If you see the sun and birds, you must believe the Quran too. There is no difference between the Quran and the universe. Because all is from the same spring. The Quran is last chance before all humanity.
Hmmmm. Hi Deborah.
Christianity and Islam have most things in common when it comes to "converting by the sword."
Get a good book on the history of the Christian church.
While some radical elements of Islam still practice those things Christianity today under the veil of civilization uses its military to try and accomplish its religious aims.
Point of fact is that both religions contain radical elements who would rather conquer and force their religion on you than convert you peaceably according to Jesus's way.
The United States and other countries conquered and forced their religion on the indigenous people who lived there.
Most Blacks in America are Christians because their slave masters were Christians and forced their religion on these black people under the duress of slavery.
This is not a question. The "infidels" have always tried to harm Muslims. Everyone has enemies. The Qur'an teaches us to defend ourselves, but there are also rules that govern warfare.
Deborah Sexton says "teaches you it's OK to kill your enemies" No. It teaches us to protect ourselves.
Islam does not allow the killing of innocent human beings(Quran 5:32-On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.) and never so for converting anyone.(Quran Surah taubah 9:5 But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
If one amongst the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure. That is because they are men without knowledge.)
Quran is clear as to who are the enemies, those who stand to fight and prevent a Muslim from practicing his faith.Fighting any and every non-muslim is forbidden in Islam and there is no complusion in religion(Surah 2:256-Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: )The media monopolizes the masses to think as they want...Has'nt the US led wars in enough countries(Iraq,Afghanistan) to be classified as 'terrorist' reference-http://islam.challengeyoursoul.com/quran/index.php?
I don't believe in the Quran because...
1) I don't believe in any book which purports to be the word of any god, which is in fact written by humans.
Many people - mainly the silent, thinking, peaceful minority - share the same view as me. If anyone believes that..erm..allah..had anything to do with it, SHOW US THE EVIDENCE - the onus is on you people to do so, not on anyone who doesn't adhere to this creed.
2) Even if I chose to believe in such a book, the Quran would be an odd one for me to believe in. It's written in Arabic and seemingly no-one, even of its supposed scholars, can entirely agree on a plethora of things in it.
Why should I believe in an ancient, contradiction-ridden book about a god which was most likely to have been invented by an illiterate desert trader from the 6th century?
@unverm:
If I see the sun and birds, I must believe the Quran??
Err, no I don't. Again, I think you'd better argue your point more because it isn't self-evident. Also, the Quran was a book, I thought, whether divinely inspired or not. Man-made and the teensiest bit smaller than the universe at present?
So, it's part of the universe, yes, but not the same thing, no?
The Quran is the last chance, eh? So allah's patience has run out, has it? Or can't he get another prophet together? Or even appear him/her/itself?
@Joel:
Sounds like America - the USA I think you mean - is pretty important to you (use of 'we' etc.) I wouldn't have such blind faith in this either. USA doesn't always help those countries in need - not really doing a lot with Mugabe, eh? Didn't really stop the Chinese swallowing Tibet, eh? - and often sides with the aggressor or even does the aggressing itself.
It has tended to walk into Central America whenever it feels like it, has done everything possible to choke Cuba - and has still failed - and gets involved in all sorts of projects ostensibly to control oil, sell arms and generally colonise.
I have no particular patriotism myself and there have been worse prime nations in the world than the US, but it'd be remiss if the simplistic view expressed remained unchallenged.
1. I have not found a Muslim that will answer why the Qur'an uses "We" when talking about God in most places.
2. There are answers to the "Where does Jesus state that "I am God/ worship Me" questions.
3. The Chicken came before the egg.
4. If the Qur'an has not been changed, why is it 95.4% accurate and not 100%??
To answer this question we should first pass by the question of : do we believe in god ?
--- if yes , then we say : god have sent messengers , some of them with books , the last one before Quran is the Bible . The Quran confirmed that all celestial relegions , including christianity , came with the same case " worshiping God only " , so , by believing in a book of God we believe in the last book of HIM ...
---- If no , our mind should take the onus then ; the universe is a logical systeme made of logical systemes...if we think with logic : Every logical systeme need someone from outside the systeme to controle it . If we think with science then it s easy ; it s so absurd to believe that a sophisticated systeme had been made just by coincidence and irony !! comme on people !
Yeah, great explanation. Just start reading this https://koran.nl/ and check the prayertimes overhere: https://koran.nl/gebedstijden/
Islam is the largest and fastest growing faith in the world. The word “Islam” is an Arabic word that means “peace, purity, submission, and obedience to the will of Almighty God”. The word Islam comes from the Arabic root word “sa-la-ma”, which means peace.

I think nonbelievers is the fastest growing group in the world.
I respect, accept and support religious beliefs and non believers too.
I don't accept and support bully centralist greed. ,,
....and mandates of anykind
Interesting discussion. I can only add to it by quoting these powerful words of Bahá’u’lláh:
“Religious fanaticism and hatred are a world-devouring fire, whose violence none can quench. The Hand of Divine power can, alone, deliver mankind from this desolating affliction....
“The utterance of God is a lamp, whose light is these words: Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch. Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship. He Who is the Day Star of Truth beareth Me witness! So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth. The one true God, He Who knoweth all things, Himself testifieth to the truth of these words.” (Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, #CXXXII)
“O ye children of men! The fundamental purpose animating the Faith of God and His Religion is to safeguard the interests and promote the unity of the human race, and to foster the spirit of love and fellowship amongst men. Suffer it not to become a source of dissension and discord, of hate and enmity. This is the straight Path, the fixed and immovable foundation. Whatsoever is raised on this foundation, the changes and chances of the world can never impair its strength, nor will the revolution of countless centuries undermine its structure.” (Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, #CX)
When someone's mentality is messed up, it's pointless to wonder why they join this or that religious denomination -- for they will just pervert everything in religious teachings to find excuses for their irrational reasoning. So it's totally useless to blame this or that religion -- it's what some people make of it.
Also, humans are not evolved enough to follow any of those teachings, in particular the one about "unconditional love". We can suppress our hate and intolerance in the name of our beliefs, but that doesn't define it as "unconditional love". A snake doesn't "save your life" by not biting you.
In terms of the top sciences of the day, since the most of the global populace are religious, and the main tenet of each religion is to love unconditionally -- if we REALLY followed that, this planet would be like a Shangri La, and people would be happy and healthy and coexist in a harmony like some avatars.
That's what science says about the incredibly positive effects of maintaining such elevated, altruistic, happy emotions for which we are not wired in our brains -- yet..
So, again, let's forget why we don't believe in this or that religion, it's not the religion, it's us, who are messing up our coexistence.
Best way to change something. Is look into the mirror, be honest, and change yourself.

Who is Imam Mahdi, and what is his/her's significance with Jesus Christ and Christianity? Is Islam and Christianity closely related, more than what Christians are taught to believe? I'm just curious as to how Muslims view Christians, and Jesus Christ. They must think Christ was a...

Why are atheists so brave when questioning Christianity, but crap themselves when it comes to Islam? The 'art' of 'Piss Christ' and the 'hate crime' of disrespecting a Koran? Are theists just bullies who pick on those who keep quiet but cower and suck up to those who won't put up with it?
