I adore the Book of Proverbs, pearls of wisdom from history's sages........I really do.

In times of turmoil, great joy, indecision, mistrust, excitement, eagerness and a host of other emotions, this is my guiding pearl.................

" and this, too, shall pass".

Whether the call is to enjoy it, celebrate, or endure it..........." it", too, shall pass, and a newer emotion  will come to take its place.  Knowing this, I will either savor and grab hold, or ride the storm.

I like that answer.  It is a good one to remind us that whatever comes, the only thing that stays the same is that everything changes.  Voted up.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat it's fruit" (Proverbs 18:21).   It shows how powerful or words are-they can make or break us-or other people!

    Proverbs 3:5-6
5Trust in the Lord with all your heart
        and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

It reminds me to not rely on human understanding or knowledge but to trust God and He will lead me on the right paths.  The hard part is not relying on me.

God grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.

I am pretty, but not beautiful,
I sin but i am not the devil,
I am good, but i am not an angel...
    ~ Marilyn Monroe

    ~J K Rowling

You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
    Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.

"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." - Elie Wiesel (Wiesel is the author of 36 works dealing with the moral responsibility of all people to fight hatred, racism and genocide)

"All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth." (Aristotle)

the following is not a proverb nor a saying but it is nonetheless motivational:

"My dear children: I rejoice to see you before me today, happy youth of a sunny and fortunate land. Bear in mind that the wonderful things that you learn in your schools are the work of many generations, produced by enthusiastic effort and infinite labour in every country of the world. All this is put into your hands as your inheritance in order that you may receive it, honour it, and add to it, and one day faithfully hand it on to your children. Thus do we mortals achieve immortality in the permanent things which we create in common. If you always keep that in mind you will find meaning in life and work and acquire the right attitude towards other nations and ages."

(Albert Einstein talking to a group of school children. 1934)
