First, we MUST define a "Christian" who has "hope" for "salvation" according to HIS WORD and never "our opinion!"
As you know, "Christian" was a derogatory term used for disciples (Christ Followers); "first in Antioch" (Acts 11:26)!
How does one become a "Christian?" Let's go back to when the FIRST CHURCH was established on The Day of Pentecost (Acts 1 & 2). Jesus commanded the disciples not to depart from Jerusalem, but "WAIT" for the "Promise" which they had heard from HIM before in John 14:26; 16:13 (Acts 1:4). Although they had been baptized "UNTO" repentance, they would now be baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5). REMEMBER: The Holy Spirit is our HELPER (John 14:26; 16:13) who gives us "POWER" (Acts 1:8), which is JESUS' POWER, to overcome ALL!
On the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2), "..they were all WITH ONE ACCORD in one place" (Acts 2:1) "when "suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,, and it filled all the house where they were sitting" (Acts 2:2). (v3) "..it sat upon each of them (v4) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit..."
Now, I ask, have we ("Christians") "OBSERVED" the disciples example(s) as commanded in Matthew 28:20 which said "Teaching them to "OBSERVE" all things whatsoever I have commanded you...?"
Are we really "Christians?" For without the "POWER" of the Holy Spirit we are only "interpreting" Scripture without "HELP" from the Holy Spirit and consequently creating approximately 33K + denominations in the US alone!
Furthermore, after being filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter advised the disciples that they had killed (Acts 2:22-36) "both Lord (GOD) and Christ (Jesus)!" (v37) "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? (v38) Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and be baptized every one of you in the name of JESUS CHRIST for the remissions of sins, and ye shall receive the "gift" of the Holy Spirit."
In order to be a "Christian," one MUST "OBSERVE" the disciples and be baptized in the name of JESUS CHRIST to "receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!" Have you done this? Are you "TRULY" a "Christian" according to HIS WORD or are you a "Christian" according to the Nicene Council or what the world calls "RELIGION?"
Therefore, if you are not a "Christian" according to HIS WORD, you don't have "salvation" to lose!
HARSH? YES! (Hebrews 4:12)! BUT WORD (TRUTH)!
Answer: One must have salvation "according to WORD," before you one can "lose!"
