look up the 'Lou Jing' case in China for some insight.

    He's being racist about himself. Now I get it. Black skinned people complain about racism when they themselves hate their color. Everyone must be proud of the looks and the color God gave them, especially because nothing will change about it naturally, and people shouldn't go bleaching themselves and doing surgeries to look different. Don't go sculpting yourself when God already sculpted a perfect figure exclusively for YOU.

    well this issue is present in every part of the world and they are not restricted to certain race. But then again, beauty is relative what type of person you may find attractive others might not see that person as attractive. Inner qualities are more important than outer beauty but our society give more importance to outer beauty and physical appearance. I guess everyone wants a partner who is better looking than him or her.
