The Spiritual man needs nothing and therefore seeks the needs of others.

The fleshly person wants everything  and cannot even see past these desires to meet the needs of others.

What was Jesus promoting spirituality or carnality?

Jesus' life was all second-hand info. He never penned a word. And so all that he said was more about interpretation of the authors than about actually quoting him. There is evidence that his words were tampered and changed to effect change in persons or societies, based on cultural traditions and norms of the day. Very enlightening, I think.

You gotta love yourself before you can love anyone else. Common sense. Else how would you know how to love? Maybe he said to love yourself, but nobody wrote that one down. Who knows. But if it's in your heart, and it's good, and you know you should do it, forget what the book says.

      Not so.
Jesus is God, inseparable from the Holy Spirit, who "penned" the Good Book through the human hands of His vessels the disciples.
Did you not know about that?   Is that too difficult to entertain that fact?

If there were something else He needed us to know, He would've put it down in black and white....in that Book, indeed.

With all due respect, I'm sticking with what I wrote. I've been devout for a lot of years, and I've learned some really great/tough lessons as a result. I'll take the facts, and the facts are pretty much the way I stated them, regarding the authenticity of the Bible.

        you only have to live
And leave aside faith in nothingness.

          I see.
          Again, that's your choice.
          I choose otherwise.
Without Faith I am nothing.  Because the God of gods and King of kings holds my fate in His hands.

    Y'all are kinda funny!

But yes I sure do hope He holds on tight.
It's a constant striving to actually reach Salvation.
Paul talks about that when he says he kept pressing on toward "the mark".  That "mark" is Salvation.  Other Believers have differing opinions on that subject.   But I know how selfish the human heart is, and I take His admonitions and His promises seriously.

Getting back to the heart of the post.  I don't think Jesus left anything out.  I don't think you can truely love yourself until you love others first.

If I was to always be selfish and put myself first then I wouldn't love myself becuase I would know deep down that I was a bad person.

You must love God first, for without loving Him you won't even begin to know how to love.  "God is love"

Love others second, because if we love ourselves (or think of ourselves) frist then what good are we to anyone and why would we want to love ourselves?

And finally, love ourselves last.  Becuase if we are loving God and others before ourselves then we are truely something worth loving.

One of me favorite quotes is from a t-shirt, it says, "I am third"  and I am proud to say that that is how I try to live my life.

I wholeheartedly agree. And I think the reason why people are goofing off on this subject is because they don't care and don't take the concept of loving others seriously. The "love yourself" mumbo jumbo is an excuse to be selfish! Love IS putting others before yourself!!! You will find no growth or reward, even simply as a person in this world, if you love yourself first! PERIOD.
