You can also go out and find and socialise with people but if you happen to be a workoholic make friends in your environment.

Start exploring the hubpages. There is a lot to learn here. Also try to join the hub community (forum. ) . You won't know how the time flies. Alongwith, you will learn a lot, make many friends, ultimately you'll start earning too.

I had that problem when i was young (I am age 55 now).  I was very lonely.  I decided to change my personality.  I looked at other guys who seemed to be nice guys and well-liked guys.  I compared my personality to them and made a list of my good/bad traits and their good/bad traits.   For example.  Those guys were good talkers. I was shy and aftaid to talk.   Those guys were good at laughing at jokes.  But I was serious and never told jokes.  Many other things too.... you get the idea.  Then i determined myself to change myself A LITTLE here... a little there. Now i can tell jokes.  I can talk to people easily.  I make friends ok now.  I know I will never be as great as some of those guys.  Some people REALLY HAVE the gift don't they!
Don't worry about it too much.  It's just part of growing up and you need to just work on things like i did and you will be OK.  Here is a suggestion for you.  Change your avatar picture.  Make a picture where you are smiling.  I need to do the same thing.  My picture is not smiling also.  The reason i am NOT smiling is because i am holding my dog that I thought
was die-ing.  So i don't look very happy do I?  Lets both change that so we look more friendly. What do you think?

The only way you can is to interact with people in some form or fashion. Pick a hobby and attend some instructional classes where you make something. No interaction until your ready and yet you are still out of your shell and around people. People of both sexes and all ages which is good attend these You'll find someone to talk to or they will find you. Also consider getting a pet, they help.
