Outside of floating about with loved ones, how do you think you'll occupy your time in an afterlife?
Most believers would say that they're looking forward to going to meet their creator, hooking up again with those already dearly departed. But what will the next world, the hereafter, the afterworld, eternity, kingdom come; immortality, BE exactly? Surely not if, as they say, we leave our humanly impediment on Earth, anything like we've ever known. But BESIDES family, what kind of environment do you think you can expect? Can you describe a daily 'life' as it were. What kind of things do you think we'll spend an eternity doing?
I have not the remotest idea as I really have no idea wha the afterlife will be like. As Thoreau once said, "one life at a time."
I honestly don't think anything happens to us when we die. We just die; but I think most people can't come to grips with that fact.
So Preacher2003, thank you, but true to your name, your answer was more of a personal preach and doesn't really answer what I asked at all I'm afraid; everything you said entirely vague; left to interpretation. Also, I wasn't looking to mention specific religions or gods here, and certainly not opinions on what will happen to people who don't happen to believe in a particular faith, that's a can of worms I'd rather we avoided here given the worldwide audience. (Although any descriptions from anyone who believes in what is commonly known as a 'hell' would answer the question adequately too I guess, and I would be interested in those DESCRIPTIONS as well.)
I did however, suggest that most would EXPECT to see their loved ones and creator in an afterlife and wanted to exclude that in favour of answers about the ENVIRONMENT that one might imagine the afterlife has, and the kind of ACTIVITIES we might expect to be doing for an eternity.
Help me understand what you DID allude to though because I'm genuinely interested in what people expect, envision, as all I ever hear is that one goes to their utopia when they die, but not what it might ACTUALLY be LIKE there; it's all very VAGUE, I feel, which is why I asked this question.
Is that ALL that we'll do for an eternity, in your opinion? SEE each other? Praise our creator? What would MAKE that so PEACEFUL, so JOYFUL for every second of eternity?
What do you mean by THINGS WOULD BE PLUSH - what KIND of THINGS and HOW SO would they be plush? Material things? Regardless though, where would those things COME from? Do you have a vision of this in your own mind, whether derived from the scriptures you talk about or not?
Also by COMMERCE, are you suggesting that we will spend an eternity simply socialising? What will we be talking about? Or maybe by that you meant trading... or BOTH perhaps? Trading what? And why OUTSIDE of the city? WHAT city? And what is ACTUALLY outside of that city (and what will that city be MADE of anyway? How would it have been constructed? And if not constructed, what exactly will it be comprised of, do you think?)
Thank you also Juneaukid and Old Empresario - no room left here to comment on your responses though.

For the very many years I was in Church attendance, the Kingdom of God was always equated with Heaven. It was a future event that only those who believed in Jesus would see either when they died or were raptured, whilst the remainder of humanity would go to hell. A Christian could be disqualified...
