Controversy seeking people, WHAT IS your PROBLEM that you always need to stir up controversy???!!! HMMM??? Why do such vitriolic anti-religionists stir up debates with religionists minding their own business? Why would anyone be so BORED as to constantly bring up hot button topics like ABORTION in a polite writing site forum??? I wonder about such people!!! What do you have to say about such attention seeking people who must always drag out the most touchy issues to INCITE arguments??? They do it under the GUISE of wanting to engage in intelligent discussion...but watch out! if you disagree with their opinions. Why do we give an audience to such venomous, vituperous people who only seek to amuse themselves with flamewars??? Let us boycott these empty, SOULLESS, un-intellectual polemicists and their so-called debates!!!
Ultimately this is a forum by and for people who write hubs. I always wonder what anyone else is even doing here.
A thought-provoking question indeed, gmwillams. I think you are right about the motives of "such people," but ultimately we must realize that "such people" are only providing the forum entertainment others want. I suppose if Such Person's brand of entertainment was unwanted, Such Person would have been voted off the island a long time ago. You can show your lack of support for such threads the same way I and many others do, by ignoring them.
This person is not me but a person who has recently signed on as me. I would NEVER use the same username TWICE. In fact, I would NEVER have TWO accounts, to me, that is unethical. I never even posted this thread!
Yes gmwilliams, I was well aware it was a parody of you. Nonetheless, as rude as it is to slyly impersonate your style, I think the now departed troll makes a point, perhaps one you should reflect on when you are less angry. If you insist on starting 10 repetitive posts a day to stir up controversy, you must develop the ability to take what you can dish out. I do not understand posters who do certain activities all the time, yet get peeved when others do the exact same behavior.
I assumed this was not actually Gmwilliams, but someone mocking her as to get a reaction or to make a point. This doesn't have her profile pic and the person has a 33 hubscore. Someone recently did it to one of our other posters... started an account with her name and posted horrible things as if they were her. No?
Well at least you have to credit the "related discussions" generator. It posted two of the real Gmwilliams' threads at the bottom.
Isn't it illegal to impersonate someone?
I asked someone the other day if they had more than one account and they said no, that HPs would ban them if they did, and that HPs could tell... but I thought several ppl had alternate accts on here, so Im confused. I'm sure if this is not really Gmwilliams, their account will be closed quickly. Was this a big run on answer? Im watching my favorite show at the same time. lol
haha yep! Big run, but interesting. There are a few people I know that have more than one account. And I believe, if I remember right, that when I sign off of HP the option of "Sign in as a different user?" is on the screen.
Oh yeah, Im sure you're able, but... you know, some ppl have separate accounts and they talk about it. Like they have one acct for one niche, and another for another... so I guess it's not "illegal", but Ive seen them close ppl down. I guess it was just for something they said on the forum. Has the OP been banned yet? If it's not GM, I think they'll be banned soon. Im sorry this is so boring. NEW GIRL'S on! Yea!
Yeah, boring thread. Yeah for NEW GIRL!
Im sure the thread's fine, I'm the boring one. I love this show so much. Have you ever seen it?
No, it is not me, gmwilliams, Another person has used my username, gmwilliams. I am in the process of reporting them to Team@HubPages.
Why am I so tremendously gifted at troll recognition and gifted in virtually nothing else?
Gifted? Really? Amazing! I would have never known that was a troll by the default image avatar, lack of hubs/activity, or that whoever it was just joined less than a day ago. I bet you are good at plenty of other things! No self-respecting sock puppet would show up without a face.
Say hi to pshychoskinner for me!
Bwahahahahahahahaha! Sure you did. Just keep on believing that he didn't give it away so that even a naive, gullible, alluring, foxy babe couldn't miss it.
You did not give it to me, I *am troll-gifted. Why can't you just let me have this? It's like my own personal bionic... my mutant gene.
Not everyone can point out a troll. I do believe she is gifted with uncanny sight. If not for Beth, the OP would have caused further problems.
I have several alter egos, Queen of Darkness and Lady of Mystery. I am fascinated with the dark and the mysterious side of life, love horror movies and the macabre. As we are speaking, I am watching A Haunting on my dvd. Well kind ladies adieu and have a LOVELY and BLESSED night. It is such a great pleasure to have your acquaintance, Beth37 and Phyllis.
