Is it important to believe in the same political and religious ideologies for being friends?
Tough question. I honestly think it depends on the person. If you want my honest opinion, if I know someone on a personal level, and they are different from me politically or religiously, then I usually ascribe good intentions to them, even if we disagree. You can be a friend to someone through hard times, even if you are not the same political persuasion. If a friend's wife died, I wouldn't be concerned with how he was voting.
When I see politicians on my television saying that being gay is wrong and that global warming is a hoax, I tend to be less forgiving when ascribing motives. There's honesty for you! Take it for what it's worth.
I find this a tough question, too. I have a couple of friends, a married couple, whose politics are extremely different from my own but who are basically at the same place as me when it comes to spiritual issues. I like them immensely, but I sometimes find it difficult to feel close to them because I think their politics contribute to a social attitude that has been harmful to our society. I struggle with this question still.

You know how I am very skeptical of religiosity, however, there is, for me, a deeper consideration about all this apparent need for "faith" and "beliefs."It's all about inspiration and what gives us humans impetus. There is a need to look beyond the mundane and the forces...

Many believe Atheism is not a religion because it does not follow traditional beliefs. Others believe it is a religion because it has to do with existentialism. What do you think?
