Can a person really fall in love with someone he/she just met on the internet?
yes, it is possibly. i met my girlfriend from a website and we have been together since feb. she lives in minnesota, we haven't met yet but we plan on it, we are still talking about it
Anything is possible. However I believe what actually takes place is a meeting of the minds whether it's via the Internet, love letters, or phone conversations. To truly know you are "in love" with someone requires enough time to get to know each other's "authentic self". Even when we meet people (in person) our initial time together is the "Infatuation Phase" of the relationship. This is when we seldom if ever use the word "no" to any suggestions. Everything is wonderful or perfect. Real love comes after you have seen the flaws in each other and still feel like you've won the lottery! One man's opinion! :-)

I hear people say, I fell out of love. Does that mean the feeling they were experiencing was really love or just plain old strong infatuation?