What I should be doing is writing and revamping some hubs. I have 386 hubs, way short of my 500 hub goal. I had better stop galavanting in the forums for now and get cracking!
Im a pantywaist, to be honest with you. I don't like anything scary... I never watch horror, though I do like a good thriller.
Horror movies are so soothing and thrilling. I even fell asleep during watching THE EXORCIST. I could do that now. When THE EXORCIST first came out, I had to sleep with the lights on for a week. In addition to the movie, I also read the book.
Horror movies don't scare me a bit. However, I cannot watch movies on concentration camps before going to bed. One time I watched the movie PLAYING FOR TIME and I was up the entire night. The images flashed through my mind. I also read the book THE FIVE CHIMNEYS by Olga Lengyel and could not go to bed that night. There was one book I could not finish because it is beyond horrific, THE GULAG ARCHIPELAGO. No matter how hard I try, I cannot psychologically finish the book.
I can't watch too many concentration camp/Nazi movies either. The truth is, I can't tolerate human misery. I can't even watch the news. It breaks my heart and I end up crying. Then I usually end up sobbing something like, "You know I can't watch the news!" at my husband. He really should know better by now.
Well, you have a lot of wisdom -- all women do.
OMGosh ! What a hub that would be ! It would probably create a lot of opinions in the comments.
You are awesome, GM. I love the dark side, too. I have one hub that was so dark I had to un-publish it. Have a good evening. I am outta here. Goodnight Beth and GM. Pleasure chatting with you.
Good for you, gm. Thanks for coming on to let us know.
Yes, this person is indeed mocking me to make a point. I am reporting this to Team@HubPages as we speak. This is uncalled for. When I saw this, I was shocked.
Ok, Gm, let us know when you reported the offender... I want to time HPs. They're pretty fast.
I have already reported this and the "user" has been banned. I am also requesting that Team@HubPages close this thread to further reply! This behavior is totally uncalled for.
Thank you GM for getting on this so quickly.
My bad, the "person" signed on as gmwillams, not gmwilliams. Still unethical behavior is WRONG!
OMGosh ! I did not even notice that. But, yes it was unethical and very wrong, for the intent was obviously to make us believe it was you.
When I saw this thread, I was shocked. I NEVER posted this=what gives. When I saw this "thread", I had ENOUGH. I immediately reported the person and thread to Team@HubPages.
I was shocked also. Beth knew it was not you and so did I when I read her post and checked out the hubber score and profile. Some people have nothing else to do but cause problems for others. Glad you jumped in and reported it right away.
Maybe the posts you'd been making made you a bit of a target? The "Religious people are less intelligent than Atheists" thread hadn't been commented on for 5 mos. and you revived it just to call believers "close minded", "illogical" and one devout friend; "sad".
Didn't work too well - without an avatar at all, let alone the right one, a quick glance at the profile gave it all away. It didn't seem "right", either.
What an awkward thread. lol
I do feel bad for gm. I think it's a bit cowardly to hit someone this way instead of just telling them how you feel about a situation.
Interesting. I really can't imagine who would do it. The troll who did this to another hubber, about a week ago, chose a Christian to flambe, this time it was a non-believer... so either it is one very bored non-partisan, or it was two different ppl.
So you saw the other thread as well? It was very harsh.
I remember the person had also just signed on, had a score of 33, and no avatar, and used a hubber's name. I do not remember much of the thread. But, this is the same type of thing -- a troll who wants to come in and stir up trouble.
Oh no......... They are everywhere, not only in the forums but they come to the comment section of hubs, adding their remarks. I have seen it, not on my hubs but on other hubs. Thankfully, they do not post in the question/answer section. One who has signed on recently, harangued another hubber because the former disagreed with the hubber's comments. SOMETHING NEEDS to be INSTITUTED to prevent them from the inception.
I don't really understand what you're saying. Do you mean you have seen this same troll parodying others? Or that there are a lot of ppl who are just trolling in other venues?
