aham brahmasmi. I am the God.
we need to find our own self . there are umpteen number of things that we do not know about ourselves. i heard that a common person uses only 15 % of his / her brain in his/her lifetime.
search of the self . and the search of why you are in this world . the purpose . will definitely brings us closer to God.
I would say to the degree of emptying out selfishness and becoming selfless. And I mean that you will have to forget about what you know, think, want, and do and be willing to know, think, want and do what God wants and tells you to do.
When your heart and mind has surrendered to that degree then you'll be able to hear God easily which in turn leads to great wisdom through your obeidence to God. Obey God at all cost; move when He says move, stop when He says stop, give when He says give, forgive when He says forgive. All that you read in the bible and think of doing when you don't want to do, especially the good. But remember this; with much widsom comes much sorrow. You'll see people and deal with people the way God does. And you'll hurt for them.
I hope this answers your question..Be Blessed
To have Godly wisdom, is to first understand that his wisdom is himself, and Gods lowest form of wisdom cannot be used by man.
Though the wisdom is God it is the most important thing of Life itself that God can live in a human. When God lives in a human the human is led by the wisdom itself, and you as a person cannot control it.....it moves you where he takes you for himself.
The wisdom of God is the Holy Spirit
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, Verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Sweet and short of it
You have to seek God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength to learn his wisdom. One of the hardest things for the western mind to do is to surrender their will to a "master" or in this case God.
The master and servant relationship was common in Yeshuas time but no so common here in the United States. In general we value our individualism over our service to others. Unlearning this individualism is the hardest part for me as a Christian.
Picking up my cross daily and surrendering my will to God is the hardest part of being a Christian; nevertheless God reveals himself to those that dilligently seek him and God himself will teach you.
He and his kingdom is within you and he will never leave you. That is what it says in the Bible. I take that it means he is there when you need him always and you really don't have to seek anywhere but within. Jesus said that the laws are already in the minds and hearts of mankind. He also said that if you have questions ask, seek, believe and you shall find. The Bible also says that all of the miracles and stories are not in the Bible alone nut only a small portion of them and Jesus says to not go by books or traditions either. God is there within and all around us every single moment of our lives and more.

To what degree are we actually able to choose our beliefs or lack thereof?I've often been told that I should choose this religion or that faith or choose to believe in something rather than not, but I don't necessarily think beliefs are an active choice. You cannot choose to disbelieve...
