Why do some cheerfull people seem so annoying?
Not every cheerful person is annoying. Just the ones that do not pause or stand still. I personally need a break every now and then, usually in the morning.
My hunch is that it's not the good cheer of such folks that become difficult to take, but rather the sheer volume of nervous energy they put out. Hyper, like those little yappy lap dogs.
Quite frankly, I should know, being married to a lady with a bit of that temperament. Not every day these days; she's too ill for that. But on her "better days", yes.
In Pam's case, she's severely mentally ill (and owns it--I'm not telling tales out of school here) but also "high functioning".
When she gets really quiet, she's usually either in ultra-severe pain or severely depressed.
Because they are overcompensating. Usually because a lack of confidence in their surroundings and who they are as a person
Their energy levels are much higher than yours and you can't seem to be comfortable at their range of frequency. Sometimes some people put their energy so high so they could get through the day, and you can't stand the falseness or the act of cheerfulness especially if it's not genuine.
because some of them just seem to want to get attention. Being cheerful is not actually annoying. It's just how the person executes the action.
Over the top cheerfulness can be annoying. In a time when we hear so little cheer and happiness, I have come to appreciate, love and admire these cheerful folks.
When a person is down or just wants a quiet normal day it is hard to be around a cheerful as they almost seem too superficial. I believe I can tell genuine from fake and it is the fake ones that really get me going. Also, the ones with those high pitched little annoying voices. I guess I went on a bit didn't I. I love to hang around cheerful people but it depends on the way they express it whether or not that I get annoyed.
Some cheerful people are annoying because they are faking it or trying too hard and you just want everyone to be calm and quiet.
Overly cheer full people are most definitely annoying. I feel like they get under my skin because it is obviously fake, almost like an act. I prefer to spend my time with people that are real with me. It's OK with me if everything doesn't make you giddy.
Great question and I know exactly what you mean. It seems to become a mantra for this type person and if they aren't extolling the beauty of the day (which it probably is), for what seems like the millionth time, they don't appear to be comfortable or happy.
I agree with others who have answered the question, it's not the genuine cheerful person that becomes annoying, but those who - want attention, are proving something to themselves or sound and appear fake. All I can say is, thank goodness there aren't that many over-the-top "cheerful" people in my life, because I get to appreciate those genuine ones who bring a lot of joy into my life.
I recently found out it not the cheerful person.. it the other way around.
