It's just not as important to some people as to others.

The Bible is God's Word. For the believer, it is daily sustenance. It is set aside by unbelievers who don't want to be confronted with the knowledge of their sin. To acknowledge and repent of one's sin would mean submitting to the authority of the Creator God. No one wants to submit to that authority.

The book of Moses was never written by Moses. Because it accounts events after his death. Similarly historians will tell each of the four Gospel approved by the Church is not written by the authors mentioned.

For example the "The Gospel according to Mathew" is not written by Mathew. Actually the writers of these Gospels an many of the old testaments books are obscure persons according to historians.

So actually it is correct to say that the first sentence of each Gospel is actually a lie. Church and other Christian authorities will claim that the Bible is the Word of God, from which the claim they have the authority to stand between the masses an God. They have a vested interest here. It is true that some of the information contained in the Bible was inspired by God. However, imperfect man  wrote their inspirations through the filter of their narrow mind. Even when truths are expressed the words it is not accurate and even false. Some messages were lost during translation.

For example today if the TV news media report a publicly held political event. CNN will state what has happened with some implications, while FOX news is likely to  report this with a Republican viewpoint and downgrade the Democrats. If you don't believe me watch it for yourself. Yet both groups saw and witnessed the same event..

This is why the all knowing God prefers not to use words to communicate with man. Words are imperfect and cannot fully communicate God's message.  It restricts God. God communicates with everyone including animals directly everyday. God can use anything in front of you to communicate his message and inspire you. It could be piece or art, a painting, a play, a feeling,  a dream, an experience, or even your imagination.  However, not all from these sources are from God.  Therefore, I do not depend on the bible only for God's inspiration. I know he has even used Mopy Dick to communicate a particular message to some. If we confine God only to the imperfect bible we will not hear him..

That's what we humans tend to do. We read anything that's not important, yet we don't read the most important book ever written.