No, there are people who troll hubs, leaving less than positive comments when they disagree with another hubber or with the hub author. I have seen this. A couple of years ago, there were trolls who posted a thread with the sole purpose of relentlessly attacking a long-time hubber of good standing. These trolls incessantly harassed her, spreading information which caused this long-time hubber to be banned from HubPages. The hubber was banned while they were not (to my knowledge). Trolling comes in myriad forms. Some are impersonations(new to me) while others are out to just do psychic harassment.
Yeah, Ive had my hubs trolled before. I think that's kind of a norm. This seems a lot more pointed.
Well, I wish you all a more peaceful night. I think Im ready to hit the sack. Take care.
When one posts in a hub comments, there is an IP address. We should have that on every post, everywhere.
That's a good idea. I wonder if it violates privacy or something like that.
I don't know. When I first noticed the IP address a few years ago I was upset b/c I did not want everyone to see my IP. In a way that is a violation of privacy, I think. That should not be shown to public, just to webmasters to scout out problems like this.
I am beginning to think the poster is not a troll... but, ... an ... ALIEN !
Huh, I just googled the thread that the troll started, mocking the Christian poster. Her last post was 9 days ago, the troll started the parody thread 8 days ago. It seems to me like she posted, then the next day, saw the trolls thread and the unkind remarks left on the thread and left. I don't think ppl realize how much being verbally beaten up by a group of peers hurts.
Ok, going to bed for real. Night.
Have a Blessed Night. Doesn't it remind YOU of MEAN GIRLS? This is mean behavior which is reminiscent of some junior high and high schoolers. This also reminds me of the cheerleaders in the movie, Romy and Michelle High School Reunion. The cheerleaders continuously harangued Romy and Michelle throughout high school. Check out Romy and Michelle High School Reunion and Mean Girls, this trolling behavior reminds me of this. Sadly, cyberbullying is quite prevalent these days, even from supposed adults.
Did anyone note that it is spelled
gmwillams? Missing the second "i"?
A technicality, I know, but...
AKA, the person has been banned. This trolling occurs all the time on HubPages Forums. There are "hubbers" who sign on without any hubs nor followers yet they post in the forums. They do this all the time. Yes, I was parodied but I have seen WORSE things happen in the forums. There should be a mandate that a hubber should have AT LEAST 50 FEATURED HUBS before being allowed to post in the forums or comment on hubs. AKA, there are "hubbers" without any hubs who comment on hubs, some leaving very nasty comments. Take care, AKA, and have a BLESSED NIGHT!
I totally agree that a" hubber should have AT LEAST 50 FEATURED HUBS before being allowed to post in the forums or comment on hubs." Other sites have similar policies and it really helps to keep spam and trolls from coming in and disrupting every thing.
Thank you Phyllis, couldn't have concurred with you more. If this ruling was mandated and established, there would be no trolls in the forums. If one have noticed the trolls who sign on have ZERO hubs, they sign on for the purpose of instigating havoc in the forums. I also written to Team@HubPages, suggesting this.
Goodnight gm - have a good night. Thanks for chatting with us, I enjoyed it.
Eeeek. I would surely be banned, if 50 were the set minimum!
I did used to have 50, but a few were suspended for minor breaches. Rather than fix them, I just deleted them.
I got busy, with life, and bored with writing hubs a while back, so, I just left it all idle. Not sure what rekindled my interest again, but we'll see. I do have a few topics for hubs floating around in the cyberspace of my mind.
BTW, thanks for the blessing, and good night to y'all too!

Why it is that some religionists become quite threatened when atheists, agnostics, & skepticspresent a different opinion/premise?
by Tessa Schlesinger 2 years ago
I have a question going. Two or three hubbers are a) not answering the questionb) harrassing me with accusations. What is the correct procedure for this. So far I have simply deleted the comments, but this gets tedious.

Why Do Religious People Get So Angry At Atheists? When it comes to Atheism, most religious people get angry and even combative when it comes to this subject. I wonder why, especially in this day and age, one would feel anger towards another human being with a different perception/outlook/belief....

What are the most annoying responses Christians give to questions atheists ask?I'm a christian and I think that it would be helpful in ministry, if Christians new a bit more about how atheists felt about a Christian's rebuttal
