Have you ever had a 'paranormal' experience?

By paranormal, I mean anything from seeing or hearing ghosts, experiencing psychic phenomena, UFO sightings, encounters with strange creatures, or even just excessive cases of deja-vu. If it's beyond

I have a lot of Deja-vu experiences.  I'll be in a situation and I know exactly what the next sequence of events would be.  Weird.....

Also, I always have someone tap me on the shoulder.  I look back and no ones there. I start to think I must be going cuckoo.  So weird...

Yes, many paranormal experiences of all kinds. These experiences are quite common on the reservation. In fact, our healing methods include them. I have always thought that these sorts of things are really just natural, but the prevalent society and cultural norms deny this. I hope one day science will be able to take away the negative connotations related to the paranormal.  I've written many articles about the paranormal which occurs naturally in my Native American culture. They are posted on my website in the Blog section. http://www.NativeTalismanArt.com

I had an experience when my wife was pregnant with our first child.  We were staying at my in-laws house and our cat was acting very strangely.  He was just staring at us, but it wasn't "him".  I just kept watching him and he finally came up to both of us and "snuggled" us (which he never once did with my wife) and then he ran out of the room.  Later that night my mother-in-law informed us that my wife's late father was in the room with us earlier and wanted us to know that everything was okay with the baby and he didn't know how to get our attention.

Once I was doing an english project on epitaphs - not my idea. I borrowed my grandfather's camera that instantly develops pics. (This was in the 70's). So, I am walking around the cemetary taking pics of tombstones, right?  I know this sounds unbelievable - but I had nearly collected all that I needed and I was back to where I left the car, when I thought I would take one more picture of a double stone.  I snapped the picture, and laid it on the top of the stone, and walked over to another one and was reading it, when I glanced back at the picture on the stone to see if it was developing alright.  The picture looked good, however, something else was beginning to show.  It appeared to be a small man, about three feet tall if he had been standing.  He was sitting, rather perched, upon the double tombstone, and he was smiling and holding one had up, as if waving.  His face, or what I could see of it, looked kind of mean and his ears were pointed.  I turned the pic in with my english project and the teacher commented that it must have been an image that bled over from another picture.  I knew that was not the case......

All of my life, since I can remember.  I grew up thinking it was normal, and didn't realize I was fairly rare until I started school.  The list is too long to go into here.

All my life I have had them. Ghosts tap me on the shoulder, shadow people pass by or loom over me. The deja vu is the worst. Sometimes my basement smells like cigar smoke and neither I nor my husband smoke. I have seen a lot of strange entities during out of body experiences and astral projections, including what look like the kind of beings that abductees often describe when they remember their abductions. Sometimes when I look into different peoples' eyes, I see images of them in another place and time, far removed from here.

I find that the reason it seems so odd is that we've been indoctrinated by society and by various religions to think that these activities are strange and unusual, when in fact they are very natural occurrences and some people are more receptive than others.

I've had several "paranormal" experiences in my life. For a great part of my child hood I grew up in a house that was 300 years old. In the Celtic part of Germany. The thing that facinates me is the cultural differences in the acceptance of these types of occurances. I come from a multi-cultural family (Eskimo, American Indian Scot and Irish) and have traveled a great deal, what I have personally noticed is the older the culture the more accepting it is of these types of experiences.

I myself believe that I witnessed this strange phenomenon.

One night in the middle somewhere, I awoke and before me was a white figure, no facial outlines, I can remember feeling the outlines but not seeing them, there was no arms or legs but again I sensed them being there, really like an outline of a human. So here I am in what we call a catch 22 situation
I now know 100% that there is a spiritual world out there. I of course realised it could have been a practical joke and thought my eyes were deceiving me so I through a pillow at it (?) and from white to black in that instant got me wondering.

