How many of the apostles with Jesus were age 20 years and older??
As I learn the customs of the times when Jesus walked the face of the earth, am learning that applying what we are taught today may not always apply... No matter what your answer do you have Biblical references to support your answer...
I thought they all were older than 20, I do not have biblical references right now but I will have to research.
I felt that way because to be honest, the actors chosen to play parts of this in a movie ex. (bible series) lol, but to be sure I have no idea.
Good question
I know most are portrayed as older but none were over 30, the answer lies in understanding the 613 laws in the old testament and using them in facts we have in the new one... I am not an expert, by far
I think most people assume all the apostles would have been about the same age as Jesus (30-33), with the exception of John. Most traditions, as well as a lot of artwork, usually portray him as a teenager. It is also assumed he was the youngest because of the dating of the Book of Revelation, which it is thought that he authored.
I do not have any Biblical references to support this. Actually, I don't think there really is anything in the Bible which clearly states how old the apostles were. There are a few verses which give us some rather vague clues with regard to some of the apostles' surviving relatives. For example, Matthew 8:14 states that Peter still had a living mother-in-law. Matthew 27:56 says that "the mother of Zebedee's children (James and John)" was at the foot of the cross. However, since most women married quite young in those days, this really doesn't help much with trying to guess the age of the apostles.
appreciate the well thought out answer, I have a thought but I am kind of holding off so that I can get more answers, my theory is nothing more then a theory and is by no way proven...
and this is important because??
What is the purpose and value of this question ? It is not answered in scripture so it must not be important. ??
actually it is answered in scripture, or so I feel it is... I will give you a hint, temple tax and who must pay it...
The answer is 1 (Peter) the temple tax was collected for all men 20 to 65 1/2 a sheckel regardless of wealth or poverty... men MUST pay exactly have, in the new testament the apostles were asked if the Master honored the temple tax, Jesus told Peter, go fish, in his mouth pay the temple tax for you and I, also by jewish standards most disciples of teachers or rabbis was late teens, when most were learning trades... if every man was required why did only peter and Jesus pay the tax??

How to tell your parents you're dating a much older woman or man? When there's a HUGE age gap but it's time to introduce your new boyfriend or girlfriend to your parents. I think you should probably warn them beforehand? Any ideas about this topic?

What do you think about a younger woman dating an older man? (or vice versa)I've been dating a man that's 30 and I'm 23. We get a lot of jokes about it but there are also those who are against it simply because of our age difference. Do you think this is justified or does age really matter?
