   I believe in God as He is defined in the Bible, but my perception of Him is much different than your description!  He is my Creator and Father.  He sent His son, who is my Redeemer and Healer.  He loves me in much the same way I love my children.  He gently corrects, but sometimes has to be a little stronger to get my attention.  He is only vengeful to those who aren't His.  But insecure?  Not hardly.  He is equal to none, so security is not even an issue.

   Yes and No. The old testament seems to maybe portray God as a vengful God but not insecure or personable. The new testament portrays God as a loving caring God one who si willing to heal body,mind,  spirit, and soul and has defeated death and erased sin.

   God is not vengeful not in the Bible, Quran or any other religious scripture.  The thing that people take out of context is the punishment that is stated for disobedience.  In life if you don't pay your taxes your own governments can imprison you for tax evasion.  You can be put to death by the government for certain crimes, and yet we say why is God so vengeful, why shouldn't He be after all He has Created you and if you disobey then you should be punished, much like if you disobey your boss you will most likely lose your job

   a God thats loves you only when you "please him" (thus being personable because no real powerful God would need you to please him) is a God based on conditional love.  Not UNconditional love, which is what God really is.  He will love only on those conditions...that isn't a God who is secure and confident in his creations...the real God knows that life is a learning experience for everyone and he doesn't have to make rules for people to follow and punish those who do not because everyone is perfect in their own way, the way they are
   people fear the unknown and what "could" happen to them, and use that to justify a God who punishes the disobeyers...
