Well, I guess I should explain a little more.
I once had a conversation with a Priest about the scriptures that were included in the bible. I asked him- "How do you know if the scriptures were properly translated/interpreted?"
His answer was "I have faith my boy". And, to be serious, I could see in his eyes that he was scared for my next question. And, he promptly told me to consult the scripture for guidance.
I found that odd. So, I dove in to religious history, used science to determine where mankind had evolve to(this was a must), learned about the history of mankind and of many different philosophical ideas.
This helped me to define life and come to an understanding that many never reached. It's a facsinating feeling of completely not believing in a "GOD" has done for my life.
With what I've learned, I made my own purpose in life and that's to spread the knowledge I've learned.
I don't claim to be a know-it-all, or a prophet or a 'god'. I am a human being who has gained a clarity on the true meaning of life.
The bottomline- the true meaning of life is for you to give meaning to your own life, become your own master, be your own god, live life for you, by using your consciousness of life and your conscience which guides your right and wrong morals.
Form honest thoughts and perform honest actions with those around you, and in your dealings. You are to value life. You are to protect life, yours and others.
Religion treats you like dirt, spits in your face, so you can be worthy to worship a 'god', that you were specifically told not to worship. It's the biggest scam on the planet.
You are NOT worthy of 'god's' love. Only in death are you worthy?
That doesn't sound like anything I would want to take part of. I'm glad I can see reality for what it is.
