Do you think you come across as approachable or standoffish in a public situation?
Sometimes we perceive ourselves as something we may not be.
Both....depending on my mood and attitude and the people perceiving me, at the time. I've been told I come off one way or the other by different people on different occasions.
I also believe this is the case with just about everyone.......Stop and think about it.
Unfortunately, I'm typically perceived as standoffish and arrogant. I tend to be quiet and reserved and prefer intellectual conversation over small talk which is perceived as arrogance apparently.
But like fpherj48, this perception can change with my mood, and my surroundings.
I'm useless at small talk and I find it such a waste of time - I know that I don't do it well, and I know that anyone who's tried to small talk with me invariably dislikes me!
Yup, lol I have the exact same problem! Thankfully, my hubby wasn't one of those people lol
sorry I suffer from dyslexic fingers..and don't double check..the " I " is to close to the " O" on my keyboard....thanks for reading..at least I know there is at least one person out there taking note..loved your comment...
I believe I appear standoffish in public. I am always getting comments like, "Smile, it can't be that bad." I just tell them that is just my face and it is true. I can be hopping happy on the inside but my face tends to look dour...sad because I don't feel that way. i look depressed when I am not.
Like Daughter of Maat is has often been perceived as arrogance when in fact it really isn't.
That's frustrating too, I think. People immediately write you off as arrogant and therefore unapproachable. Consequently, no one takes the time to get to know us. So frustrating....
Since I am such a deep thinker, I often appear to be standoffish in public. If approached, I do open up immediately and respond with as much kindness and sincerity as possible.
Definitely approachable...as a performer I have always had people come up to me about - what ever...
I know how I come across - I come across as both, or either, depending on my mood. When I'm in a good and sociable mood my eyes are wide open and my smile is friendly and inviting, and I laugh a lot. However, when I'm in a less open mood I know that my nose tilts up in the air a little bit, and I raise one eyebrow and am definitely standoffish - I wouldn't talk to me when I look like that, looking down on the world! It passes quickly, but I know that I do it because I do it on purpose to scare people away when I want to be left alone I've done it since I was a child - I think my mum used to find it a little embarrassing!
Since I am a quiet person (except at times when I can cut the fool), some assume I am standoffish and stuck up. Yet, for those who truly take the time to get to know me, they find me refreshing, funny and sweet. It's just a matter of getting to know me. I won't be liked by all I know, yet I be as polite as I can be.
Hopefully I come across as both...this way if I appear " standoffish" they won't
come over and start an unintelligent conversation about the " Kardashians"..
On the other hand I hope to perceived as " approachable" if they want to give me money...or a gift of some sort...or hunger for my words of eliquent substance...
I did this just to see if anyone really reads what other have to say regarding these questions...have a fun day...
lmao you spelled eloquent wrong See, I read it! (I say that in complete playfulness!)
I think I am approachable as I have always been an extrovert. People always talk to me, in grocery lines or anywhere. I found things to be that way when I was in nursing. It was amazing sometimes the things people would tell me.I am smiling much more often than frowning, so maybe that is why.
I think I'm pretty approachable. I'm always smiling and I'm always friendly. I'm also a musician and I enjoy entertaining people .
In an art gallery I am very approachable. At the movies I am also very approachable. At a concert I would tend to be lost at sea because music without visuals to beef it up leaves me lost at sea. Hence I would be a tad standoffish though I wouldn't mean to be.

Does your music taste change depending on your mood?If I'm happy, I like happy music. I love The Beatles, for example. Then, when I'm feeling down, I like to listen to more acoustic music, like David Gray. It's not always the rule, because sometimes I can listen to absolutely anything, from one...
