What is the objective criteria used to discern who is the Antichrist ?
Just off the top of my head...
Look for a world leader such as a Pope or a Charismatic President form Europe. This person will be assassinated, then Satan will enter their body and miraculously return to life and begin to take over the world by solving all the worlds problems. People will look to him as a god. He will take over the world. For the first 3 -1/2 years it will be wonderful, then the next 3-1/2 years he will turn into a rotten uh... devil. He will have anyone who opposes him killed, and he will want to have a mark placed "in" your hand or forehead. The word "in" could mean anything from a micro-chip, RFID tag or tattoo, however, scripture tells us the mark is 666, I would think we would see it openly, but maybe not. Do a google search on the word Triqueta - it is also a 666 woven together. A lot of churches use it as a sign of the Trinity, but only because they do not know it makes a 666. Many references refer to it as a 3-leafed celtic knot. Its basically 3 circles looped together to form a 3 peddled flower in the middle. This flower also makes 3 six's woven together. The point is - that could be the mark too - the devil would love that because its not so obvious and he wants to be like the most high - to appear as an angel of light. If the churches already use his 666 out of ignorance - the more easier to slip in and fool them even more.
Good question!
P.S. The Bible also says anyone who is against Jesus Christ or disbelieves in Him - is an anti-Christ. The word Anti-Christ is often viewed negatively, but I think the Bible means in the context as if you said, well he was tall or short... etc. It's not a negative comment - its just a fact - though the connotation may be negative.

If you read the epistles of John you will find that he is talking about people that were around when he was. So your question shouldn't read 'who is' but 'who were'.
Read my hubs for more on this subject.
The terms "objective criteria" and "antichrist" should probably not appear in the same sentence. I implies that the "antichrist" concept has an objective, scientific basis.
I'm OK with aggressive atheism in answers but not when attacking the questioner. Why can't the atheist answer what they think without dragging other people in it?
Hwo about the term "Arch Fiend" because the road to Hell is paved with good intentions? Didn't Nostradamus predict the antichrist would wear a blue hat like those baby blue UN helmets?
Obama didn't start the war in Libya - it's UN Security Council sanctioned action.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
UN "peacekeepers" or planetary police, "We're from the government and we are here to help you" (NOT!)
Ironically it is a blend of revelation and Nostradamus more often then not.
Jesus gave two important teachings that can help anyone know if a pretender of goodness is actually the antichrist.
1. A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.
In Mark 3:23-26 Jesus tells people:
…23And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan? 24"If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25"If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26"If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!…
Thus at the end an evil person cannot do good, he/she can pretend but by Jesus teaching if we examine people's actions against the yardstick of Jesus' call for loving one's enemies, praying for those who persecute us, blessing those who curse us we can ascertain if a person is or not pretending to be good. Satan cannot be humble no matter how hard he might try to disguise himself.
2. By the fruits. Jesus said in Matthew 7:15-17 Jesus teach his disciples that: 15"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16"You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17"So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.…
This second statement parallels the first one.
In conclusion: hate, resentment, arrogance, jealousy, cannot disguise as love, humbleness, service to those who practice the Christian values.

In a case of demonic possesion what is it that the possesor is trying to acheive, and why? Is the objective to have a romp in human form, to make people aware, to be a terrorist of sorts, or something else?
