Thanks London Girl but you missed something in the first link that you posted, this one
    http://www.avert.org/abc-hiv.htm

PEPFAR is not a Catholic source but it is very close to what the Catholic Bishops in Africa are saying.  PEPFAR is a US-funded initiative.

Note how the A for Abstinence is stressed in this billboard.

From the second link that you post LondonGirl it quotes this below.

I am awaiting your apology for your genocide remark London Girl.

    Mike

You are going to wait, sorry.

"PEPFAR" is not what was done in Uganda. There has been a massive increase in use of Condoms in countries such as Uganda which have successfully reduced HIV infections.

But as to your genocide remark LondonGirl you are basically saying the same for US policy regarding the prevention of HIV and AIDS in Africa because they are basically the same as the Catholic Bishops in Africa.

I wouldn't expect it from a lodge member anyways.

I don't think it is the same. The Catholic Church is completely against condoms.

      Lodge member? What lodge?

Sorry to interject--and not to be controversial, as my feeling about things here are at best 'mixed,' but as a point of fact--the Catholic Church did indeed endorse birth control a while back.  The theory of evolution as well.

OK.  Continue!   Cannot believe this post is still going on....

I found an article about evolution, http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/commen … 05331.ece/ -- but so far haven't found anything on birth control -- do you recall where you read it?

No!  I think it may have been Catholic Catechism class a long while back, though, lol!

I'm not exactly 'practicing,' more like, wink, identify 'culturally.'  But pretty sure I'm correct on those points.

And btw, this link did not work...

sorry about the link -- I can't post photos, either.  I have read the instructions many times.  I think it might be something to do with the fact that I'm Irish.

The story was from the Telegraph on Feb 11, 2009, stating that a Vatican spokesperson had unequivocally endorsed the theory of evolution.

But regarding the birth control bit -- I do realize that many American Catholic clerics openly advocate ignoring the ban on birth control; but the Vatican's position?  I can't find any notice of it having changed.

I'm pretty sure they did--I believe it may have been even close to a decade ago.  Growing up as I did, I guess I have been attuned in some odd way to news about the church.

What, Teresa, do you mean you are one of those Irish protestant types?  smile  Oh, you know--THOSE..  Lol..

Yep: Christened Presbyterian, attended the occasional Church of Ireland service, educated Methodist, studied existentialism, graduated Zen Episcopalian.

No I don't think the Vatican has changed regarding birth control.  Not to my knowledge anyway.

This link should work for the TimesOnline article.
            http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/commen … 705331.ece

But you can't believe everything in the media.  The author of the article is wrong when he says "The Vatican has admitted that Charles Darwin was on the right track when he claimed that Man descended from apes."

Here's what the Catholic encyclopedia says about Catholics and Evolution.  Here's the bottom line.

It's funny how the media exaggerates things and people believe it.

Here's another example of the media exaggerating things and people believing it.  A couple things actually.

The Catholic Church doesn't force anything on anybody.  So the PEPFAR US policy and the Catholic Bishops of Africa policy are basically identical.

Argentina has kicked said Bishop out of the country:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7900591.stm

I don't think the policy is at all the same. "Use condoms and go to hell" isn't the USA's line.

    1. Make Money profile image67
Make Moneyposted 16 years agoin reply to this

That's a shame, all because of a handful of wining zionists.

"Use condoms and go to hell" isn't the Catholic line either.  So like I said, the Catholic policy and the US policy are identical.

You know, I may stand corrected--maybe it was the American Catholic Church in regards to birth control...  Anyway, I'm thinking I heard what I heard on NPR a few years ago....

And Teresa!  I hope you know I'm kidding.  I'm not taking any of this very seriously...  I'm like, half Buddhist/part mystic/part Catholic/part-who-knows-what or something.  lol

I was just uploading a photo of my cat (that's what started it all), and couldn't figure out how to post it into a forum comment, so I made it my profile pic for a while.  Then the whole thing got silly.  I blame Sufi, myself, as he mentioned the Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles. . . . . . .

nyway, back to the original subject:

    A folow up:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldne … caust.html

Now this guy is meant to be let back in to the Catholic faith? Reinstated?

I don't think so especially since he believes girls should not go to university and they do not have true ideas, he also thinks the U planned 9/11 which whether it happened or not shouldn't be said by someone of his "stature"

It's comments like that that drag religions into the mud with all the other backward-thinking complete morons who should really just keep thier mouths shut for they only serve to make them look like idiots.

Hence, religions are backward and stuck in the past