Paranormal experiences are things that have always really interested me but I wasnt too sure if i believed them until the other day..
It was new years eve and I was sharing a bed with my best friend at her house. Her mum had just had some sort of reading and had been informed that the house had two spirits a dog and an elderly woman. Her mother had said she had felt a spirit on her legs whilst laying in bed at night. her mothers boyfriend has said ever since he was a child there had been something there that he had felt to uncomfortable to talk about.
Anyway we were laying in bed both perfectly happy and just a bit tired. Then I heard someone call my friends name, not loud but just as if they were speaking out loud. I said babe i think your mum just called you, she said no she didnt. I thought ah i probably just imagined it. Neither of us thought anymore about it really. Then about ten minutes later she tensed up and said megs megs its on my legs its sitting on my f*/@ing legs. She was really panicing and then withdrew her legs and sort of tucked them into me and we both cuddled as we were scared. we decided to start talking straight away as the silence would scare us so we started talking about how good the night had been and then we both started to talk very quietly we felt something very cold laying between us we were both squeezing eachother so hard. we lay there for about twenty minutes unable to talk we were both petrified. then it just went and she said to me " i think we should sleep" so we tried both cuddled up to eachother at this point i did not know what the spirits were. my friend fell asleep i couldnt because all i could hear was padding everywhere. i have never been so scared then she woke up and thats when the strangest thing happened to the pipes in her room started to make this funny boiling light screeching noise something neither of us had heard before. lets put it this way neither of us slept until the sun come up and then we went in her mums room. i know some people may think this is all rubbish but i have never been so scared i knew what i felt and the thing that makes it more real is that me and my friend recollect exactly the same thing

yes, this happened in an old house in Ilocos, a province in Northern Luzon, Philippines. It happened to me and to my 2 kids. We felt a strange presence, a bit malevolent, and all at the same time, we felt chest pains, and we had to leave in order to be rid of the feeling. It was rather strange because it happened to us 3 all at the same time.

Have you ever heard the cliche "life is just a dream"..or "sleep is the cousin of death"...I'll tell you the truth. Every second of every minute of everyday of your life you have already dreamed before hand. Even the moment you read this.  Deja Vu is your subconscious mind and your conscious remembering the dream at the same time.  Usually your subconscious and conscious are unaware of each other.  You know that light headed feeling you get when you have Deja Vu?  That's your subconscious mind coming forward and melding momentarily with your conscious mind.  Of course at some point it recedes and you can't remember the rest of the "dream." You have dreamed life ahead of time already and yes your death as well. You already know how your life will play out. It's part of the reason "Buddhist" say that everything that happens to you is chosen by you; both good and bad. To die is to awaken.

I've had plenty of unexplained encounters with the paranormal, but from these experiences have stemmed some very creative moments.

I have encountered many spirits in my life. Some were nice to be around...others not so much. I have visions, or what some consider second sight. I was taught to believe that there was no such thing as ghosts. But the ghosts had other plans for me. I believe.

Absolutely! Plus, I've had the kind you don't see investigated on television shows, demons and angels. Do they exist? If you watch all the crap on TV you wouldn't think so. All they want to find are ghosts of dead people. Boring....

I have had experiences where I have a dream of something and then it actually happened like a week later.  I have feelings of someone watching me constantly.  Sometimes I'm so afraid I don't sleep for days.

I believe paranormal (ghost) activity exists.  We all want to believe our loved ones are in a better spiritual place, and not worm food.  Sometimes a person has to drop scientific thought and have faith that these things can actually happen.
At a dinner with a friend's parents we actually watched a cup fly across the room.  We were all in the dining room.  There was no explanation for this cup to fly 10 feet from the living room, into the dining room with us. It was very obvious to all for of us who watched this happen, that someone or something wanted our attention.

I have actually had a number of paranormal experiences and too many cases of deja-vu to count. I probably have deja-vu about twice a month.

Here is a story about my moms own paranormal phenomena.

Her bedroom and her parents bedroom was on the top floor of the house. One night, she got up to get a glass of water, and heard her mom downstairs. She yelled "Hey mom, bring me a glass of water". My mamaw replied with, "Donna, I'm in the bed." At that moment, my mom looked down the stairs and seen a woman in a black dress cross into the next room. She ran into her bedroom and hid under the covers.

My grandparents also had experiences with this ghost. They would often smell her perfume.

If you want to hear more I wrote my own story in a hub...

I have had MANY paranormal experiences! From childhood on. Two of these events were outside of the :ghost, orb haunting etc. I saw an unexplainable object appear and disappear, like a ball of intense light in the sky, during an army airshow 2 or 3 years ago, about that time.
