Can you tell when someone is faking an apology?

We all already know that when a politician' s mouth is moving - they are lying.

If they continue to repeat the behavior they are apologizing for, then they are definitely faking it.

definitely, by the tone of his/her voice, facial expressions and actions. by actions, i mean, if somebody continues 2 do that objectioinable deed for which he/she is apologizing, then it means he or she is a hypocrite?! right?

He will avoid eye contact and if he does look in the eye,he will end up smiling later.Voice trembles if a person is actually sorry and seeking forgiveness.

Yes..When that someone cannot look at you straight into your eyes when apologizing,or when he keeps on making the same mistake over and over and says sorry for it for the nth time, then he is probably faking it.

If they say "I'm sorry you feel upset" rather than "I'm sorry I upset you". It makes it sound like it's my fault instead of theirs.

Absolutely- the liar can hardly look you in the eyes. And the facial expressions are usually exaggerated.

Absolutely.  The insincerity is almost palpable.  But there's one thing worse than a fake apology, and that's the un-apology.  E.g., "I'm sorry you feel that way."

I'm so sorry but I don't have an answer for you. I have tried really hard to come up with one, but I have failed you.  Please will you accept this sincerest and heartfelt apology from me to you.

Although I don't actually know you obviously.

You can always tell just by looking at their eyes, and their mouth expressions, real simple.

Yes, if you know what to look for - the body language tells most of it - then the eyes - becuase they are the windows of the soul and if that person does not look you dead center in your eyes to apologize then it's not real.... keep on going...
