What are Mormon's beliefs regarding creationism vs. evolution?
Most major religions have accepted a belief of theistic evolution or evolutionary creation is a concept that asserts that classical religious teachings about God are compatible with the modern scientific understanding about biological evolution. Bible literalists are the hold outs who believe everything in Genesis is true. How about Mormons? Does Mitt Romney believe in evolution or magic?
Even if you get an answer for Mormons in general, please don't fall into the trap of projecting a generalized answer onto an individual. If your goal is to judge Romney's ability to lead based on whether or not he believes in evolution, I hope you can determine his own opinion and not rely on that of any group of people.
Found this from a 2007 Pew Forum survey:
"Percentage who agree that evolution is the best explanation for the origin of human life on earth"
US Population 48% (scary! No wonder the US is falling so far behind other countries in science and math)
Mainline Protestant 51%
Evangl. Protestant 24%
Jehovah Witness 8%

Religious people often think the teaching of evolution should be banned, and vice-versa for non-religious people. What id your opinion? Should evolution, creationism, or neither be taught? Why?

Which is true - Creationism or Evolution? Can both be right? It seems there are still arguments about whether the world was 'created' or whether it 'evolved.' What do you believe? Can you also accept the alternative view?
