Why doesn't the Genesis writer mention creation of Dinosaurs?

The creation narrative in The Genesis clearly looks to be a fruit of fertile imagination. For one thing there was no one to record the events of creation when it happened. Another reason why the narrative proves to be just imaginative is because Adam and Eve have just two sons and they go out in the world and take wives for themselves. From where did these wives come?

There are many who would tell you that it does, but names were changed to common animals so the the gentiles could understand. Who really knows, but it does bring up the point of confusion during translation in general.

The following is a portion of a response to your question. It was too long and turned into a hub. I dedicated the hub to you. Let me know if you are okay with that. It is entitled Vegas Elias' "Why doesn't the Genesis writer mention creation of Dinosaurs?"

"I believe that Adam and Eve were not God's first human-like creations. I believe that the Bible states that they were made in his image because their predecessors were not. There is evidence " Then God said let Us make man in Our image" Gen 1:26 "So God created man in his image...God created man in his own image..in his image he created them both male and female" Gen 1:27 This takes place on the 6th day.

Then the scriptures go further by stating that this is the history of the heavens, Gen 2:4. Now in Genesis 2:7 "God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life". Then in Genesis 2:18 "God said it is not good for man to be alone; I will create him a helper comparable to him. Adam and Eve were created o the sixth day and the history of creation closed and God rested on the 7th day. However everyone pretty much agrees that the bible is a timeline of events from the beginning to current times .i.e Genesis to Revelations. It does not mention dinosaurs or cave men, yet we have evidence that they existed.

    The fall of Satan is..."

Well the Biblical Genesis writer plagiarized his work from others who had plagiarized from the Sumerians. I suspect the original Sumerian writer didn't know what a dinosaur was when he made up that story.

I'd say it doesn't mention dinosaurs because there isn't time or space to mention everything. It doesn't mention lemurs either...

it's not for lack of space - it's for lack of knowledge - in the case of lemurs [and polar bears], they're too far away in distasnce; in the csse of dinosaurs, they're too far away in time - no one in those times knew about dinosaurs

Time will reveal all truths. Some of those truths will wash away the lie that is religion. Religion was created by and for a certain people. That is why it was reinvented later by the Romans (Paul) to include some more people. In modern times (NE) it is further rewritten and used as a tool to manipulate all peoples.

It doesn't mention the Dinosaurs because in those days some cultures were more focused on philosophy than reality. There were only select groups of people who pursued a higher understanding of nature and the universe. Most other people were focused on the day to day rituals of farming, gathering food, and survival.

genesis didnt mention them because at that time, NO ONE in the world knew about dinosaurs.  genesis is a combination of several oral traditions, and isn't itself internally consistent, so it's not surprising they knew nothing about prehistoric times, geology, physics, etc, etc

it's sort of like wondering why Romeo and Juliet didnt text each other

Ge:6:4: There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

God did NOT create dinosaurs, the ones who fell from heavens did. They took physical form and had sex with women of the earth baring children known as the nephillim (may be spelled wrong) and from there, messed with the animals, which is why dinosaurs had such little brains, were huge, destructive creatures and looked like a bunch of animals merged into one, but mainly "reptile" or "dragon".

you obviously know little about dinosaurs - they came in a range of sizes, and some were the smartest creatures then on the planet.  not to mention, of course, that most dinosaurs were extinct millions of years before humans evolved

I have never discounted the intelligence of dinosaurs. As a matter of fact, thier intelligence is not an issue. As for the amount of time that lapsed from man to dinosaur no one knows how God measured or judged time

god's calculations are irrelvant - the scienbtific FACT is that dinosaurs went extinct over 65 MILLIOPN years ago.  the bible stgories, written over 65 million years later were told by nomads who were ignorant of almost all of modern science

Genesis 1:21, "God created THE GREAT SEA MONSTERS (my emphasis) and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind..."  This covers Nessie and other sea going reptilians.  Gen. 1:25, "God made THE BEASTS OF THE EARTH (dinosaurs covered here) after their kind..."  Look to the Book of Job for a description of Dinosaurs under "behemoth" and Dragons under "Leviathan" is my suggestion...Job 40:15-41:34.
Genesis 4 mentions 3 sons...Cain, Abel, Seth.  Gen. 5:3 says, "When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth. Then the days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he had OTHER SONS AND DAUGHTERS.
So, you say, they had sex with their sisters?  Yep...had to in order to get the species generated; after all, they had already fallen under the curse, so they would have to look forward to a Savior.  Incest was disallowed much later...after the Flood and it all had to be started up again.  They came under the need of a Savior in Christ, too.
