What does the old testament teach us about Jesus Christ?
The Jews and the Christians share the old testament but what does the old testament teach us about Jesus Christ? What are the similarities between Christians and Jews.
Jesus was a son born in the house of David. As such he was to be a leader, a teacher, and he fulfilled his role. Jesus was a teacher and prophetic. He told us that some people interpret the writings of the Holy Book differently that he did. God, our Father in heaven, is a loving God. Some do not understand this concept and teach about the torment and punishment of God instead of the love. Despite our failings, our weaknesses, we have a Divine soul ready to lead us through whatever challenge life brings. God is mighty; distinguished; great; exalted; glorious; faithful; faultless; righteous; pure; and powerful. Jesus is the son of God just as we are sons and daughters of God. Let us be a blessing to God sing the praises with Psalms that are recited in our services to remember and praise Him who gives us so much. Rosh Hashanah, New Years, is an annual ceremony where God forgives individuals of all their sins after they have repented. During Yom Kippur the fateful pray and fast, unless fasting is prohibited for medical reasons. Abstinence and fasting is designed to ensure one's attention is completely and absolutely focused on the quest for atonement with God. They write their sins on rice paper and wash their sins away in the water of atonement. God is a merciful God who forgives. Both Christians and Jews believe in the forgiveness of God, however we differ on who God is.
If Jesus was only a prophet and a teacher, he was a liar and a false prophet. He claimed to be THE WAY to God and to be the Son of God. Jesus is either God or a liar. The forgiveness of sins is only through the shedding of blood (OT & NT).
Jesus had a different idea about what the old testament stated and how people acted. He said he was the son of God like you are. Religions tell tales. Personally I think Jesus was a great addition to David's Tribe. You ought to too.
Claiming to be the way and being the son of God does not make him God. I am my fathers son, I can show you the way to his house. I am not my father.
That's just what Jesus said. He can show the way. He never stated he was God in fact he stated he was not God frequently to anyone who would listen.
Most simply, Jews, Christians, (and Muslims), believe in the same one Creator God.
Historically, Jesus was Jewish, as was his mother, as were all of his followers during his lifetime, and most of the people he spoke to, healed, and taught.
We are all children of one Loving God, and Jesus, when he taught us to pray to "our Father," (Jesus' Father is our Father, as well), (Matthew 6:9), he was speaking of the God of Abraham and Moses.
The Covenant of the Last Supper is a renewal and deepening of the Covenant of Mt. Sinai.
If Christians are God's chosen, we are adopted into God's original family, the Jewish people. Rather, I think, those who choose God and goodliness, of any faith or religion, live the Truth of being Gods children
This is too big a question for a short answer, but my answer is that the OT points to the coming Messiah...I've heard it's 750 passages...and the NT, especially Matthew's gospel, points to Jesus AS the Messiah.
The old testament does NOT mention Jesus. It does speak of a coming messiah. Christ is not the last name of Jesus. Jesus of Nazareth, some believe, fullfilled the prophacy of the old testament concerning the messiah.
The Old Testament doesn't teach anything about Jesus, because he didn't exist in that time-period.
(although I've known individuals who have the POV that Jesus Christ was actually the Creator).
Re: sharing the OT- not always- there are plenty of Christians who only use the New Testament.
Apart from some of Jesus' ancestors...not a whole lot ..It was written 500 years before Jesus by wealthy Jews in captivity in Babylon (under Nebuchadnezzar). with a military and nationalistic agenda. .....and the new Testament is the work
of the ROMAN Emperor Constantne..350 AD. A sample of true history and wisdom from a newly resurrected (Ancient) source follows from the
"Jesus is the most studied man in history, yet his true name is a mystery for most people. In the past, this was due to the deliberate destruction of documents by the Roman and Islamic Empires to hide the truth. Today, the Vatican still hides its documents about Jesus’ true history, his marriage to Mary Magdalene, Jesus’ ancient wisdom and his secret teachings."....also....
The new True Jesus website gives people around the world access to Jesus’ true wisdom, (from actual family documents, hidden for 2,000 years and kept secret until recently), by descendants of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.

I was in class today talking about culture and religion. A student from my class asked, "Do everyone need to know who is Jesus Christ?" Some people in my class don't believe in 'GOD'...therefore, I would like to know what you think.

What does the Quran say about Jesus and the claims that Christians make about Him?You see Christians say Jesus heals, saves, they see visions of Jesus, Jesus is the only way for us to be forgiven.. So why doesn't Islam teach what's true?

I've written a hub describing the effect Constantine and the pagans in the ecumenical counsels had on Christianity. I also read the writings of Justin Martyr where he tried to explain away the embarrassing extent to which Christianity copied Roman paganism by claiming that demons led the...
