Would You Vote For A Gay President Of The United States Of America
Sometimes I sense that the United States has changed. It probably has. Just 50 years ago there was resistance against there ever being a African American President. The United States Now has a black President Do you believe America is ready for a Gay President? Or do you think that America is still very conservative and a Gay President may still be 100 years away. ?
I would totally. It is all about his/her policies. A person's sexual orientation really has nothing to do with the ability to perform a task/function but I do agree that it would be a long time coming.
I would be happy to vote for a gay president if the person running was qualified to do the job. I do think the U.S. is becoming more open-minded and I am curious to see what the general population would think of a gay president.
Color, gender and sexual orientation have nothing to do with my voting for someone whose political policies I agree with. If I believe that a person is the right thing for the country, it doesn't matter what he or she looks like or who he or she prefers sexually. Why should it? These things have nothing to do with the value of a person or their intelligence or ability to run the country.
Gender really doesn't matter in governance. It's a president's knowledge, patriotism, and courage that can lead a country towards economic growth and stability.
Good answer. Please keep them coming.
I don't give a hoot if a presidential candidate is black, white, purple, male, female, gay, straight, or whatever. If I think they're qualified for the job then they've got my vote.
If they were the person for the job, of course.
If there was one gay person against a straight person and the straight person had the better qualifications to be the president - I'd vote for the person best for the job.
I'm not bothered by sexual orientation of my prime minister or president.
However if they are for taking away my rights or prevention of equal rights....regardless of what they identify as - I have some issue with that.
I agree with everyone else who has commented. I would vote for he or she, no matter what their sexual orientation is. It would most certainly depend on how they are qualified for the job of being president. However, I don't see an openly gay man ever being president. We might unknowingly elect one who is gay, and not know it. Some people say that has already happened.
I think we are closer to having a female president, than an openly gay president. I think if Obama had not received the nomination, (for his first term) Hillary Clinton would have been elected over John McCain. No surprise that she is now secretary of state. There are many closeted gays working in our government, it's just that nobody wants to talk about it.
Briman - in regards to the "openly gay" president comment - do you think this is because the more vocal of the opponents are just not ready for that? Much like when Tupac sung "We ain't ready for a black president" - now we are, so..one day perhaps?
