ARE so many people, in fact, afraid of the Christian religion?
I don't think they are afraid of it Winston. I think they think it's foolishness.
That's been my experience with friends who don't believe.
I don't consider myself religious. I consider myself a believer.
Crafty, I couldn't agree more. And I respect you for being a believer but not religious. I posted the question in response to a similar question currently being discussed. But that question was based on an assumption my question addresses.
I don't know of anyone that is "afraid" of Christianity.
They either believe in it or they don't. Those who don't believe would rather not have it forced upon them in their daily lives.
I always been confused with the "dont force it on me thing". what exactly does that entail? even when i was an atheist, i cant remember thinking anyone was forcing religion or an idea on me.
Dashing, agreed. I am merely continuing a discussion elsewhere on this site, from which I have been banned, apparently. My last comment was blocked as I typed.
No, I don't think people are afraid of the Christian Religion. There may have been a time when some would fear Christians - Jews for example . . . but in the last 50 or so years, Christianity has re-made itself into a kinder / gentler religion. Gone (at least mostly) is the fire and brimstone which has been replaced with a "loving relationship with Jesus." It may be, in fact, that this change in Christianity is what has lead to many leaving the church - meaning people are no longer afraid to leave religion behind.
People are afraid of ego.
Because they think they are their egos.
The Christian religion has been polluted by ego. The selfish have always craved to be first. They have perverted Christianity into a religion of hate and division.
Christ wanted us to be people of love and coming together. Even when spreading the word, he said not to say anything against those who did not want to listen. Merely walk away. Spend your time with those who hunger for the spirit.

Where does someone like me, with psychic ability, fit into Christianity? Do you think I am evil?I believe in God & Jesus & God's Holy Spirit. But I was born psychic. I see dead people and I talk to dead people. It is a God-given ability. I help people. Yet I cannot label myself as...

It is my contention that the Christian religion (and specifically following Christ) is guaranteed to cause conflict, wars and ill will.As proof - I cite the last 1800 years - including the hubpages forums as evidence. Not only are these forums littered with arguments between atheists and believers,...
