    First and foremost, you can't love anyone if you don't love yourself first.  It's tough to answer this question without using any cliches, but it is better to love than to not love at all.  Why? Because a sense of happiness overwhelms you in the process and the world is a much better place to be.  And the only time love stinks is when your love for someone isn't reciprocal or isn't returned.  If and when that does happen that love you have for someone diminishes and turns into something else.

    As far as being loved in return or when the shoe is on the other foot, you can actually make yourself fall in love with someone either through compassion for that person that you do respect if you want to.  I know that this sounds like a paradox but it's the complete truth.

      I tend to show love to those most deserving..but as a humanist, I am learning to love all people whp ARE human....we all need love to live. I don't care who you are, you must have some kind of love in order to have the courage to  on in life

    This question is very similar to asking: Is it better to give or receive? There is no universal right or wrong answer. Some people live to love and others aren't happy unless they are being showered with love and attention. In my person opinion in order for you to have found "the one" it would mean that she or he also sees you as being "the one". Being soulmates is not about having one giver and on taker. It's about have (mutual) feelings.
    In an idea situation it is best when you receive the same kind of love you give.

      smile      I love my boyfriend and he loves me...we have arguments about who loves who more..is it possible to love one person more than another in a romantic relationship?
