That all depends on your definition of "marriage." Monogamous or polygamous marriages are two completely different dynamics, but both occur in nature as social make up by as gorillas with one male to multiple females or even within gibbons as monogamous couples. Marriage is a cultural creation which defines guidelines which defines what is expected of a mating couple, or multiples. Some cultures allow for grey areas, others do not. Its all in how you define the concept.
