I don't know why people are obsessed with this virgin business, there are a lot more things which are more appealing than a woman, in paradise.

just to correct your statement the number is not 1000 ... it's 72.

chapter 3 verse 195 Translation: Mufti Taqi Usmani.

So, their Lord answered their prayer: " I do not allow the labour of any worker from among you, male or female, to go to waste. You are similar to one another...."

In the commentary to this verse Mufti Taqi Usmani writes...

"This means that all human beings are treated by Allah Ta'ala equally, and that everyone will be awarded or punished according to his or her deeds. No one will be discriminated against on the basis of his sex, race or financial or social status."

from this i can say women will get equal to what men will get.

@Dave Mathews - if we have some fanatics that exploit and brainwash children then you have fanatics who sexually abuse children while being pure in the eyes of the world. Your religion teaches you to respect other religions not to mock everyone but your own.

This is a fiction. There is no number given in the Qur'an.

It is not true, angelriding...! If a muslim pass away (and all human will do), he will pass three dimension; barzach, achirat (the  judgement day), and hell / heaven dimension.
Barzach is the dimension where he will be after his death in the grave; if he is a good Muslim -- a religious one,  he will be let be here in peace until achirat dimension, else he will be tortured by Malaikat Munkar and Naqir, the angels whose specialization for this matter.
In achirat, everybody will be put into the Almighty's court to judge whether they are proper to stay/live in the hell or in the heaven. The good Muslims will be guided into the heaven, and the rest have to stay in the hell for some period of time. So, not all MUslim will be in heaven. Even, many Muslim will drop by the hell before being permitted to get into Allah's Paradise.
Nothing will be got by the one who are thrown into the hell but torture.
Those ones who live in the Paradise will live in happiness for good. Every occupant of the paradise will get "wealth" as large as the earth and the sky. And it is not impossible for we all know, the earth is only a spot in this universe. All Muslims (no matter male or female) will not be distinguished in blessing; they will get anything they want ... anything. And all peaces in the heaven are beyond our vision, and our imagination; hard to believe. Every Muslim knows it.

Hi Angel. Being a woman you have asked quite a relevant querry . Principally I can say that Allah has promised His servants, male or female, of equal rewards for their deeds, absolutely no discriminations. Those who will be admitted in heaven they get what they have been promised with. In sayings of Prophet Muhammad pbuh bestowing of wives for men has been mentioned as you too have pointed out, the strength may differ but there will be plenty of wives thats for sure. For woman nothing sort of this has been mentioned, reason being woman's nature as she is shy and her beauty lies in her modesty & chastity. Suppose, if it had been described for a woman too, dont you think it would have been against the nature and dignity of woman? She is bound to get in heaven whatever she desires ( The Quran Ch 41 Verse 31). More over, showering with gifts and blessings means fulfillment of what a person lacks, a king distributes prizes and gifts to persons other than his family members, because for them is the entire treasure of the king. There is no explicit description about a woman what she gets in heaven it is probably due to her ownership of heaven as prophet Muhammad pbuh says that the heaven lies beneath the feet of your mother, here mother means womanhood. If she happens to be the owner of heaven then there is no need of explicit mentioning of the blessings.

There is no mention of 1000 virgins in Quran, the first and the foremost source of guidance of Islam/Quran/Muhammad.
Men and woman are fairly equal and  would be equal in the hereafter also. Please
    Regards

There will be no genders as male and or female in the heaven.Genders are here in this world for the co-existence of the humans as a race.
In heaven every person will have a lasting life, so no off-springs are needed hence no males or females.
      Regards

    This is pretty simple Angelriding.

Imagine all these women being granted to your husband, and you will be superior over them all. Isn't that alone some kind of a blessing for Muslim women?

    Jazakallah Khairan

islam needs chasitaty  (honest or virteus)  to a woman to her husband ... so it preserved its rule same in this world and the world after death / or haven. She must live with her husband only.
Once a time some women calls Amama Aboo Hanifa.. Why a women can,t married more then one man... as .. men in islam do..  He little bit worried and says, he will answer this question in a few days and came back home. Imam,s daughter asked him , the reason of his saidness. The Imam told her the whole story. She said i will take answer those women. Next day She called all the women in a separate room and asked them to pure their milk in one  glass/jar etc.when they pured their milk, then she said now separate your own milk. No women can do this. She replied that..if a woman has more then one husband, she did not know the real name of her father,s child...
